Mayfield > Jimmy G minus other assets.

Yep, agreed.

Chris Mortensen said that even if the Browns don't land Watson they will be moving on from Mayfield because they want an "adult" at QB. Leads me to believe that the FO believes that part of Mayfield (attitude) can't be fixed. He has criticized the playcalling/coaching.

They need some adults in the front office first.

Supposed package the Browns offered for Watson was:

1st Rounders- 3

2nd rounders- 1

Denzel Ward

Nick Chubb

Bro if they gave them that I would quit watching

Take this FWIW, but hearing the Browns are in the "drivers seat" which means he's probably going to ATL.

Saints had second meeting with him last night. I hope he makes a decision today.

Just saw that. Now hearing it's between the Saints/Falcons and the Browns pitch may have been to free up another QB (Matt Ryan?) for a trade. I could live with Matt Ryan for a couple of years until they got their long-term solution in place. This is coming from Nathan Zegura who covers the Browns. I can't imagine this to be true.

Browns have officially been notified that they are out of the running on Watson (phew)....

Honestly, I think Mayfield might be a little better than Jimmy G, but we're splitting hairs.

Maybe a straight-up swap to see if a change of scenery works for either guy?  Both are in the last year of their contract, but Jimmy G makes about $6M more.

Or do they grab Mariota as a cheap option?  Probably makes more sense than Jimmy G, and seems the decision to move on from Mayfield has been made.

Being the Browns, they might try to trade up to draft Pickett or Willis.

If he goes to ATL I can see them trying to get Matt Ryan. If he goes to the Saints it's probably friggin' Jimmy G with Mayfield getting moved to Carolina, Indy or Seattle.

Give Baker one more chance healthy.

If he plays like end of 2020 season Baker, we'll be fine. If he doesn't... see ya later.

That would be my wish but I think the ties have been severed. I would be floored if he was back.

Ryan is the only one I'd take over Baker. No on Jimmy G, Mariota, or Jameis.

Doubt SF would trade Jimmy G for Mayfield due to the fact they have a QB they burned a couple of 1st's on going into his second year. Don't think they'd want to muddy the waters. And man I hope it's not Mariota or Winston.

Eh, he's under contract right? So he doesn't have much of a choice. And he wont tank b/c he'll be playing for his next contract. If that means he plays well and leaves so be it.

Who else is left?  Kaepernick?

Unless Ryan becomes available, it's either those two or draft a QB in a weak class.  Maybe trade for Jordan Love?

Or - cough cough - Mason Rudolph might be available.

Such a fucking clown show. This has Haslam's greasy fingers all over it. Until he's no longer the owner this team will never advance.

Well is sounds like Matt Ryan is taking the same stance as Mayfield. Feels the "bridge has been burnt."

He's interesting.  But old Matt Ryan - outdoors in the AFCN - might not be any better than Mayfield.

Where's Frank Ryan when you need him.
