And it’s more territory to cover for the defense. Not sure the exact but remember them talking about a pass in to the post being guarded yielded like .81 points whereas a 3 point attempt yielded like 1.24 points

Yeah, the math experts have definitely figured out that jacking up a decent three is better than a contested layup attempt. IE, a 3-2 fast break or something. But there has to be some sort of balance, imo, to actually open up decent looks. If you dont even attemmpt to go inside, I dont think a bunch of 3s is successful

So am I looking at this right that Portland will play one more game than Phoenix and Memphis? Phoenix literally won all 8 games in the bubble but are still likely missing the playoffs.

If the Nets beat Portland tonight, Grizz/Suns play 1 or 2 play-in games for the 8 seed. If Portland wins tonight, they get it

Ignore this.

If Portland wins, they play Memphis in the play-in. If the Nets win, the Suns play Memphis.

Right. So at the moment all three are 34-39, but Portland will play their 74th game tonight, giving them a chance to be in outright?

No. There is a play-in “tournament” no matter what because there are 2 teams within 4 games of the 8 spot. Records don’t necessarily “matter” all that much, as far as how many games played.

Q: How will the play-in tournament work?

If the team with the eighth-best record in its conference is more than four games aheadof the team with the ninth-best record in the same conference, no play-in tournament will be necessary. The final playoff berth will simply go to the team with the eighth best record (regular-season games + seeding games).

But if the team with the eighth-best record in its conference is four games or fewer ahead of the team with the ninth-best record in the same conference, then we'll have a battle for the final spot between those two teams.

The tournament will basically be a best-of-two series -- where the No. 9 seed will have to win two head-to-head matchups to take over the No. 8 spot.

Personally, I think it’s is dumb. If you aren’t the 8 seed, you don’t make the playoffs. But since they brought soooo many Western Conf teams, they had to do something.

But yeah, the Suns will be fucked because they played a game less than Portland. But this was known going in, because teams hadn't played the same amount going into the bubble. So, they all agreed to go off winning percentage, not W/L, for seeding.

What’s the tie breaker with Memphis and Phoenix? Memphis won more head to head matchups?

I would assume so.

Hope tonight’s game is good. I’d imagine Portland blows them out but it’d be fun to see it go down to the wire.

Portland struggling in the 3rd. Brooklyn is a sneaky entertaining team to watch. Can’t wait for Kyrie to ruin that chemistry next season. This game is prime for Lillard to go off in the 4th.

That was awesome. Wish Lavert hasn’t settled. Didn’t make a shot outside the paint all half, and was destroying them with finishes around the rim.

Oh well.
