Why are you voting how you're voting?

  • O-Trap
To maybe better direct the political conversation, I thought this was a worthwhile poll.

I made it private so that there's no backlash regarding anyone's pick.

    Choice: Clinton
    Reason: #NeverTrump
  • O-Trap
I put the poll up. Sorry. Took a minute.

I'd vote for nearly anyone running against Clinton.
I'd vote for nearly anyone running against Trump.

    No choice but third party.

Gary Johnson because closest to my views on most issues.

Also he doesnt seem to be a serial liar or a insecure egomaniac.

Johnson because they both suck, and I fall in-between GOP/Libertarian spectrum of views. The GOP unfortunately has mostly left me, and the dems are becoming more regressive by the day. The dems are going to become the bernie socialist party in 10-15 years, so I am interested to see what happens. Either the GOP comes further left, or I think we will seriously see a libertarian candidate in our lifetime. There are plenty of dems out there that are looking for a reason to vote for the GOP, but the GOP is too fucking dumb and stubborn to adapt and capitalize on it.

I'm voting third-party because they both suck.
    That's what I voted for.

I still don't know. Although Ohio allows write in candidates, the vote is thrown out without the respective candidate filing the required paperwork. There are a handful of candidates who have filed the appropriate paperwork in Ohio for the Presidential race as a write in candidate.

I really don't care about partisan affiliation but the I don't believe the Constitution Party has met the requirements to be listed on the ballot yet in Ohio . Their Candidate is Darrel Castle. I still need a lot more info on him but without a true write in/counted vote option that I'm in agreement with, I'm still undecided until I can decipher Castle's position and determine if he will be on the ballot here. He has been releasing podcasts on his views and positions since 2011 and there's a lot to go through.

The Conservative Party of the United States officially endorsed Cruz and he's obviously no longer an option. The best I've been able to surmise is that Rick Santorum reflects my what I'd like to see.

The leaves me right now with the, "I have no idea. Everything Sucks," option.

I'll vote for Clinton, reasons: 50% for Clinton based on foreign policy. 50% for Never Trump.
  • HitsRus
When you are voting for the lesser of two evils, you are still casting a vote for evil. I am going to wait and watch and if I like a third party candidate I may cast my vote for them. For sure, never Hillary... Maybe a very slight chance I could vote for Trump, but in truth, the longer this goes on, the more ridiculous he gets. I'm thinking he is a Clinton plant. Does he really want to be President?
Please don't tell me to get on the "Trump train"... He is neither a conservative nor a Republican. His " train" has jumped the tracks and it ain't comin' back.

I can honestly say I have no idea how I'll vote. I will vote, but I'll be honest, a big part of me doesn't want to vote. I really really don't like either candidate and have no clue how I'll come to a decision.

    Here I will help you

A vote for HC is a vote for someone who is bought and paid for by big business, lobbyest and foreign leaders. She will never make a decision based on what is good for you. Trump is not paid for and will make decisions like you and I.

^^^^ here's the problem with that Spock....
I don't want a president that makes decisions "like you and I"...I want a president that makes good decisions based on informed rational thought , on behalf of me, and for the good of the country. I don't want an entertainer. I don't want a guy who has to explain his statements or justify his comments 3 days later. I want a guy/gal who has a modicum of decorum...someone that represents the United States to the rest of the world, and projects a consistency to the rest of the world. As the worlds' dominant superpower, everybody moves geopolitically as a result of our policies.
Neither do I want a politician that can be bought or sells themselves for cash. I don't want someone who is careless with sensitive information. I don't want a liar and a cheat.....especially one whose political stances shift with the prevailing winds, and/or are contrary to mine. And is it too much to want competence?

A well-articulated point about the president making decisions " like you and I."

It's hard not to sympathize with this view. A president needs both political competence and scruples to hold office well, and it doesn't appear as though either candidates has the set.

At this time, I am leaning to the D side, but considering a third party vote.
  • CenterBHSFan
As an aside, it seems to me that the people who are holding their nose to vote for Hillary/Trump?

On one side you have somebody who says some of the most stupidass and asinine statements that you could think of.
On the other side, you have somebody who DOES some of the most stupidass and asinine things that you could think of.

Which is why I'm really surprised that more on this forum aren't voting away from both of them. I can understand it, to a certain extent... but it still surprises me.

...and this (with the correct spelling of 'disgusting').

I'm a conservative who has voted for Democrats on occasion as i vote on issues rather than political party.

I CANNOT vote for Clinton as I believe that she is the most dishonest, self-serving, misogynistic person on the planet. Trump is just plain crazy.

    We. Are. Screwed.

I'm actually surprised Trump isn't winning. This site is 99% conservative. (Boat shoes and ptown are our lefties. Are there any others? ) I think it speaks to what a jack ass Trump is that he isn't winning here easily.
  • FatHobbit
And I just read that Ohio is the only state that won't have Johnson on the ballot.

The president has a cabinet and checks and balances. HC isnt going to listen to anyone inside DC. SHe thinks she is above everyone else in the political world. Trump will listen to his experts (unlike Obama) to make the right decisions.
