Was that the year Clemens his teammate went 20-3 but had great run support while Mussina was hard luck?

That was his last year in Baltimore.  He was second on the team in wins, as teammate Jose Mercedes had a career-high 14 wins that year.

That's not far off the record now, as I recall, and Thigpen isn't in the Hall, so this has to be pre-Thigpen.

I’m confused. I think it’s still Eck? If Thigpen is the one who kept it from him, we are looking at someone in the 80s. And he would’ve likely had it with a different season before his bigger ones, no?

Sutter?  Didn't he lead the league a bunch in saves in the '80s?  Nasty splitter.

Eck had 45 in 1988....Dave Righetti had 46 in 1986

I cheated, because I got mad about Eck lol. But I am through BBREF save seasons and I must’ve missed something. As far as I can tell, of what they list (top 550 of so seasons), no HOFer ever had all time season. I’m into the 60s.

Well that’s a trick question since he only tied Quisenberry who did it the year before!

Question #38:

Of all the players in MLB history with at least 380 career HRs, only six of them had fewer than 1,000 strikeouts in their careers.  Four of them came before 1970: Stan Musial (696 career SOs), Lou Gehrig (790), Mel Ott (896), and Ted Williams (709)

Of the two since 1970, only one is in the Hall of Fame.  The other is not.

Name the last two.

Sheffield JUST went over I think. Pujols likely over. Frank Thomas seems a decent guess
