BearBoy69I looks as if Waynedale is a lock for awhile, isn't there like only 2 or 3 seniors in the starting lineup as of now? Maybe two straight out right team state champs in a row?
-
nikstlitslepmurDefinitely a lock for a while......
-
1_beastBears have 2 seniors...unfortunately Beam is one. The ever improving Gingerich is the other.

1_beastGreat updates,,,,this site is slowly just dying......
I have NOTHING.
Other schools want to start updateing...I will add to the conversation....until then...find us on yappi or in the Daily Record....wait...Classic in the Country is this weekend. -

mrbirdman62Sorry Beast Falcon 81 is Simi retired....LOL! But I will predict some news will be coming out on the 1 year anniversary of the "packet" and will show that Karma and Justice is alive and well. Congrats to Waynedale on a very strong second! Full line up with Skaggs at 126 this week joining the team for the 1st time. Things keep getting better and stronger as we near the "REAL SEASON". Again Karma is alive and well, I hope the county is all enjoying the season and hope everyone in the county has a great Post Season.
PS. Falcon81 was retired. He is off on a tropical island in his speedo's dancing on a beech, he asked me to step in for him. -
1_beastI hear a not so "groovy" event happened this weekend. Terrible to hear. Karma? I dont know...I'm not the messenger....just a fly on the wall.

BearBoy69Well I know not too many follow junior high wrestling but some highlights of Wayne county's future from the Norwayne Cat Classic are: Tuslaw barely loses to wadsworth for the championship. Not exactly Wayne county but nonetheless close enough. Chippewa looks to have a LOT of studs coming up led by Bryson Halls
Little brother. Smithville looked very good too. Rittman for being new to the game has a lot of quality kids and a good number overall in youth and jr high. I heard rumor Rittman will start up it's high school program next season! -
1_beastNice to see Rittman starting at the base and building up. Glad they are getting their HS program back after 25years. I know the youth program has been huge the last last 2-3 years with great numbers!

mrbirdman62Wayne county seems to be having a great sports year all the way around. An amazing football season and hopefully a State championship in wrestling. Wouldn't it be great if we can also get record numbers to State from the entire county Schools!. For those interested Team Nelson will be opening a Greco /Freestyle club in our new Building in down town Fredericksburg. We will be featuring 20 year Olympic coach Doc Bennett every month, Guest Bobby Douglas and many Olympic medalist and NCAA champions. My son Cory Nelson, State champ, Greco State champ, Central US Greco champ and college University Greco All American will be heading this up. All Wayne county wrestlers are welcome. Get your kids to the next level thru freestyle and Greco and get around some of the biggest names and talents in wrestling. Team Nelson has featured Dustin Schlatter, David Taylor, Mike Pucillo, Jake Dietchler, Harry Lester, Bobby Douglas, Rae Rae Mcdonald and a endless list of state champions. We will only have room in the new facility for 15 kids at a time. [email protected].

A PAC
New year for about a month. I am the Chippewa middle school coach and wanted to let you know about the youngsters. We did pretty well on Saturday considering we had 9 kids. 1 first, 3 2nds and 2 3rds. You mentioned Bryson's little brother Garrett and he is the real deal. He has had a great season and has only lost to the kid from Cloverleaf twice. We may get another shot at him on Saturday at their tournament. My other 2 that finished second were both undefeated before the championship matches and just ran into a couple of ringers. Marty (150 lb) is a lanky, strong stud who has good technique. JT (104 lb) is quick and as strong as they come. My first place finisher (110 lb) is actually a 7th grader who is fast, strong and has great technique. They will all get better with practice and working with the high school coaches will only propell them even more. They are a great couple of guys with tremendous knowledge of the sport. Glad I found a thread about these guys. Also, Cloverleaf won on Saturday and Wadsworth came in third. We came in 5th which is astounding considering we only had 9 guys.BearBoy69;1054173 wrote:Well I know not too many follow junior high wrestling but some highlights of Wayne county's future from the Norwayne Cat Classic are: Tuslaw barely loses to wadsworth for the championship. Also, if Waynedale doesn't win state there is something wrong. They are STACKED. -
1_beastNorthwestern is probaly hands down the favorite for county. Who can explain how this "pool" style event is going to be scored, more importantly...the details of the whole tournaments setup???
Really is going to take away from the atmosphere of the "Chmpionships" if it will be set up as Im hearing. -
mrbirdman62
I would have to agree. The pool style will favor more weaker kids to win more matches hence watering down the power of a pure tournament team to dominate. It would seem people are trying to figure out a way to slow down Waynedale by creating a format that has never been used before. This would seem to also water down tradition? Who specifically is behind this Idea? Who specifically suggested and pushed this Idea? You have to admit it would be interesting and revealing who exactly proposed this and pushed it thru? Good conversation at the least...Why the change Now????1_beast;1055054 wrote:Northwestern is probaly hands down the favorite for county. mt1514For whatever it's worth.
I heard that weight classes with 7 wrestlers will be regular tournament style, six or less will be pool or round robin.
How do you keep this from becoming a circus? -
nikstlitslepmurBeast....you mean to tell us that your brother doesn't know who proposed this change? Wasn't it discussed in some type of meeting or something? How does a change like this go through without significant discussion? Is it the coaches decision, AD's or principals? And...I assume there is a vote. What am I missing here?

