QuakerOatsInteresting, where were the signs advocating the protection of the taxpayer's rights, or the childrens' rights to a valuable education devoid of union control of the public education monopoly?
Oh, that's right, those who would carryy such signs were at work trying to make enough to cover their tax debt which goes to provide for those workers who need their 'rights' protected. -

sleeperIt's pretty obvious that bonelizzard is trolling. Why do you guys continue to respond to him? His condescending tone and ignorance of basic internet forum functions is very apparent, not to mention the lack of ability to construct a complete sentence and the overuse of ellipses.
Obvious troll is being obvious, the question is, who is it? -

A teacher with an Ohio school district with no other names -
CenterBHSFanI can understand why some people might not know forum slang. When this site first started, I didn't know what OP meant lol

Since this circus is coming to Ohio real soon, perhaps we can look forward to seeing all of you on TV supporting the Governor. -
redstreak oneQuestion, why doesnt the state go after those public employees living off of the bloated pension funds? Why only current workers and future workers? STRS gave a recommendation for changes to the pension fund for teachers, including raising the year limit to 35 years for 70 plus percent and increased pay by teachers and older age limits and it was shot down.

FALLSGUYJust because those sectors have not organized does not mean that nobody else should not be able to. I do not have a million dollars. Nobody else should be able to.
-
FALLSGUYAs long as the millionaires like Kasich and his buds at Lehman give back a similar proportion we will all be happy.
-
FALLSGUYMendoza had a union and got paid to sit.
-
FALLSGUYI'll keep saying. Public employees have taken PAY CUTS for the last 2 years. And, they have been paying more for hospitaliztaion. Where would you like to start?
-
FALLSGUYLets see, your future pay and benefits are going to be determined by oh lets say 120 kids who you see approximatelt 45-50 minutes a day,who come to school everyday from who knows where or in who knows what frame of mind. Then you have their parents or guardians or whomever who may or may not care what the kid does in school or even if he/she goes and who may blame you if you try to instill some discipline when the parent can't. Education is not like making cars or widgets or like selling insurance or underware.

Not likely. Most of us will probably be at work, I'm assuming. At least I will.stlouiedipalma;687594 wrote:Since this circus is coming to Ohio real soon, perhaps we can look forward to seeing all of you on TV supporting the Governor.
If someone earns it, I have no qualms with someone having that much more than me. Why shouldn't they? What if you did have a million dollars? Then would it be okay?FALLSGUY;687885 wrote:Just because those sectors have not organized does not mean that nobody else should not be able to. I do not have a million dollars. This attitude scares the hell outta me. "Since I don't have it, nobody should." You're dangerously close to "we should all have the same amount of everything."
I actually agree with this. It should transcend the teachers. I was at the title office and BMV today and was thinking that.FALLSGUY;687887 wrote:As long as the millionaires like Kasich and his buds at Lehman give back a similar proportion we will all be happy.
His union also didn't bargain for all players to make the same amount based on years of experience. It's got its own set of problems, but this isn't one of them.FALLSGUY;687892 wrote:Mendoza had a union and got paid to sit.
Not any of the dozen or so that I know (well, yes to paying more into their insurance and retirement, but it's still significantly better than anyone I know in the private, so I'm not exactly shedding tears for them yet ... that includes my teacher friends and my wife).FALLSGUY;687895 wrote:I'll keep saying. Not one person here said it was. However, not all of the private sector is either. My job in customer service was determined by an undefined group of people with whom I spoke on a daily basis whose frame of mind was also a crap shoot (but I had the added misfortune of knowing that someone was talking to me because something wasn't working for them, so I was already a little behind the eightball). Somehow, not all customer service reps make minimum wage. I started out at $28,800 a year, with pretty decent benefits.FALLSGUY;687914 wrote:Lets see, your future pay and benefits are going to be determined by oh lets say 120 kids who you see approximatelt 45-50 minutes a day,who come to school everyday from who knows where or in who knows what frame of mind. Again, it's supply and demand. -
bonelizzardotrap- I'm not going to answer your question until you answer mine.
look guys, SB5 hit the news. I decided to take a peek at the internet world for some folks talking about it. I found a small forum with SB5 in the title. I chimed in and voiced my opinion. I guess I'm not allowed to do that? I really don't know... But, beleive what you want. I think my first post was the senators phone #'s and email addresses. Making a statement voicing my opinion. I'm not allowed to do that? This is pretty much the only thread I look at? Is that trolling?
Fallsguy, good luck. These guys really think they have all the answers. They're really good at twisting your words -
bonelizzarddo you have to know the person's real name to post information on this forum or know them personally? or any forum for that matter?

No.
I don't know anyone on the forum personally and it is not required. -

bonelizzardthanks for the answer. How about lulz or trolling? Could you define these terms for me so I can educate myself on what this means? Thanks again

I'm sorry. I didn't realize you asked something I hadn't answered. By all means, let me know what I missed, as addressing an issue should be done holistically.bonelizzard;687958 wrote:otrap- I'm not going to answer your question until you answer mine.
I haven't been on the whole time, but I didn't see someone try to silence you or tell you that you couldn't voice your opinion.bonelizzard;687958 wrote:look guys, SB5 hit the news. The truth is, I do hope you stick around, as I'm fairly certain that you and I will agree on things at some point. Moreover, you seem like a nice guy.
In this instance, like any other, you are COMPLETELY able to voice your opinion, but others are also completely able to rebut it.
Doing that is not trolling, though some would say that posting that same post several times would be antagonistic. I wouldn't be one of those, but I do think it can be annoying if it is done in a "here, jump on my bandwagon" kind of way. That would be my opinion ... entirely based on my personal preference, so I admit there is absolutely zero truth or falsity to it.bonelizzard;687958 wrote:I really don't know... What words of yours have I twisted? I have been trying to have a genuine conversation with you, but it seems like you're just not as into that. That's fine, and it's not a huge deal. To each ...bonelizzard;687958 wrote:Fallsguy, good luck. These guys really think they have all the answers. They're really good at twisting your words -

He might answer, but in case he doesn't, I can hopefully help (if not, at least I can try).
"Trolling" is typically used to describe the action of just trying to stir people up and tick them off without any real point or purpose beyond that. I'm not saying you were doing this, but that's what people usually mean when they say it on web forums.
"lulz" is slang that has gone through multiple abbreviations. Essentially, it just means that someone thinks something is funny. -

mellaI am assuming that if (when) the bill passes you will see increases in what most teachers pay toward health care. A decrease in the contributions by districts (taxpayers) toward STRS, a drop in salaries for new teachers, a decrease in yearly raises for all teachers.
I am also assuming that most of the teachers that are in the system will not take a pay cut. I think that most districts realize this would not be practical. "Hey, I am sure you don't mind giving the same quality for less money."
Compromises need to be made but nobody can really want to trash the educational system. Like I've said before. I don't care if the union goes away. I can stand on my own and I have a back up plan if my job starts to suck, (pay decrease with an expectation of the same quality).
How many on here go to the free clinic to get high quality care from a doctor?
