as long as there are people out there like sleeper in the workplace with views like his i will continue to be ok with AA
Of course you will. Any way to get a leg up on a job amirite?

People had enough and defined their own cultural identities in positive terms. Being called Kraut is bad. Celebrating your German heritage as a German-American like at the German-American fest in Toledo next weekend is good.
Boats, I don't disagree with any of that. That people celebrate their ancestors/ancestry and heritage in the privacy of their leisure is a good thing. That we check boxes on government forms attaching labels to ourselves....ehhhh, not so much. 50 years after the enactment of Civil rights legislation...legislation that has been tweaked and refined, we should be moving away from labels in the public sector. An American should be an American. Public diversity invites public divisiveness.

Meanwhile it's ok for gblock to make broad generalizations of Mexicans. Hypocrisy at its finest. Makes his stance even more laughable.

After all the righteous shit you preach and the amount of times you play the race card, yeah I think it's fair to call you out on your bullshit.

The difference is we don't get butt hurt with the jokes. You do, and then you make claims about how you are happy with AA. So you want a leg up on jobs because you are black meanwhile it's ok for you to shed not so positive light on other races. Spin it all you want, but you're a fucking hypocrite.

The views of sleeper do not correspond with mine. Were he to take those views 'to the workplace' or public accomodation he would be in violation of the law and subject to penalties according to it. Bigotry and discrimination has no legal standing.

Making a joke does not make one a hypocrite but u can continue to bring it up when u get pwned or even better block my posts! Carry on

Yeah, because sleeper=every white person in a hiring position. I'm sure black people don't have the same thoughts running through their heads when they are in hiring positions. /sarcasm

Only reason I commented in the first place was to say all be judged individually. There are good and bad of all races. If u guys can't see that I can't help you. Blacks aren't the only group that needs to get there stuff together take a look in the mirror and take a break on the blacks every thread. I come here to talk sports n current events, but sometimes I can't help myself to see all blacks lumped into a group of lazy criminals everyday / rant carry on I'm going back to sports section

one more edit.. Half the views on here would not be posted on fb or a real public forum without anonymity. Secondly when u say blacks are this or that and someone says give it time or blames years of oppression you say there's the race card? What are u supposed to say? Things have been great were just inferior? Is why we have the same convos over and over is that the only answer that will be accepted?? Ok now /rant

Well this thread is going as planned, I might as well throw another wrench into it.

So 20 years ago, I believe Clinton received 31% of the Asian vote. Bush the First had 55% and Reagan received a vast majority also. So what changed? Well for one, the Republican party was taken over by Neocons and Evangelicals. The media also has done a great job in portraying the Republican party into two groups. Old rich white christian men and Dumb poor christian hillbillies both who dislike immigrants.

I do think it has more to do with people voting Democrat because they want to vote against Republicans not because they actually agree with democrats. Most people still identify as Economically conservative. If not then at least moderate. Not many people actually identify as Economically liberal or progressive. Stick with Economics. Let people live their lives as they see fit as long as they are not hurting others and speak about how we want the best and brightest people around the world to come to America(Legally). I don't think it is that hard really.

As for Jewish Americans, I don't know the answer but I don't think you can rule out the fact the Republican party largely identifies as Christian. I doubt many would admit that, but I think it probably plays a part.

Trayvon thread. Not digging through that cluster fuck of a thread, but it definitely happened.

Not sure how I was pwned when your post wasn't directed at me lolfail. It actually does make you a hypocrite. If somebody is outspoken and adamant about a particular subject and then proceeds to make a joke that could be sensitive relating to that subject, that would be hypocritical.

If you can't comprehend that, then I don't know what to tell you.

This is the politics thread, if you want to talk about "sports n current events" then we have forums for that type of forum entertainment. There are bad apples in demographics, the difference is certain demographics have laws that benefit them, and outspoken people who think they are owed something. It's 2014, it's time to place everyone on equal grounding. Your skills and character should be the only thing that is ever in consideration.

Agreed. Been saying this for awhile, particular about the republican party needed to change their stance to this view. I have a lot of friends who vote democrat because of this.

^^^I think you probably hit a big combination of factors. When Repubs quit being fiscally conservative they were going to lose on the social issues. The liberal media has played a huge role, particularly among younger generations - which you're talking 30 years and that's going to move the needle.

I've heard some in the media (and science = puke) say being able to be open about their political views is a good thing. I don't agree. Allowing agendas to creep into media and science has been a disaster - when you no longer care about appearing unbiased then you lose control over objectivity.

Maybe what's happened more is what people allow to get their attention - in the media (and politics) it's usually the extreme that get the attention because people notice, which then leads to a polarization which just further crushes fairness and objectivity.

Sad commentary on the electorate, really, that the internet created a more open and available source of information but most people only seek out and pay attention to that which confirms their views. And that basically killed the old media model.

I don't recall this thread at all...

I also am not advocating affirmative action or any other regulation that would benefit white people. Not surprised you don't see the difference.

There is a search option. I see the difference and I long for the day all will be treated equally. Sucks being discriminated against doesn't it. But I don't go around qq.

(already said I found the thread)

Except you just said you are happy AA exists. As for being discriminated against, are you trying to imply you are discriminated against? Poor guy, you get preference due to your race :(.

I said if people continue to think the way sleeper does. U don't have to be in the position of hiring and firing to hurt someone and sabatoge them in the workplace. These comments go well beyond jokes and are the kinds of things that continue to spread hate vailed in political jargon. The comments are the same on the women and minorities thread. Gets old is all. When I see that change I would gladly change my stance

The fact of the matter is those thoughts run through all races. You don't see me bitching for AA. Like I said, its 2014. There is equal opportunity, you are never going to happy if you are looking for equal outcome, especially if you hold grudges over petty shit or events that took place when you weren't even alive.
