Would you be concerned with a 50 year old strange man around a 12 year old boy in the men's room? I would.CenterBHSFan;1795739 wrote:I can't let this pass...
Would you feel very comfortable if you were in a Target with say... a 12 year old daughter/niece/whoever and she had to go to the bathroom and while she's in there, some 50 year old strange man walks in there with her? I wouldn't. And I'm sure as hell not dumb enough to place my bets on those odds. You can be comfortable taking that chance, if that's your choice, but others shouldn't be put into that situation because of handful of others don't give a care.
Most 50 year old men aren't rapists. A 12 year old girl going to the bathroom and where a transgender man is also in isn't a big deal.
"OMG A MAN IS IN THE SAME BATHROOM AS A LITTLE GIRL!!" That's how you sound. -

The point is it isn't just a transgender in the bathroom with the little girl, it could be any man or pervert. I don't think anyone is concerned with an actual transgender doing the raping or whatever you want to call it. It's the fact that the law opens it up to all freaky white dudes like the subway guy. And if you don't have a problem with the federal government forcing schools and what not to allow transgenders (which is literally 0 of the population) then you aren't really a republican which at its core is against the federal government making overarching laws that don't concern it.SportsAndLady;1795757 wrote:Would you be concerned with a 50 year old strange man around a 12 year old boy in the men's room? Some of us still give a fuck about the federal government wielding power outside of its constitutional authority. Specifically in this case the executive branch using some warped interpretation of title IX.SportsAndLady;1795735 wrote:Who gives a fuck about transgender?
I'm a republican. But I can't stand when fellow republicans go on and on about shit that is so meaningless. OMG A GUY WILL BE IN THE GIRLS RESTROOM AHHHHHH! Who gives a fuck? Just stfu and understand that shit changes. Stop giving republicans a bad name. -
majorsparkShould the federal government use punitive acts such as pulling funding for drug enforcement/treatment because a state such as Colorado runs afoul of federal law?

Wow, somebody got a little ticked from that. I was just saying you kinda sounded like an ahole with that post and offering to provide a different perspective.CenterBHSFan;1795749 wrote:Shove it, Ptown. I have a simple minded view of the world, eh?
Is that so? What makes you think so? What gives you the RIGHT to say that to me? Seriously. On a cognitive level, what gives you the greenlight to say that to anybody?
Do you seriously think that just because you know more about foreign policy than almost anybody on this forum that you are THAT much smarter and understanding than them? REALLY?
You're fucked up. You're so immersed in your own superiority that you actually give yourself a pass to say that to somebody who you know nothing about. You have no idea of my education level, my life experiences, the places I've been to, the places I live, my income, anything, but yet you think I have a simple minded view of the world.
Because I didn't watch one particular documentary. It doesn't matter that I've read other articles, watched other shows/docs or anything like that. Nope.
You've gotta be fucking kidding me with this...
Sounds like that hit a little close to home.

You're right. It's a human rights issue. Your views, once again, will end up on the wrong side of history.CenterBHSFan;1795755 wrote:Also, sleeper, this is not a civil rights issue. And, if I were a black person who actually lived through that period of time, I would be highly insulted and indignant to have these two separate issues compared as the same.
This is not white privilege, this is not segregation. -

If you were born with dangles between you legs, use the damn boys/mens bathroom.
If you were born with boobs that will/are/have producing milk, use the damn girls/womens bathroom.
Period.
It's a simple matter of biology. Not a matter of FEELINGS. It's time people grew the fuck up and work through, inspite of, despite of... their feelings. We all have feelings, sure. So what? We deal with them. We don't ask everybody else to change to benefit our anxieties, hurt feelings and paranoia to suit our individual agendas so that we can FEEL empowered.
If that's the case, I demand that we get rid of all public housing, HUD, generational welfare, SJW's, public unions, Coldplay, all government-paid college education, Obamacare and Obamaphones. Because I FEEL that the cost of those things intrudes upon my liberty and freedom.
Look, nobody is telling anybody that they can't use a friggen restroom. They are saying use the biologically correct restroom. This shouldn't be difficult, especially in schools, both bathrooms have stalls. There ya go, privacy.

