That is all I have for now. As far as the weather is concerned, I think we need to push back the weigh in times. Just a thought.
thanks lowsingle -
pantherdad2312Best of luck to all those "Red Devils" from my Alma Mater @ the City Champioships tomorrow. Keep up the tradition those "Legendary Lenny Ball" teams started many years ago!

cruiser_96I'm receiving word that the Red Devils made it happen tonight.
Well done. -
PopKatThanks to Centennial High School for a VERY WELL RUN EVENT. Congrats to all individual Champions for a job well done.
-
pantherdad2312Congrats Red Devils, way to bring it home you make us alumni proud:thumbup:. On another note what caused Gusan to lose his first match by default?
-
PopKatalso, congrats to Mifflin Jr Alec Mills for his 100th varsity win today.

80babyNice job to all the City League wrestlers today and I wish everyone the very best next weekend at sectionals. Results are posted on bamuspage. Congrats to Coach Oney Coach of the year and the Red Devils for another Championship nice job.

I'm going to have to call horseshi* on this quote.powerdouble;1083396 wrote:Very piss poor ran tournament, alot of bad calls. Enough said.
There was one TERRIBLE call that I saw, but the tournament itself was well run, and efficient. I thought it was the best run tourney in the last few years. Centennial did a great job with Parents running tables, parents running the coaches room, and no confusion at all.
As far as the wrestling itself, I thought it was pretty good overall. The Mills Alexander match lived up to the hype. They both left everything on the mat and went at each other. Alexander is not scared to try anything, especially in the big matches. Mills matched him in that department as well! Good hard fought match.
I was impressed with these guys:
Mac Conklin
Stanley Hendricks
Santi Farias (who is the target for all bad officiating calls for some reason)
Alexander/Mills
Kyle Messer
Jordan (Nino) Schembri
Devin Williams.
These guys all looked good to me and I think they will do well next week.
*As for next week, I feel bad for the group of Individuals that run into Travis Gusan. He was hit with a call that can be labeled as bad, but can't be argued because of an officials interpretation of a slam. As most of you already know, Travis hit a double leg and gave a kid a concussion. He was never trying to hurt the kid, and was in control, he is just rough, which is how he has been trained to wrestle. My hats off to him and his family for keeping the situation under control, and keeping the emotions under control. The city league in general is known for losing control and making a scene. It isn't very often you see a kid as highly touted as Travis accept what happened, shake it off and continue to wrestle albeit he received forfeits because coaches didn't want to feel his wrath. I was impressed at the way he kept himself calm. It isn't very often you see a 17 year old kid act that mature. I like Travis, and I know he will go far this year. Good luck, and finish strong.
Finally congrats to Marion Franklin! We brought 13 kids, placed 12:::::3 Champs, 3 Runner-ups, two 3rds, Three 4ths, and a 5th. Not bad for a rag tag bunch of fools who were underdogs most of the season! We came together again at the right time. That city-league duct tape is strong -
Westie101I agree with lowsingle with the exception of two calls, Gusan getting called for the illegal slam, and in the Farias Jamison match where the ref blew his whistle on the edge(maybe on accident?) and Farias stops wrestling and he calls two points.
Also, congrats to marion franklin, all their guys did their jobs and a few wrestled out of their skin! Congrats to my boys at west! Had the fewest wrestlers of any team in the top 5 and was able to finish third! -
Dad4SportsSo I'm confused about Gusan.....he got called for an illegal slam while hitting a double leg?
-
great95yea the call was extremely bad....i waned to see how Gray (MF) would do against him
-
Westie101I didn't see the slam but I was confused because I was told after the slAm the kid bounced back up and came back to the center ready to wrestle but after further examination couldn't continue?
-
SidSomehow I missed what Division a few of the City League schools are actually competing in this post season. Mifflin, Northland and Brookhaven. Could someone please enlighten me? Im sure its posted here but must have missed it.
