  Wouldn't it be cool if the Daily Record actually printed all the finals results of tournaments instead of just a wrestlers name and where they finished.....but I guess bad coverage is a little better than no coverage....well, maybe not.

  Can you run that one by me again? I also am not quite sure what your saying...cause I took it as Phillips doesn't want to wrestle Hall at state, and that doesn't sound right.

  I'm saying that Hall might be staying at 171 because Phillips may be wrestling 160 at state. Again this is what l was told by a reliable source from Chippewa, but could be totaly incorrect. Like l said this could all be a bunch of phoo phoo.
  
  Sorry for the confusion.. We all know Hall will be the one staying away,and if Phillips does stay at 171 Hall will be at 160.

  Dear Wayne county wrestling friends our family has just received devastating news from the OHSAA that my sons Zack and Zane Nelson are ineligible for the season. They let the school know only this afternoon. Then later conveniently said the people who made the call were there but had do not disturb on their phone and would not return or answer their phone. Also that the appeal date was set exactly 1 day to late for sectionals. They stated innocent or guilty nothing could or would be done till that date, there by ending what was a banner year for them and their teammates. The person there at the OHSAA who had several conference calsl with the Super, the AD and the coach on conference calls to make sure we had done everything right now claims she does not remember any conference calls and they Mysteriously never happened. Our Super, AD, And coach are shocked at these denials and I believe thru Emails, phone records that this person will be held accountable and "whoever" is responsible pushing this button at such horrible timing will be addressed and corrected if not by reasonable communication , thru the courts.
  I watched how the poor girl at Norwayne was treated and what grown ups tried to take away from her hard work and HS dreams and experiences. They should all be shamed. She was vindicated as I totally believe my sons will be. They are great kids! Their sacrifices have gone above the call of duty. They are known state wide and nationally for their extremely good nature and demeanor. They have never been in trouble in or out of the class room. They have never been in a wrestling room where they didn't earn the respect of the coaches and wrestlers they battled with. Is this what the OHSAA was meant to be??
  I have total faith that something good will happen from this. My sons despite this devastating news have made me proud. They were not going to wrestle any way over principle had we not moved from Tuslaw. We agreed to not publicize what happen at Tuslaw . Every person who does know has totally supported us in our decision to leave including the Tuslaw administration who went out of their way to insure the twins eligibility and we are grateful to Mr. Osler . Obviously just like some adults at Smithville attempted to vindictively hurt a young girl and did steal some of her season I believe my sons will lose but not be broken by the grown ups that attempt to stop them from their HS goals and memories.
  This will hopefully be rectified but not in time for tomorrows meet at Waynedale. My twins are committed to the team concept and will be there warming up and supporting the Team and school that we have come to love and be proud of at tomorrows Duals. The records they were on pace to break won't happen now. This will make someone out there in Blue very very happy. Its ok. Life is about how you handle it when its not fair. The twins first reaction was to call their Mom and make sure she knew it would be ok no matter what. I love those two. Their second reaction was lets start Freestyle and greco and AA. There hard work and dedication will not be broken by a pencil pushing bureaucrat and a envious parent or coach.
  Please take it easy on the twins on your posts . I assume the haters will be all over this like they were with the Young Basketball player. They are just kids. In advance thank you and best of luck to everyone the rest of the season. God is good.

  Well, i'll be the 1st to say that those twins are the hardest working kids i've witnessed. They deserve better than this kind of shenanigans being pulled off by the witch hunters.

  How can they say they are ineligle if they had changed there residence. If they had not competed at Tuslaw this season and they moved then they should have been ok.

  Doors will definitely be opening on Monday and people hiding in dark places will have the light shinning in. Be careful for what you wish for it may not finish the way you planned. Worst case..... the twins are gonna have a great Greco/freestyle season and help coach the youth and teammates to individual championships at State. Help future athletes from the witch hunt rules that punish the best but ignore the rest. Learn to take a stand and change things that are wrong even though its to late for them. Best case... a judge has them back on a mat monday and a Law Suit will be filed on the "INCIDENTS" that led us to have to move to begin with and the public record be made available to all.. Yes we will maintain or dignity and integrity despite the temptation to lash out. If the system is grossly perverted and used like it was not intended to do one must counter civilly using the system with wisdom and used as it was intended to be used.
  The new era of witch hunting Children just so the parents have no control of their children and they belong to a coaches association that most coaches are not even happy with! When Tuslaw superintendent Al Osler called the OHSAA and said the twins had a serious safety and welfare concern and was even willing and admitted to them it was serious and he wanted them to be able to transfer, Mr. Osler was told that the OHSAA had done away with Health and safety clause and the twins would be ineligible if they moved for safety and welfare reasons and by stating they were in danger it would make them ineligible!!!! This is crazy . The state can remove a child from his own home and parents if there is a safety and welfare concern but as of this year a parent or superintendent can not remove a child from a coach that has posed a safety or welfare issue with the child because of a club of coaches that formed the OHSAA. Who gives that kind of power to a COACH!!!!! Its absolutely CRAZY!! This is America ! Why do I feel like a Jewish person in Germany during WW2. Do I have an Ankle bracelet on just because my kids play sports?? Not even Felons have to prove their non stop where a bouts!! Can an American still own more than 1 house?? What happened to Athletics aren't important just academics!! Why doesn't the state track down good math students who change schools because of bad academics at their old school , isn't that more important? Illegal alians can get an education anywhere and food stamps and health care but my wrestlers have to sit out a year because they are really good and someone wants them stopped! This stupidity needs stopped!! McCarthyism on HS athletes administered with no due process by the OHSAA, setting a date for repeal on purpose thats 1 day to late for sectionals is like giving a death row inmate a new hearing the day after he is executed..This smells of corruption to high heaven! Personally I would and will do what ever I have to do to protect the safety and welfare of my kids if it even meant breaking a bureaucratic technicality for a coaches "RIGHTS". Its insanity!
  Enough said for now. Thanks to those of you who shared you kind words. Forgive me for my long exhortation . You Dads out there that have watched your sons give so much for their sport I know you understand my frustration. Good things and changes will come from this so others won't have to deal with it. Trust me when I say this ....Some one poked the wrong BEAR and are missing with the wrong cubs!!

