Stunning that such a radical could be in the WH leading our fall from within.

    Just stunning.

    Really? We are stunned?

WAY too many people voted for KB1 for the wrong reasons...because of the color of his skin, because of the novelty of it, because they had too much of a GWB hangover, rather then his record, his experience, his values, his platform, etc. (Yes, I know there were people who did NOT vote for him due to the color of hgis skin as well).

This should not be a surprise to most....

Another great piece by Mr. Sowell
This will be news to Obama. He most likely won't know about this until he reads the paper, just like everybody else!

obama feds going after schools and teachers for not following Mooochelle's lunch rules.

It is hard to believe we have arrived at this juncture.

I support that. The increase in adolescent obesity and type 2 diabetes is totally fucked.

Have you seen the result of her meals? They aren't healthy at all, just small portions lol. It's a joke. There definitely needs to be something done though. Not really sure what the solution is but not making physical education a joke would be a good start. Also from our workout thread a lot of us know there are some bullshit dieting myths that are being taught. Perhaps simplify dieting and don't feed the bullshit? If I knew what I knew about dieting back in HS, cutting weight would have been 100x better.

Also I think I accidentally reported your post. Tapatalk's update has the report button where the quote button used to be, so just ignore my report mods.

Yes, still providing absolute garbage. It all comes down to money and allocation. Unfortunately, for public schools healthy eating still isn't that high on their list of priorities. I did an extensive research paper on this topic (adolescent obesity) in college and the results were startling. I can't even imagine what it's like now.

There is some hope though. Red Rabbit is a startup in NYC and from what I've heard they are doing great things.

There is a solid documentary on Netflix that talks about this (only a small part). Michelle, I'll hand it to her, had a good idea with the whole lunch thing. However, it turned into a political shit show which is just as bad now as it was before. When they consider French fries a vegetable due to political pressuring, there is an issue.

That said, I ate fries everyday in high school, and ate fast food most nights bc both parents worked and sports. I am far from unhealthy or overweight. The problem is activity level in kids today and their diet outside of school/ or if they are only eating French fries and chips for lunch. The solution would be an entire overhaul with food that is healthy and most kids would find desirable, but who knows how realistic that is.

Pretty cool, it would be nice to see more programs like that.

I just don't think fining a school is the right approach. Why are we trying to punish schools? In the end the only people who will feel the consequences are the kids. If the government wanted to incentivize schools for following a healthy food program (Michelle's is garbage, but it can be fixed) then I would be all for it. Key word is incentivize.
  • QuakerOats
It is not government's purview to force their food policy on parents, kids, families, and local school boards.

If they want to make a recommendation so be it, but that's it.

    Period.
  • Automatik
But it is their responsibility to provide everything else regarding public education? Why not regulate the food?

You're all about keeping money in your pocket, but who foots the bill(s) for these diabetic obese kids who who recuire significant medical attention for the rest of their lives?
  • QuakerOats
If public education would do their job in the first place, then you would not need to re-educate the populace again with another BIG government program.

Instead, we push the kids through at astronomical cost, then take care of them for the rest of their lives because we really didn't educate them ...........and then they became parents, and .........
  • QuakerOats
And no, it really isn't the job of the federal government to provide the education. It is up to the states and the localities. We should abolish the federal department of education .....among other federal agencies.

This has nothing to do with Obama really, but didn't know where else to put it. I find it absurd that Cuomo of NY would put a "travel ban" to NC because that state thinks you should use the bathroom your organs say you should rather than what you "identify" as. I don't get where this outrage comes from for this extremely tiny part of the population.

LOL at Seattle is all I can say. They are slowly becoming the case study of full on liberalism going wrong (along with California, but that's normally swept under the rug).

This is still something I struggle with. Why are bathrooms even about "gender"? Have a penis? Men's room. Have a vagina? Women's room.

    This isn't hard.

...because in today's world it's all about the "feels" and which gender people "identify" with. Biology be damned.

Damn dude. We agree on something.

    Biology > Feels

I don't even think that is what is ultimately driving it.

I think in some instances these people don't even realize they are being "mistreated" until the class of the Professionally Offended make it an issue. Al Sharpton is but one example, but there are many more "Professionally Offended" in charities/foundations who need to manufacture issues to keep donations flowing.

And the more the REAL issues are addressed/fixed (such as gay marriage), the more absurd the causes will become because these people rarely say "mission accomplished", pack-up and move on. The only thing they move on to is the next manufactured "offense" to keep the paychecks coming.

I was just about to ask, "why would they say they are finished?"

They would have to find real jobs if they did that.
