Vice Presidential Debate

    the "tie-up" tactic was effective at preventing his opponent from just pummeling him. Distract, get personal and don't let it be about facts. The base probably loved that performance, but it won't fly with educated voters. Campaign has officially gone full-retard.
    Great analysis. That seemed to be the strategy....just keep interrupting and being a clown so the viewer couldn't concentrate on what Ryan was saying. I'm not sure that it is going to sit well with people who were watching and are trying to make up their mind.
    Absolutely terrible moderator who tolerated that....Ryan made one statement against the constant interruptions, but with the moderator unwilling /unable to do her job, he should have made a second and more forceful comment about the utter rudeness of his opponent.

    Perhaps she was just intimidated by the office. I suppose it is hard to say...."Mr. Vice President, STFU."

    Barack Obama was a guest at Martha Raddatz wedding. I fully expected her to lean toward Biden, and she did. She seemed to try to bait and question Ryan much more than she did Biden. She did get testy with the Joe-ker on a couple occasions though.

    On the moderation, she did a decent job keeping it on track. I think she was correct in not interjecting immediately during the interruptions because it allowed Ryan to keep making his point and just talk right through it. Had she cut it off mid sentence she would have likely further interfered with Ryan's delivery of his points.

    and lmfao, how many times did Biden have to interrupt with "hope I get equal time"? That really did make him look like a moron, of course I suspect he actually is. But it was like his pre-programmed go-to distraction.
    It was even funnier because Biden had more speaking time than Ryan; even if you don't include the interruptions.

    All this debate did for me was make me HATE Joe Biden and if Obama is re-elected, I want the secret service to quadruple the protection on Obama. Also have 10 doctors checking up on Obama everyday.

    Disagree completely. She allowed Biden to talk over top of Ryan such that it was an audio distraction from what he was trying to say. WTF is the moderator's job?

    It was an audio distraction to those of us watching, but I think she would have completely derailed Ryan if she immediately cut him off to yell at Biden all night. Ryan handled it well and was able to continue his points. I know if I'm talking to someone and they interject I would rather just keep going while I have that thought in my head

    I mean, compared to Lehrer she did a damn good job, lol.

    Fully agree. We've finally found someone that makes Obama look good in comparison.

    When she asked ryan "do you actually have any specifics our are your still working on those?" I thought that was completely uncalled for from Her. Her tone was extremely sarcastic as well at that time. she never did or said anything close to Biden like that the whole night

    I'm not sure what specifics she'd like Ryan to talk about. He's already given his plan, which is more than the D's have given, what specifics is she looking for?

    "Well, we are going to work with Congress to get these bills passed" ?

    Any intelligent person knows that neither side can possibly divulge specifics about a plan. You can lay out a foundation on what you want to happen, but if you get technical, people are going to expect exactly that, which isn't possible in the politics realm.

    I agree. I just think its beyond stupid to keep hammering these "specifics". I agree with what Ryan said, you set a framework and work to achieve that through the process. The R's have set the framework, what framework have the D's set?

    I thought the moderator did a nice job, on the whole. It's clear Biden prepped to be on the offensive, but guaging by reaction polls, it apears he came off as too smug/condescending. Ryan didn't screw anything up, but he didn't hit a HR, either. Like I said, if you're polling partisans, I suspect Biden came out on top by a bit. If you're polling independents, I think Ryan probably came out on top. Either way, it was an interesting/entertaining debate to watch.

    IMO, that was easily the biggest gaffe of the debate. Did Biden not realize how bad it sounded when he said, "the President and I didn't know we needed more security". It was the anniversary of 9/11, in a country known for terrorist cells. They didn't need someone to tell them, they should've known.

    His statement is very clear. This country immediately becomes the World's whipping boy if Biden is ever President.

    I think Bigdogg thought sleeper was threatening Obama, when he was really hoping that nothing happened to Obama so Biden doesn't become president.

    Biden also pretended like he didn't vote for both wars in Iraq and Afghanistan:

    I think it was quite obvious from what we know now that this was a complete and out right lie.

    Which he 100% did vote for them...if only Ryan had called him out on that vote.
