I bet Patty Schurmur's hubris "knows no bounds", and thinks he can turn Davis Webb into Case Keenum.

What did we give up when we moved up one spot (from 4 to 3) to get Trent Richardson?

I also think moving 2 to 1 deserves MUCH more than a 2nd.

A 4th, 5h, and 7th.  They also weren't trading up for a QB.

The QB is huge. If Bills want a QB my asking price for 4 is both 1sts, 2nd, 1st next yr, and White.

All of this stuff with Darnold being the "clear cut, obvious choice" seems too easy to me. Plus, I'm already annoyed with these dumbass East Coast NFL guys calling him "Dar-Noe" instead of "Dar-nold" like he's French or some shit.

I think he's pretty clearly the #1 now. I'd be surprised if Cleveland didn't take him.
I've never heard ANYONE call him Dar_noe lol.. where do you hear this shit?

Friggin; Greg Cosell started it and the East Coast analysts have followed. Just sounds stupid.

JPP traded to Tampa. Wonder if that means the Giants might grab Chubb? This draft class sucks for edge rushers.

Browns news (disregard the MKC part....she's regurgitating Schefter's info)...

Mary Kay Cabot@MaryKayCabot

The are interested in former WR Allen Hurns, a league source confirmed. First reported by @AdamSchefter . Source tells me no visit set up with Browns yet

BSPN did a regrade of last yr's draft:

Cleveland Browns

Post-draft grade: B

There was a lot of good in this class. First overall pick Myles Garrett was an absolute monster when he was on the field, racking up seven sacks and 18 quarterback knockdowns. Safety Jabrill Peppers had some growing pains in a deeper role but improved when he was moved closer to the line. Tight end David Njoku flashed with 32 catches for 386 yards and four touchdowns. Defensive tackles Larry Ogunjobi and Caleb Brantley were useful in the rotation. Seventh-round pick Matthew Dayes was a decent kick returner. Kicker Zane Gonzalez got better as the season progressed. Cleveland landed the No. 4 overall pick in 2018 by trading down with Houston.

There was also a lot of bad in this class, which should be expected for a team that went 0-16. Quarterback Deshone Kizer was a turnover machine and probably never should have been playing, and Cleveland has already moved on from him. Garrett played only 500 snaps after dealing with an ankle injury. Peppers played out of position for a good chunk of the season. Oh, and Cleveland missed on its quarterback of the future by trading down with the Texans and not taking Deshaun Watson.

Look, that's always going to be the "What if?" for this class. The front office focused on building up draft capital and missed on Watson. Now that regime is out, and the Browns are in the same position, with the Nos. 1 and 4 picks in April's draft, plus a bevy of Day 2 picks. Will they hit on a quarterback this time? If not, people will still talk about Watson and what could have been. But there are some good pieces in this class, and what the new front office does with its 2018 picks will have a big effect on how we look back at the 2017 draft.

New grade: B-

Round/Pick Name Pos College
1/1 Myles Garrett DE TEXAS A&M
1/25 Jabrill Peppers S MICHIGAN
1/29 David Njoku TE MIAMI
2/52 DeShone Kizer QB NOTRE DAME
3/65 Larry Ogunjobi DT CHARLOTTE
4/126 Howard Wilson CB HOUSTON
5/160 Roderick Johnson OT FLORIDA STATE
6/185 Caleb Brantley DT FLORIDA
7/224 Zane Gonzalez K ARIZONA STATE
7/252 Matthew Dayes RB NC STATE

I'd say B- seems too high given we had 3 1st rounders
and only 1 of them looks like a pro bowl talent, 1 is useless, and 1 is still a big project

Sounds like everyone's in love with Darnold and I'm starting to be convinced he will be the #1 pick. I'll give the dude his due, opting to throw in the rain at his Pro Day versus throwing before the rain came, took some stones. I chuckled when he pulled a Manziel and said "Perfect. I don’t care if it rains. I’m trying to go to Cleveland." Sounds like his version of "let's wreck this league" but the more & more I'm hearing about him, the more I'm warming up to him.

Also think that Chubb will now be taken at #2. I've pivoted on the Barkley/Minkah/Ward possibilities at 4 and am going Quenton Nelson. Has great footwork and can supposedly play either LG or LT. If LT doesn't work, slide Bitonio out there and make it a mofo of an O-Line. Grab someone like Guice, if he's there, with an early 2nd.

The more & more I hear about Minkah Fitzpatrick, the more I hope they shy away from him. Sounds like a more talented version of Jabrill Peppers...very athletic but a "tweener" without a true position. Probably better suited to safety but that position seemed covered by the kid from Green Bay.

YEah, I didn’t like hearing that Minkah is a “tweener” player. He’s way more talented than Peppers but still the similarities are there.

As long as they draft Darnold, because of his tape and not from a fucking workout.

Exactly. What’s crazy is that 2 people can watch the OSU game and one will say he sucked and another will say even tho they looked bad he showed why he should be #1. Glad I don’t make the decisions.

I hope Chubb doesn’t go 2, but such a good trade spot at 4 if he does for someone who wants the 3rd qb.

I hate when hype builds up behind a qb after a pro day but I’m stickin to Darnold/ Chubb.

I hope Chubb slides to 4 because I really think he's going to be better than Garrett.

Heard a stat today where he had the most combined sacks & TFL of any player since 2005? Guy is constantly in the backfield and he wasn't playing against slouch competition.

For as bad as the secondary has blown, a pass rush rotation of Chubb/Garrett/Ogbah could cover up a lot of those warts.

And one of the things that's starting to sell me on Darnold is that I've heard he has ice in his veins and is unflappable. Prior to the the bowl game a few years ago against Penn State, who had a fierce pass rush at the time, they asked him about the game and he said "I'm stoked....this is going to be fun," No concerns over the opponents, etc just wanted to play ball. Still concerned about his fumbling issues but at least his problems aren't inaccuracy (Allen) or head injuries (Rosen).

That's a HOTTAEK right there BR! I personally don't see it, but if he were a brown I'd love to see him try.
