A+ documentary. Disappointed Malone didn’t want to come on it but I know he went underground after his career so not surprised there. I’ll appreciate the side stuff this documentary brought like about Steve Kerr’s father. Never knew any of that.

What you guys want to do now?

Lance Armstrong 30 for 30 takes its place on sunday night for the next two weeks.  I envision that will be pretty good...

Didn’t Karl Malone get a 13 year old girl pregnant while he played in the NBA? Heard he was a massive POS.

He was 20 at the time, sophomore in college. Still not a great decision though. It only came out when he was in the NBA when the family had a paternity test done.

I concur.  I was not aware of Kerr's father.   That sort of explains why he is vocal on certain social issues. (speaking of, I have seen this more than once in places around the world, who thought it is a good idea to have a place called American University in areas that just dont like us?)

I had thought I read that Stockton "didnt want to be involved in a Jordan fluff piece" and thought he was not going to be on, but maybe I misread and it was supposed to be Malone.

Overall, this was an absolute fantastic series.  I remember first seeing a promo about it 18 months out and couldnt wait. The producer on the SVP show said they just finished Ep 10 on Thursday!   There were a lot of things I didnt know, or at least forgot, and man this just solidifies my thoughts on MJ.

Kudos to how it was put together.   Some didnt like the back and forth from the first three peat to the second, but I liked it.

Not many things exceed expectations, but this did.

I liked that Malone got on their bus before they left and congratulated them.

And then Bird came to sew off MJ after game 7, they hug and MJ says “bitch, fuck you” lol

Yeah, both of those were classic.

One thing I took that will go unnoticed by many is how he talked about his "entourage"/security and how he said he wanted to surround himself with older, experienced folks to keep him a bit grounded, advise etc.

I think what gets a lot of famous people in trouble is too many surround themselves with yes men who are afraid to stand up to them.  With MJ surrounding himself with Gus as a older, father figure is something other famous folks should follow.

I can remember opposing student sections taunting Kerr when he was in college. In today's world, it is hard to believe that happened.

I can still remember the Syracuse student section throwing bananas at Patrick Ewing. Anything went back then.

Also if you order a pizza in a hostile away setting and five dudes deliver it - knowing who they’re delivering to - you probably shouldn’t eat that pizza. Unless you’re Michael Jordan I guess.

I don’t believe that story at all. MJ was hungover, in my opinion.

I was think that too. But the food poisoning thing is weird too. Jordan’s probably hanging out with a half dozen other guys and literally no one else has a single slice of pizza?

I was also surprised the amount of debate there is whether he pushed off on his last shot but it just barely touches on Miller body checking him out of the way to get off his game winner.

Not sure why he’d lie about pizza but then talk about his gambling issues, rumors or retiring in 93 and father’s death

Read about that today, apparently MJ spit on it (and had done it before) so no one would eat it!

I dont recall the pushoff from Reggie, presume it was a big deal at the time and much more obvious than MJs last shot.   He foreshadowed that play a few eps ago talking how Russell get his momentum going and does not take much to use that to the shooter's advantage.

I actually buy in to what he, and Costas said, about how minimal that hand on the backside was to the play the more I look at it.  Plus, does it really matter?   Those sort of things happen all the time in all of sports

It was probably a lot less than 18 hours. MJ was notorious for going out all night, and they were in the Mountain Time Zone for that game.

Reggie was more of a foul than MJ, but I honestly am not sure either of them were fouls in the NBA at that point (and maybe not even now). If you watch the Reggie play with Jordan, he pushes, but only after Jordan kinda steps into his way. If Reggie had tried to run straight to top of the key, that would've become a foul on MJ. Jordan is Jordan, but Reggie was All-NBA, so neither was likely getting a call there.

It’d be interesting to see that play happen in the NBA now but substitute Harden for Jordan. Where would he flop back to? Half court? Other side of the court? Locker room?
