Grow up. This isn't the 1800's anymore. You actually need to provide evidence to function in the real world.
The evidence proves that public education has turned out more functional illiterates in the last 3 decades, despite exponential increases in spending, than ever in history.

If you dump it down to the states, you lose control of pushing for higher quality standards nationwide. Look at the rankings of US schools vs. those of other countries; we are already falling way behind and allowing the states to teach whatever backwards education they want is the quickest way to make it worse.like_that;1833447 wrote:The state of Alabama now requires to teach evolution and climate change. Which other states are you talking about and tell me why we need $77B yearly to change this? As i said earlier, I remember the old sleeper that wanted smaller government. -

I'm kind of waiting to see what/how he does once he takes office, and will make a judgement at that time.sleeper;1833445 wrote:Oh so no answer?
Seems to be the SOP for Trump sympathizers.
That said, watching you lose your shit every day has helped pass the time, so thanks for that. -

...and yet I don't want Alabama being able to teach bible study as part of its core curriculum public schools...nor do I think teachers should be able to teach with associate degrees in plumbing.sleeper;1833431 wrote:Doesn't want regressive thinking; supports Rick Santorum.
People like Rick Sanatorium nor any President would have a say in such thins if the Dept of Ed were eliminated.
"f our education system is going to give children the tools to be good, then there will have to be major changes. But it would be foolish to expect the system to fix itself. The first step to recognize that expecting the federal or even state governments to run our local schools is a bad idea. The system of compulsory public education in America is a relic on industrialization that swept the country at the end of the nineteenth century. Government is the problem here. Bureaucracies don't care about the customer; they are focused on making and following rules. Success is determined by whether the process was strictly followed, not by the result. " -Rick Santorum -

I think this argument pretty much sums up the dept of edu's track record since 1979. Yeah, because all non-Trump fans are for this. Everything is not the same as everything else. Wake the fuck up. -

I agree, I just find it funny that my liberal friends in DC thought the trump supporters would wreck havoc in DC. So far one liberal has set himself on fire. Both sides need to wake the fuck up and grow up.Automatik;1833456 wrote:Yeah, because all non-Trump fans are for this. Everything is not the same as everything else. Wake the fuck up. -

Incorrect (again). He won because we have $20 trillion in debt and nothing to show for it. He won because 70,000 factories have been shuttered due to the stupidity of the 'educated and enlightened'. He won because government became focused on social engineering instead of defending the country.Heretic;1833451 wrote:And that's the #1 reason Trump won.
It is pretty simple why he won; and stunningly amazing that folks like you still don't get it. -

He told the people what they wanted to hear and they ate it up. I actually applaud him for that. He duped everyone, played the game, and won.
When will he bring back coal to Ohio? My family and friends are waiting anxiously. -

Trump isn't going to be able to bring those jobs back.
Government isn't doing any social engineering. They are merely enforcing civil and equal rights for all, not just white men.

The coal is still here ................about 400 years worth. Whether the damage inflicted on the industry can be overcome remains to be seen. Best wishes. -

Once again, your blind partisan stupidity is rearing its head. Trump's win is easily tied into the ongoing "people are getting more stupid/lazy" concept because he's just like Obama, Bush II, Clinton, Reagan and so on: the guy with more charisma and better soundbites. That's what has won the vast majority of elections over the last few decades. People can try to connect the dots so they say what they personally want, like you do daily, but the simple reality is that Trump won because he was better at getting people fired up with his words. Just like Obama over Romney and McCain; Bush II over Kerrey and Gore and so on.QuakerOats;1833458 wrote:Incorrect (again). He won because we have $20 trillion in debt and nothing to show for it. Until actual action takes place, no one can say Trump is any different from Obama heading into actually taking office. He said a bunch of vague "things will be better" lines with no definite plan in place and people ate it up because it sounded good and like what they wanted to hear. Soon, reality will set in and it'll be time to see if he actually has the means to enact his promises. I mean, he's already gone from "We're building a wall and Mexico's paying for it!" to "We're building a wall, your tax dollars will pay for it, but I'll get Mexico to pay us back! Really! Honest!" while Mexico's pretty much like "Lol, fuck naw.", so that's one promise that's slowly fizzling. -

The obama administration and the EPA FORCED the closure of many coal-fired power plants. Those particular plants are probably not coming back. Coal can remain viable and we generate a very substantial portion of our power from coal. And there are other uses for coal, and on a global market. Thankfully we can now move ahead with using this vast, God-gifted resource for the betterment of humankind. That is an infinitely better scenario than the communistic tactic of putting the resources of The People off limits to The People.
And as for Ohio, it was quite evident this time around that she is tired of being duped by the federal government. Thank God. -

You do know there is a scientific explanation for how coal is formed that has nothing to do with mythology, don't you?QuakerOats;1833475 wrote:The obama administration and the EPA FORCED the closure of many coal-fired power plants. Again, my friends and family are eager to know. They were aware that the coal industry was on it's way out well before Obama took office, so how and when will Trump bring it back? Let's focus on that and not deflect and place blame on the past. Good luck. -

Sorry, coal production peaked in 2008. Since then it has fallen precipitously, by nearly 40%, due to the effects of obama's war on coal. There is still significant productive capacity, hopefully it can be revived to a significant extent. Best.
