Disgusted With Obama Administration.

FootwedgeWhat a revolting development. The GOP in the house need to grow a set and vote with solidarity....a big fat no. As a poster said above, the US credit rating is going down the shidder anyway....as it should.
All federal workers should take a mandatory 20% pay cut. If they don't like it, then they are free to go hunting for a real job in this shidt economy. Why is it that those who slave 50 hour work weeks in the private sector (white collar workers in particular) to turn a profit...in order to stay in businss....be the only members of society to feel the brunt of our depressed economy? It makes no sense to me.
Shame on the GOP for caving in. They have one last chance to get it right. Vote no on the escalating debt....and force the government to prioritize spending. -

ptown_trojans_1Well, I'm not too happy with it, but at least its a deal so far. Senate needs to act, and they should pass it soon.
The Committee is interesting and here is hoping it is full of adults who actually make sensible cuts.
Given the political climate, more cuts were not politically feasible. The GOP got a good deal, people calling for more are ignoring the Democratic Senate.
I also fundamentally disagree that the U.S. needs to default or lower its credit rating. -
gut"Cuts" are meaningless without a balanced budget. Part of what has been happening, in addition to cuts that never materialize, is there's nothing to prevent offsetting that "cut" with an increase somewhere else. Even within allocations, you cut, say the budget for bombers in the military but then end-up increasing the spending on subs. That's why you have a debt ceiling, to prevent that, but it's pointless when they just vote to increase it (have to) and the best they can do, after much pulling of teeth, is "commit" to balancing the increase with "cuts".

Yep. This was the battle of Waterloo and the spendaholics won...again. Can't say I'm shocked, just despondent that the ways of spend spend spend spend are so engrained into our paradigm that I no longer believe our addiction to wanton careless taxing and spending will ever be satiated. Soon, our credit rating will be lowered, the Fed won't be able to sell bonds like they used to, they'll have to entice bondholders with larger returns, the rate hikes will cascade through to consumers faster than Obama can spend a billion, and what's left of our economy will be brought to a screeching halt and retreat. The Fed will have no bullets left to shoot to keep us out of the abyss and we will see unemployment skyrocket. The "only" solution will be government intervention into everything to protect us. Just like some predicted....and likely steered. These are the most dangerous fiscal times of my life and all anyone cares about is how this affects Obama's re-election. God save us. -
Cleveland BuckThe bill they passed last year to raise the debt ceiling included legislation that required all increases in spending be offset by cuts elsewhere. They have since added $2 trillion to the debt. What a joke.

WriterbuckeyeWhen the US rating gets bumped down, anyway, every member of Congress and this inept President should hang their heads forever in shame.

Ty WebbSome of you people on here simply amaze me....
You wanted something done, something gets done, and you still bitch

I've said this before and I'll it again.....the Tea "Party" is ruining this country
All they are is an off-shoot of the Republican Party who would rather hold this country's economy and cry like little babies because they don't get what they want instead of working with fellow Republicans and Democrats -

No, the D's played the game, right into their hands. They have the MSM in their back pockets, and caused fighting amongst the R's. The GOP was the only Party trying to fix things, and the Dem's sat on their hands. The D's sat back, and watched the show, then point fingers at the TEA Party, saying that it is the TEA Party's fault nothing was getting done. Where was the Dem's the last 2.5 years? -

You are right. God forbid anyone in this country have a voice, and use it to speak its displeasure with the way things are being run. -

We did not want "something" done; we wanted real spending cuts and a true path to debt reduction - period.
That did not happen, so bitching is indeed acceptable. Some day, you will wish like hell that the Tea Party had carried the day. -
gutI like some of the things the TEA party is doing. But like many politicians, only the extreme voices get heard. We've gotten to a point in this country, for a variety of reasons, where moderate voices of reason are rarely heard. The TEA party didn't just get elected because the TEA party is that large and influential, they got elected because a lot of moderates are fed-up with unrestrained govt spending, but again the nature of politics means TEA party candidates have taken a hard-line, and to some extreme, stance.
The American people want spending cuts, but the sad reality is that most are not willing to sacrifice THEIR benefits and most are not willing to pay for THEIR benefits - get rid of handouts, but not MY handout....raise taxes, but not MY taxes. And that mentality is reflected and ingrained in Washington. I don't think it's coincidental that about half of America is Repub and about half of America opposes higher taxes to some degree or other - that would be the half of America that actually pays taxes, net payers rather than net beneficiaries of socialism.
Like I said, the debate has been hijacked to be about the rich and corporations paying for everyone, and it just isn't feasible. Europeans pay more - they ALL pay more - for all their socialism (and they still have horrible budget problems through many countries in Europe as well). The only way to come remotely close is to jack-up corporate rates and the capital gains tax to points that will almost certainly choke off growth and investment even more, which is why growth in the EU has lagged for years and years. Socialism, and the taxes that go with it, are a drag on growth because it both removes incentive to work while reducing incentive to invest with taxes being a drag on productivity. -

Yeah, wanting the government to balance its budget through spending cuts is "ruining this country". You can't be serious with that. -
QuakerOatsWhen the defenders of liberty and advocates of fiscal discipline are labeled "Terrorists", by the vice-president no less, you know the nation is in serious trouble.
