Curious, how much of the decline was also due to the growth of natural gas as well as other market factors?

If you want an honest answer, it is probably the majority of it.

Natural gas and oil market price is significantly cheaper than coal and therefore coal demand has vastly decreased. Obama's "war against coal" is largely Republican Fake News designed to capture votes from ignorant coal miners.

Nah, much easier to blame Obama. Let's just completely ignore the HUGE increase in fracking.

Also, the site was down since yesterday afternoon. I thought it was gone for good.

Every time it happens I just assume whoever is in charge of this shithole has had enough. Was part of the criteria for Highroller becoming owner that he immediately had to stop giving a shit?

Lol, funny thing is I was thinking the same thing. That the bill to keep the site running came due and Highroller was like, "The fuck? I don't even go there any more, fuck it." and that was the end of that. Of all the ways for this site to end, that would, uh, be one.

    1. No one showed up for his inauguration and the parade was a joke.
    2. He didn't even write most of his speech.
    3. The speech itself was poorly written and full of grammatical errors.
    4. There may be more people at the women's march today than there was at the inauguration. My wife and some of her friends are down there.
  • SportsAndLady
LOL @ anyone who goes to "women's marches" or any of the sort. Get the fuck over it, Trump is President, go home.

I swear people who think crying and "marching" is going to do anything are the worst. Just fucking go home.

    Lol.

I've seen about a 100 "anti trump" marches. And guess what? It's not doing anything. He's president. And will be for the next 4 years.

I didn't vote for trump, I don't like trump. But I'm not marching down the streets of Chicago with the idea that my anger is going to do a damn thing. It's not. It's not going to do anything. Those who are marching should go home.
  • SportsAndLady
And please, spare me the history lesson. This isn't Martin Luther King Jr out there marching. It's a bunch of sore-losing Liberal's who are upset with the election results because their candidate didn't win. Bunch of crybabies, they should go home.

The same could have been said for the Tea Party 6 years ago.

    1. Initial crowd estimates are at or near 800,000...as big or bigger than any modern president not named Obama, and ironically as big as Clinton's 1993 ceremony. http://www.snopes.com/2017/01/20/obamas-inauguration-crowd-larger-than-trumps/
This on a rainy day with riots around town, and nutjobs blockading half the entrances to the mall.

    2. Says who? His aides say he wrote most of it with input...same as pretty much everyone else since FDR.

    3. Your opinion (and anger) is noted.

    4. There might be, but again, who gives a shit? I wonder if they'll riot and burn shit around town like you people did yesterday? That was pretty cool.

The Tea Party didn't even come into existence until a year after Obama took office. Probably not the best analogy I'll read today.

It's also a classic ptown and liberal response. When cornered in an argument, bring up a completely different point and try to attack your opposition. As if I give a fuck about the damn tea party.

Yeah, birthers would be a better one, since they were being the same sorts of whiny bitches that today's "teh russians did it" whiners are.

Probably better. That said, I don't recall the birthers setting shit on fire and what not...they're looking more reasonable by the day, TBH.

Banner day in DC yesterday.

    http://washington.cbslocal.com/2017/01/20/protests-violence-prevalent-dc/

At this rate, the only real question is how many seats north of 60 the GOP will end up with in 2018.

Still, none of the analogies/examples used thus far have quite matched the fruitlessness of protesting, marching or rioting over something that has been a done deal for a month and now completed in full.
All of these people would be better off using their time, talents and resources in helping some charity or worthwhile cause. Go visit a nursing home, an animal shelter, joing BigBrothers/Big Sisters, volunteer at a hospital. If somebody truly wants a cause to belong to, those few I listed are worthwhile.
But no, they are wasting their time and expenses on something that cannot be undone and they know it. All I can guess is the real motivation for such things is that they are hoping that somebody puts a microphone or a camera in front of them. Get their 15 minutes of fame on youtube or something.

I agree with that. Birthers were irrational pieces of shit, but this is taking it to a whole new level. It's the sort of thing that makes me remember how, when I was a little kid throwing a tantrum because I didn't get what I wanted, my parents just shut me the fuck down. Apparently these people never had to deal with anything even that close to reality in their lives.

My gf went and I asked her if she even knew why she was marching. The best she could come up with was "for equality." I asked if she didn't think women were equal to men in the US then does honestly she fee inferior to me or feel like she was at disadvantage. She couldn't say yes. I then told her I hope she is marching for the Pakistani 18 year who was set on fire by her parents recent for eloping. Women in the US crying about equality is the most ridiculous thing in 2017. Can you imagine what the world thinks looking at this? Relative to the other countries, it's the equivalent of Wall Street marching for poverty. It's also hilarious they chose this date. At least do a random date during trumps presidency. Doing it the day after he is inaugurated just comes off as sour grapes.

I am out reffing in VA, otherwise I contemplated trolling the march by bringing a sign that said "did you sign up for the selective service? Yes or no."

Excuse shitty grammar above. Poor reception here and too lazy to edit from my phone.