  I think the definition of "residence" is at the heart of the issue here.

  I wish the date on this post was April 1st!!!! I can't believe Your boys won't be competiing in the post season. Politics have infiltrated high school sports....so sad...my son wrestled against Zach in Jr. High and has a lot of respect for him as both a wrestler and an individual...both classy kids. Best of luck in all your future endeavors..athletically and legally

  I'm not a big fan of transfers in general but if the twins changed residence and were told they were eligible and then it was suddenly changed it doesnt seem right. Is this another spy gate like the Norwayne - Smithville things in girls basketball? The OHSAA is really shady lately , maybe theyll reverse this also like the Norwayne girl. If everything is on the up and up like the Nelsons say this is really sad for them. Hope it works out for you.

  You are a Wooster fan, of course you are not a big fan of transfers because the only transfers involving Wooster are kids transferring out of our town/school

  Whats truly troubling is watching so many big political schools who recruit relentlessly year after year and now my twins and our family legitimately move to Waynedale with no persuasion by the coach or school for safety and welfare reasons and the OHSAA decides to pick on Waynedale who has no history of recruiting like the PERRY'S or EDS, or Grahm'S(BTW I support people having the option to send their kids to those schools). I mean please a State champ kid moves from WV at the only weight class available to the middle of a corn field in Ohio that happens to be the best wresting team in America and when he has a falling out he is back wrestling in WV the next day!? No investigation there!?! Waynedale is 16 minutes from Tuslaw and our Apple Creek house is 1 mile from the school! We get detailed instructions on 2 three way calls with the State and the Super to make sure every thing is right. I have a house . A new Drivers License. I voted for the new Waynedale levy. I have a Job as a coach at Waynedale . My situation at Tuslaw is fully disclosed and explained as asked and eligibility was approved verbally and then in writing. Now suddenly this person totally denies all conversations with all three school officials and state she has no recollection of her conversations or instructions. Well surprise they have the emails , the phone records and the written correspondence ! What in the world is someone up to!!

  The AD said it came down to a question on the original affidavit that ask ...Do you have the sole custody of the kids. My answer was ...YES. They claim they interpret that yes answer to mean my wife and I are separated there fore it was not a move but a custody rule. This is nuts ! My wife and I have never been separated , married for 28 years and 7 kids!! Why would they choose to interpret yes means separated ? It was a yes or no question!! If some walked up to you or your wife and asked if you have the sole custody what would you say... Yes or No. I said yes! This is worse than the lease being off by one week for the Basketball player in Norwayne! Some Bureaucrat just mis understands a question a bam she ruins to kids lives with out calling or clarifying anything just execute , ruin a kid and set a date one day to late for sectionals?? Then deny , commit fraud and say you never talked and had 3 ways with the Super, AD and Coach twice. Who is running the OHSAA?? I believe we shall over come this when reasonable people and Judges if necessary get envolved.. Lord willing!

  The Norwayne girls situation was stupid and tragic. The Nelsons situation is also stupid and tragic. The OHSAA was shamed into fixing the Norwayne situation, they can be shamed into fixing this one.
  Falcon, Keep your chin up and their feet to the fire! Hopefully this gets fixed by sectionals, if not county.

  Thanks Red Rum, it is tragic. The twins are good boys and don't deserve this, breaks my heart . Why does the OHSAA work so hard to find technicalities to screw kids? Who is behind that? We will find these answers in court monday. I had felt soooo bad for the Norwayne girl when she was unrightfully suspended and could not understand the adults that had worked so hard to destroy what a young girl had worked so hard at. To also know that if she hadn't worked so hard no one would have cared . We live in a society that is becoming more and more anti success. Demonizing anyone who dares to try harder and does to good. A bad lazy athlete can go any where with out a peep. This will turn out for the good. I have to believe that.
