Disgusted with obama administration - Part II

DEFENSE SECRETARY Ash Carter used a personal email account to conduct official business early in his tenure, a Pentagon spokesman admitted — a disclosure that raises more questions about the Obama administration's handling of sensitive information.

I don't think this is limited to Dems or this Administration.

And it's a big problem, because I think it's a deliberate attempt to circumvent disclosure and public information acts. Although I believe that the tech is probably cumbersome and problematic (which is hard to believe, given our defense spending), I think that's mostly just an excuse.

Problem is, the sheeple on both sides of the aisle won't hold the people they vote for accountable. Bush lied. Obama lied. And people are outraged (some of the time, depending) and don't understand why it continues to happen. Because you only care about the people you don't vote for, so there's literally no reason for anyone to change their behavior because only people who will never vote for them are mad.

"FORMER DEFENSE SECRETARY Chuck Hagel reveals that he had approved plans to strike Damascus with Tomahawk cruise missiles after Syria's Bashar al-Assad crossed the 'red line' by using chemical weapons — but President Obama told him to stand down."

Obama signed a $1.1 trillion bill today that makes it legal for companies to share personal info they have about consumers to the government.

    Exactly what we needed!!!

That was probably the turning point that led to the failed credibility of foreign policy in the region.

I think that more and more. Start with the Patriot Act, move to things like the TSA security stuff and progress to this. Both sides culpable. All with the end result of creating a "well, if you aren't doing anything wrong, you don't have anything to worry about" stigma where people are essentially cowed into letting authority do whatever they want because, obviously, if they have objections to any of it, they "must" be hiding something.

A lot of the disagreement and "impass" certainly seems for show....they've largely, over the past 20 years or so, come to a mutual understanding where Repubs get to cut taxes a little, Dems get to raise them a little (resulting in no real net change), and Dems spend a little more on entitlements and Repubs spend a little more on defense.

There's a lot of political posturing over foreign policy, but actual decisions really seem to me to be driven by career staffers. So I think if you swap timelines for Clinton, Bush and Obama they each would have made the same choices in the same circumstances.

Both sides, save maybe the Tea Party, have basically given-up on fiscal discipline, much less any meaningful spending reforms.

I don't like or trust Hillary, at all. But I also don't see a strong, experienced leader on the Repub side to get excited about.

Iran is now making a mockery of the US and our military. My favorite quote below from an article I was just reading:

"The State Department called the release of the photos and videos "unhelpful" and "inappropriate" but said treatment of the sailors were not covered under the Geneva Convention. "

If that response is not a sign of our pussification culture being applied to foreign policy, then I don’t know what is. It's fucking embarrassing. I don’t understand how anybody can’t be pissed about this or not care. If you want to talk about terrorist propaganda, you have it right there. Weak America.

Politico (1/19, Faler) cites an announcement Tuesday by the Congressional Budget Office that it now estimates a 24% increase in the federal deficit this year, to $544 billion. The CBO projects the government will incur an additional $9.4 trillion in debt “over the next decade,” which will push debt held by the private sector to 86% of GDP by 2026, “a level unseen since shortly after World War II.”
The Hill (1/19, Ferris) reports that the projected 2016 deficit amounts to 2.9% of the US economy, the highest percentage since the recession in 2009. That was also the last year in which the deficit increased from the preceding 12 months, a pattern the CBO expects to resume in 2016. The new estimates “mark an abrupt shift from CBO estimates released in August,” The Hill says, as including costs from the year-end legislation added $130 billion to debt projections. Although the outlook throughout 2016 is “more grim than those of the last five years,” the CBO also estimates that the overall economy will “expand solidly” at 2.7%, but that’s down from the budget agency’s August 2015 projection of 3% growth.
Cumulative deficits over the next decade are also expected to be $1.5 trillion higher than previous projections, according to the Wall Street Journal (1/19, Timiraos, Subscription Publication), which says Tuesday’s CBO report illustrates lingering damage from the 2007-09 recession and how its after-effects will inhibit the next president. In particular, the bleak near-term fiscal outlook will hurt Republican candidates seeking major tax cuts as well as Democrats who propose spending increases, the Journal says.