The point is I just don't give a fuck. Make the transgender bathroom law, it won't change anything. You guys get so up in arms about shit that doesn't fucking matter. Then you scream shit like "the federal government is over stepping their grounds!!" Or "this is our constitutional right!!" I can't stand Obama. But you guys would bitch and moan if he ordered an extra egg at breakfast and not get charged for it.iclfan2;1795758 wrote:The point is it isn't just a transgender in the bathroom with the little girl, it could be any man or pervert. What I care about is the government taking time and resources to make this an issue for a group of people that make up .3% (lgbt statistics not mine) of our population. I hate the lowest common denominator on the conservative/republican side, but the lowest common denominator on the lib/democrat side (and even a lot of intelligent people) just eats this shit up. It's beyond me how a large majority of people on both sides are blind to the fact these narratives are just a ploy to make one party look like angels and the other like demons. It's all about getting those votes and to stay employed and nobody sees that. It's truly pathetic.
I have a friend who has a good college education that just recently got into politics. He posted some dumb shit, so I trolled. He then listed why liberals are better because republicans are bigot!, abortion!, gay rights!, poor people!, etc. Basically a real life version of isadore. To take a phrase from our resident deadbeat; "hook, line and sinker." It's hilarious that people actually think that 90% of these politicians truly care about these petty issues. Look at Hillary, (or trump) it's so damn obvious she is pandering to voters that it should make your eyes bleed. She literally wasn't for any gay rights until 2013 when she started to gear up for her run at the WH. Either our country is this fucking stupid or they would rather turn a blind eye and perpetuate the bullshit narrative we see everyday for both parties. -

Yeah, that wasn't directed at people like you. Realistic and non-extremist republicans will pick and choose what battles to fight when it comes to the federal government. We all know they're going to get too involved in certain areas, people like QO get crazy over every thing. People like you and I will wait until it actually means something. Nope, and I was naive enough to think the GOP would have learned their lesson after 2012. As much as I was happy they took over the house and senate in hindsight it probably would have been better if they didn't. Maybe then they would realize they have to make actual changes.SportsAndLady;1795794 wrote:Yeah, that wasn't directed at people like you. women who are women...use the "women's room
everybody else.... use this

Comparing transgender's wanting to go into a different bathroom than their genetics/anatomy is plumbed up for is not in the same universe as "separate but equal" schools/fountains/buses, etc.sleeper;1795901 wrote:It's a valid comparison. You not liking the comparison doesn't make it terrible.
Anyone with a logical brain understands this. -
jmogI just last night read a paper from a doctor that recently resigned from the American Psychiatric Assoociation due to disagreements in the new DRM-5 standards. In the previous release (DRM-4) transgender was a diagnosable psychiatric disorder, similar to anorexia. Now, it is only a symptom of a possible anxiety disorder (basically if societies treatment of you causes you anxiety, or your body, etc).
His paper suggested that the reason for the diagnoses forever was similar to something like anorexia. You look in the mirror, you are obviously skinny but your brain 100% believes you are fat and you NEED to (have an irrational compulsion to) lose weight. Your brain is seeing something totally different than physical reality.
For the previous transgender diagnosis, you look in the mirror, you see one sex but your brain 100% believes you are the opposite sex and you NEED to (have an irrational compulsion to) change your sex. Your brain is seeing something totally different than physical reality.
His paper talked about how the ONLY reason that the DRM-5 diagnosis changed was due to the LGTB lobby pushing for it to change and not be a mental diagnosis anymore.
I have also read since then that there have been studies sense that compare those with eating disorders and their "psychosis" levels with disbelief of what they see vs transgender's and that the transgender's "psychosis levels" were MUCH lower than those with eating disorders.
So the science can/is on both sides here and needs to be figured out before we go all "civil rights! just like separate drinking fountains!" on everyone.
