there goes that crazy muffucker Obama, ya know, proposing to lower taxes on businesses! What a jerk!
Proposing to lower the tax rate. He also proposes to eliminate "loopholes" and other deductions. He expects more tax revenues from this, which means the overall tax on businesses will go up.

that's why he's a JERK man! Simplifying things so people can't abuse the system and it's more clear for everyone... what an asshat. No longer will corp's profit from an army of accountants... that's not right!

It's a good idea...if you applied it to everyone.

Raising taxes on the individual who owns the business while "decreasing" taxes on the business get us nowhere and probably in a worst place.

why is it probably worse? and how is it getting us nowhere? I'm curious.

Not to mention he picked and chose which types of businesses got lower taxes and which ones didn't.

FYI, his plan raises the taxes on oil companies...who do you think will be paying this extra? I bet it is you and I at the gas pump.

The crazy guy also planned on raising the capital gains tax to nearly triple what it is now. Good news for all those business and retirees using their 401ks, pensions, and IRAs huh?

My problem isn't with those that owe $0 in taxes. My problem is with the government allowing people to have a NEGATIVE tax burden and actually getting more in returns than they paid in.

Oh yeah, my other problem is those same people complaining that the rich don't pay their "fair share" when they are either paying 0 or getting free money.

In a nut shell: very few are paying everything for very many, yet the very many are complaining that it is isn't enough, egged on by their activist 'leader'. This situation won't last much longer.

Well the Bammer did say he would like to see gas prices go up incrementally. He's doing a damned good job of it.

You say raises taxes, I say tomahto. Look, at what % would the corp tax rate have to drop to to actually enforce it without fucking with the tax code so much that everyone has to hire 1000 tax accountants to get down to the lowest rate they can? Why doesn't it make sense to have everyone pay the same rate (for the most part - mfg apparently deserves to pay a little less)?

So you don't have a problem with GE not paying taxes? But you have a problem with individual people to have a negative tax burden (poor people). Gotcha. So if the poor people turned into a zero-sum burden for the government, you'd be cool with that, since you're cool with corps that owe nothing to the feds?

    Maybe I am confused.

ya, raise the capital gains tax to 44%. That's be sure and stimulate growth in the economy. Does Obama want this country to fail?
  • stlouiedipalma

More unbiased jibberish from Chicken Little himself.
Imagine his surprise the morning after Election Day when the guy he backed lost again and the world didn't end.

"So you don't have a problem with GE not paying taxes?"

If GE was set up as an LLC it wouldn't pay taxes, nor would any other business, it would be a pass through entity that's gains and losses filter through directly to its equity owners. There are reasons why it would want to remain a taxable c corp, but IMO it is just unnecessary complexity that burdens everyone besides the paper pushers.

The corporate tax helps two sets of people: 1) Accountants, and 2) Tax attorneys.

You are confused, because I never said I was "ok" with GE paying $0 in taxes. I was talking about individuals in that post.

right, and we're talking corp tax. So were you trying to be confusing or just trying to deflect or what?

I agree with your last point, but wouldn't simplifying it so that everyone paid the same hurt accountants and attorneys?

    No you weren't, look again.

The post I quoted from you, quoted someone else's post about 49.5% of INDIVIDUALS do not pay any taxes.

You said they were deflecting and why is that a "bad thing" to which I made my reply about negative tax burdens.

You are the one confused again.
