What are your guy’s expectations for next week @Houston?

BM and Watson are fairly similar to me. Texans have elite receiver.

Browns have good confidence going...and Mayfield seems pretty responsible for that

Time for the Texans to come down to earth. Worst oline in the game, I expect Myles to dominant. Also, time for DW's shitty accuracy to come into play and throw a few INTs. Browns get the W

To IM's point, agreed. Texans have played a who's who of the worst teams.

Checking out Watson’s game stats I just realized how meh the Texans schedule has been during this win streak. They've not been dominant but have been constant winners.

Opponents win % is .429 which is the easiest in the league. Believe they've faced 2 teams with winning records.

They seem to be over the “we’re teh Brownz” hump. Way more confident that they can finish games, but those have mostly been home games. They are 1-4 on the road. That’s gotta be one of their next steps.

Once they get a lead, running out the clock is their biggest issue. The O-Line has been playing well but they aren't good enough to just punch the opponent in the mouth for 2-3 straight plays and pick up that first down that allows them to run out the clock. Always have to punt it away and hope the other team doesn't score.

Texans really don't impress me that much. Not saying the Browns will beat them but they play in arguably the crappiest division in the AFC (neck & neck with the AFC East, minus the Pats). They will get in the playoffs but will be a one & done team.

So it sounds like these "leaks" (Condi Rice HC interview, Rueben Foster signing) to Schefter were designed to sniff out a mole. I don't have the name but it sounds like someone in Berea got fired today.

Where do you see this?

One thing I don’t like, is how we sent Carl Nassib packing. Feels like every week I see his name on highest ranked DE lists. Think Dorsey missed on that one.

I agree. I'm prob being a homer, but I'll throw out Meder as well. Conley has been fairly disappointing this yr IMO and terrible against the run according to PFF. Meder wasn't a world beater, but I think he could be better than that. End of the day, Meder is a bottom of the roster guy, but I loved his motor and story.

Wasn’t Nassib more of a cap hit? As in, DE was a position of strength and they couldn’t afford to keep guys? I never got the feeling Dorsey thought he wasn’t talented, but more DE was pretty loaded and he was fighting it out with decent other guys.

Not a cap hit as we have like $10000000B in cap space. DE is not a strength, we have Myles and Ogbah and no one else. I mean Chris Smith, Zettle, and Chad fucking Thomas. EWW

He is still on his rookie contract, so I don't think it was a cap hit.  Their starting d-line has been taking a lot of snaps.  They could have easily used the depth.

And to add to that, not just depth. But he’d be one of the best players on our D line this year. He’s playing like one of the best D-lineman in the NFL. On a rookie contract!

Anybody have PFF?  I wouldn't mind seeing his overall grade this season.

They’re the ones who keep tweeting things I’m seeing about him being rated so high. Had over a 90 grade in Sunday’s game.

I thought Denzel was a reach at 4.  So far I am happy to say I was wrong.  Also wasn't on board with Baker #1, also so far happy to say I am wrong lol.

Lol I was mad about Baker. Loved the ward pick tho. Maybe that was me being an osu homer, but I’m so sick of the browns passing on good osu players.

Just a really good top of the draft for the Browns. Mayfield seems to be changing the entire team’s attitude along with his really good play and Ward is really really good. Not sure you could want more out of a rookie CB

I'm thrilled with the Ward (wanted Baker & Chubb) pick but I'm not going to scoff at Chubb's 9 sacks as a rookie with 5 games left. Granted, he benefits from Von Miller but he'd likely also benefit from Myles Garrett too.

On another topic, heard Baker doing another press conference today. The people who interview that dude have to love it and eat that shit up. So smooth and engaging with the "no fucks given" attitude. That's got to fire his teammates up and make them want to run through a brick wall for him.

This team has acquired some cornerstone players in Mayfield, Ward, Chubb & Garrett in these last two drafts. 2019 FA and the draft is going to make this team pretty scary if they don't hire some dufus at HC.

Never going to happen but a lot of Browns fans "wet dreams" would be for Bosa to somehow fall to them.

pretty cool...

MY CAUSE, MY CLEATS. This weekend, a few NFL players will be donning special cleats to promote causes that are dear to them. Denzel Ward is one of them, wearing his to promote heart health awareness after his father died of a heart attack in 2016.

From SI.com:

“Representing this cause is in my dad’s name. Before he passed away in 2016 from a heart attack, he had a motto he used to always say: ‘Make them know your name.’ Either on the football field, or in the world, impacting people in a positive way and doing things to make the world know your name.”

“I want to bring awareness to heart health, preventing heart attacks and educating people on using things like an AED (automated external defibrillator) to help resuscitate people who may be going through a heart attack. My dad had his heart attack during a spin class, and there was actually a defibrillator there at the facility, but it was sitting on the wall and no one used it. So, more training, more devices and more educating people on how to use a defibrillator. It’s not very hard to use it, so just educating people and giving them confidence so they’re not afraid to use it. If someone would have used it on my dad, he could have had a chance to still be alive.”

“My dad motivates me every day. That was my best friend, someone who I wanted to make proud throughout life. He was a school principal, so that’s what he was all about, giving back and doing whatever he could to change peoples’ lives. I remember that his funeral was packed with all the people he had impacted—the kids he had worked with, teachers, friends. He made people know his name, and that’s what motivates me.”

The cleats themselves are pretty fantastic:

Denzel Ward's cleats

Back in the olden days, they used to fine players for wearing cleats that flashy. Now, they're promoting it as a cause. I sure ain't mad about it.
