I do know that Mifflin has a good 160 lber. I guess he was injured during the season, but could make an impact. I think Briggs has 4 Legit Shots at titles as well. 171 Juty, 112 McQuire, 145 Dean, and 215 Morro. I thinik they get big points from Hickey and Davis as well. They could be top 3 if things work out. IN fact, there are 4-5 teams that could end up in any order. I agree that MF is the Front Runner, but Mifflin, West, Centennial, and Brookhaven are ALWAYS in the Mix. Northland has quality kids that can score as well. I would put their 145 in the mix, and thier 171 lber has already beaten durroh from Marion Franklin as well. It is going to depend on what weights are filled, draws at the meeting, and where kids end up in weight classes. This weekend will be a good measuring stick for Briggs, Mifflin, West, and Brookhaven at St. Charles.

Team overview - Marion Franklin in the driver seat, Centennial-West on their heals, Mifflin and Briggs could make some noise depending on how their best kids do, don't count out Walnut Ridge, Brookhaven, or Whetstone. Heavyweight and 215 should be interesting depending on where Gusan goes. Brown at South is Dr. Jekyle and Mr. Hyde so it depends on which one shows up.

MFHS was without 130 Charles Parkham. he would have placed high as well. Also without 125 and 189. At this tourny however, I don;t think we would have gotten many more points from these last 2.
Good tournament to get ready for sectional tournaments

Mifflin individual results at the St Charles tourney

    103 Phan 2nd
    112 Martin 6th
    130 Coleman 6th
    135 Mills 1st
    145 Burrell 6th
    189 Kenley 3rd
    215 Baker 6th

most weight classes had 4 pools and there was no cross bracket so if u didnt win your pool, but took 2nd the best u could do was 5th
  • nic1633c
all the talks about 285 was for nothing Mifflins Robinson reinjured his shoulder and is out for the season!!!
  • knightflyer150
It looks like Mifflin is a very real player in the City League. Interesting.
  • lowsingle174
I hope robinson is not out for the season. We need to get as many people to the district and the state level tourneys to give our league some Credibility. I am pulling for all teams to have their best tournaments in the next couple of weeks. We need to improve as a whole before some other leagues begin to take us all seriously. I realize this is a down year for most, MFHS included, but no excuses come sectionals.
  • Westie101
top 5 based on tpi of rankings im working on. Please note this are very west homer. also very unkind to centennial at some weights, and maybe too kind to bhaven.
    1.Marion Franklin 153
    2.Mifflin 144.5
    3.West 122.5
    4.Brookhaven 113.5
    5.Centennial 108
  • nic1633c
Unfortunately its true Jalen Robinson is out for season
  • sackerdrag_135
    Regarding rankings:
103-I was impressed with Phan. He is a big 103.
119-Miflin and Brookhaven 119 have wins over Amin.
    145-Bingham beat Kessler.
171-Juty made the finals and probably deserves a higher ranking.
215-Mifflin and Walnut Ridge 215s beat Briggs.

I saw Northland this weekend at the All-North. I remember the last 3 years when Minstop, Bray, and Love were just young, inexperienced guys getting hammered at Varsity tourneys. I don't think people realize how hard it is mentally to develop at schools with little depth. You get crushed repeatedly because you have to wrestle varsity...there is no time to go to JV tourneys and learn or slowly mature. In any case, the shoe is now on the other foot. All three of these guys have stuck it out, matured, developed, and have become good wrestlers. I respect what you guys have done and wish you well.
  • Fatmanroll>Peterson
Bray is a class act too, hope he has a good showing at sectionals/districts
  • lowsingle174
I am on board with the Northland train as well. The Hawk has had his guys to our place multiple times for JV events and what not. the same kids that showed up 3 years ago are tough as nails this year. Northland finished last year at the city tournament, and I think they have 4 shots at titles with 119, 145, 160 (pea can still wrestle regardless of record), and Minstop.
BTW, I am very happy that we are doing things on Baumspage this year.
Fatman/Do you need my scales this year?
  • lowsingle174
That sucks about Robinson. It is good that you guys (mifflin) are placing high in tournaments. I've been telling people since Ready that Mifflin was tough. Kudos, keep up the good work!

Loss of Robinson at heavy is a big blow for the Punchers. A few guys were able to step up this weekend at St. Charles (tough Tournament) and hopefully will give Mifflin som momentum going into the City this weekend. The bad news for the Punchers is that Marion Franklin will be wanting to show they are the real deal after a dissapointing showing at Watkins (another Tough tounament). I had all but written off Northland but I am starting to think that anyone who takes them for granted this Saturday will be giving away some team points.

Good Luck to ALL CCL teams this Saturday as we build to a good showing accross the board at Sectionals.

lowsingle, yes if you could, having two scales in the auxillary gym would be good, and your two portable scoreboards. If you want to bring that stuff Friday you can.

we have to set aside some time post season for an informal grappling club. we used to do that at pick north with harris and it was a blast, nothing crazy, just an hour or so a week (weeknight or Sunday?). I know Fred and my other assistant Matt would be down.
  • Westie101
does anybody know when the seeding meeting is, I have some rankings but i dont want to post till i have everyone at the right weight.
  • lowsingle174
I am down for to roll around for sure. I'd love to pick Fred's brain a little bit about some open guard stuff.
Count on me to have the scale on Saturday Morning, but the two scoreboards will be there on Friday night at 6!
  • Fatmanroll>Peterson
sounds great, westie Friday night at 6, rosters should be up on baumspage Thursday night/Friday morning.

lowsingle, let's chat it up in the hospitality room, that might distract me from overeating, and Sensei Fred is a guru of all things JUUUUJIIIIITTTTTSSSSSUUUUUUUU
  • CoachLWT
So what kind of food will be at the seeding meeting? ha
  • Fatmanroll>Peterson

It's been mentioned. I'm hear to reiterate it. I think Northland has improved. Hats off to Coach Wylder (and Coach Hawk) for making a difference. Good luck to Northland and the rest of the city league as you compete in one one of the most exciting wrestling events I've ever attended.

Nice Overview of what looks to be a very good tournament this year, Westie. Close race between Marion Franklin and Mifflin for the title. If Mifflin can pull a few points at 160 and have a few of the younger guys wrestle to their ability a minor upset is in the making. Mills was second at 145 last year in the city tournament. Budgett will be Tough at 152, however has not had a lot of tournament time this year.
