Columbus City League

Wow 36 kids got out that's a nice job. These kids have put in a lot of work which is starting to pay off at the right time in the season. I wish everyone will and I would love to see multiple kids get out. I posted it the other day when I said this could be the year that the City would have a large number of DQ’s now lets see how many will show up this weekend and place or make it to the big show. Once again nice job coaches and wrestlers.

Cruiser, I wasnt there and don't want to make excuses for someone who isnt my wrestler, but I think Patrick has secretly been battling some injuries this season that got worse as it went on.

I looked it up and then changed my post.

At least two City leaguers wrestling in the D2 finals... one predicted, the other not so much....

    Stanley Hendrick 132
    Won Brad Davis Philo Fall
    Won Drew Avery Claymont Fall
Won Jake Mckitrick Steubenville T-Fall 18-3

Great job Mr. Hendrick on a wonderful district tournament. And also to Mr. Gusan.

And one wrestling in the D1 Finals...

Anthony Alexander(Northland) dec. Kasee McDougle(Lincoln) 8-6 (semi final result)

Great job and good luck tonight.

I like Gusan's Draw...... Make it happen..
  • Westie101
Alexander has a draw where he can place in the rediculous 138 bracket provided he wins his first match. Hendricks has an outside shot to place, although I feel that banks on him winning his first match. Gusan should be a semi finalist for sure!

Gusan has been absolutely dominant...all first period pins.

Gusan is a beast can anyone recall the last city kid to be a state champ? I think Robert Sessley May have been.

Rumor has it his prelim went to the second, Lucky guy ;)

Sessley BE was the last champ. Boyd 112 MF was the last placer 4th, and hopefully Gusan can become the next champ. The kid is good. A lot of those who didn't know him got a nice surprise. I think he has pinned all but one of his kids since SECTIONALS! His only loss is on an illegal slam! these are the stats that dreams are made of!

Rumor has it Gusan hasnt been scored on thru Sectionals, Districts or States.

Gusan unfortunately lost in the finals. I think he was the better wrestler, but for some reason changed his style in the finals. No shots. Let Shaw decide how they were going to wrestle...Nice job anyway! Awesome to see a City League guy do well at the States.

    Very well said CaptJack.
  • coach1
I think captain jack is right Gusan did not wrestle like he knows how he looked to be flat no one thought a city boy would make it that far he is a cols city hero
  • Dirtyscramble
Was Gusan a City boy all 4 years?

From what I remember, he wrestled all of maybe 6 matches with hartley as a freshman, then transferred to ridge as a sophomore.
