Wayne County area Wrestling 2009-10

    Very quiet in Huskyland.
Losing Hershey for the season is a major blow to the Huskies team title aspirations. I hate to get to bummed out this early, but it was pretty much the death blow.

The way things have been going, I just hope NWN has enough people left in February to finish in the top half of the league.

Good to hear on Keyes, just haven't seen him in the stats lately for Dalton. Noticed he had a ice pack on shoulder at WIT.

I'm a little late on this but.... RABER WILL BE BAD AT 160! Seigel is a good good wrestler but Raber was burnt out by the third... Let's think about this... He was 179 at the Orrville Jr High tourney, then sucked it down in a day which is not smart, and looked bad in the 3rd. He will be completely ZAPPED at 162... He'll need a lot of 1st period pins or come the final rounds he is gonna be done when it counts.

Looks like Keyes has migrated to 171. Although I think Siegel is still the favorite (WCAL), 171 is the place where Keyes will be able to make the most noise and have the best advancement opportunities.

Northwestern didn't take anything close to a full team to the MIT. (Why?)
Schaefer is still alive in winners bracket, Topp & East hanging on in the consolations. Brett Fortune lost to a West Holmes grappler before being eliminated. Bryan Fortune apparently still injured and didn't wrestle. Neuendorf also not in tourney.
Overall, St. Eds is running away from the field.

As far as Raber at 160, hes still got about 40-45 days to cut to 160 and get acclimated. It will be a bit rough at first but I think he'll be alright. I also think he wasn't ready to tangle with a healthy 180 lb Jon Beam. (just an opinion....take it for what it's worth..0)

Keyes may wrestle 189 tomorrow at Smithville.

171 is starting to look more and more stacked as the days go by. there's Siegel, Fortune, Hillty, Keyes, Shook, possibly Raber and I heard that Rittmen from Norwayne wants to try. (allthough the docs are most likely not going to clear him.) with Beam and Shaefer at 189 and Hall ,possibly Raber at 160 it looks like Sectionals are going to be hard no matter where you land.

Northwestern was at Medina this weekend. They took like 7 guys i think. Fortune has an infected lung and knee injury. He was certainly not at his best. East and Topp wrestled well. Topp took 7th in probably the hardest weight in the tournament. Schaefer was not scored on all weekend except for kicking people and dominated taking first. I cannot wait for the county meet!!!
  • Bears89
Congrats to Schaefer! Cant wait to see a Schaefer-Beam match-up! Should be one of the most exciting matches our area has seen in a few years!! County touney=excitement Beam-Schaefer, Beam(Z)-Hall, The BEARS going for 4 in a row WOW I for one cannot wait!!!!!!

    Bear Fans,
Did Mullins wrestle Allerding from Loudonville in the Ashland preview? If so, what happened. If not, have they ever faced off?

The more I start looking at the NWN sectional, the more I think that it is going to be one tough tournament. Lots of interesting possible matchups and some deep weight classes. It's going to be a wild ride come February.