#2. My understanding is....yes, it was voted on by the coaches....LOL and Waynedale voted NO, the remaining 6 schools voted yes.
My question is...how will this be scored? Who will wrestle for the championships....how will the true 3rd, true runner-up...etc. I'm simply asking for details so I'm prepared to understand the format and scoring.
The seed meeting will make a ton of money if they charge admission.....watching coaches jump their lesser talented kids out of a 7 man bracket and into a pool or jumping out of a weight with a hammer to get the pool....i just want to understand the chaos and formatting....
I have to say Im surprised Hershey was on board with this...because it really is a punch to Waynedale and Northwestern...helping other schools to level the playing field.
There is a ton of talent in the league this year...and it is spread out throughout different weights....but this "new" format is ....well...umm...NEW. Im simply asking for details, certainly nikstlitslepmur you have to know a little about this. -

it got delivered at 6:20am. I stole it at about 6:25am.
sorry bud. I owe you one.
P.S- nothing interesting happened anyway.
On this half regular / half pool format.....
sounds like a clusterf*** to me. -
1_beast
Its just an underhand attempt to knock off the top 2 teams...the area is on the rise and improving....there is no need to change a good thing. It will be exactly as you described it...a cluster #$%&.Bloody Toothbrush;1055311 wrote:Actually......

a 5 man pool with 2 wrestlers at 2-2....will they wrestle each other again for the "championship"?
Details.... -
Red RumSome explanation on this format change would make a nice mat marks article. lots of questions, the big one (IMO) being- How is this thing going to be scored?
The only constant in life is change, and I've always been an advocate of changing things up, but I really don't see how this is going to work.
My idea of change was always adding more teams to the conference (BR,TRI,TUS,LOUD) so 8 man brackets could be filled and rat tails used if needed.
or have a 2 day event with a dual tourney to decide the team champ and some kind of shortened individual tourney based on the dual tourney outcomes to crown weight class champs.
I guess we'll have to wait and see how this plays out.

jacking my paper 20-30 times a year (especially on Saturday mornings during football season) adds up to MORE than "I owe you one" -

nikstlitslepmurSorry Beast...really thought he was your brother. My bad. I think I got your post confused with Bird82. Thought you might have some of those answers. So what I am hearing you say is that we are just a few weeks away from County and no one knows how the tourney will be scored? I feel like no matter how it shakes down, the title is going to be tough to pull away from Waynedale. Injuries and other intangibles aside. My other thought would be that a pool format would give the better teams more opportunity to score points. IDK...

Bloody ToothbrushA tournament where some classes are wrestled pool style and others bracket style is a recipe of controversy and disaster.
As far as who will win this, I gotta think Waynedale. However, I do recall a year or two where Monroeville was highly ranked in state polls yet failed to win the Firelands Conference. Crestview had more depth.
Does Northwestern have the depth?.........maybe
Does Norwayne have the depth?........probably not quite yet
Does Smithville, Hillsdale or Chippewa have the depth?........no, but all have some guys who will contend or win.
This was shaping up to be a good tournament if it was wrestled bracket style.....this new format.....I don't know, maybe it will be better.....although I doubt it.
The one thing I'm sure of is.......a half & half tournament will result in un-needed drama.
On the topic of voting for the format change.....
Smithville, Hillsdale, Dalton, Norwayne & Chippewa probably voted for it because it benefits them.
I doubt it would matter much to Northwestern either way. They probably feel they have a decent chance in any format.
Not sure why Waynedale would vote no, as they have a strong team tournament or dual format. Since they voted no...I'm thinking they see no benefit in this change.
speaking of the Daily Record.....
What day is the wrestling records spotlight published? Red Scum won't tell me.
