I took a new job this year.  It is crazy hours (4 turn swing shift), but honestly...I am super happy.  I actually dreaded taking the job since I was only doing it for monetary reasons, but it seems to have worked out so far.  I am just curious if most people on here are happy or just waiting for something better to come along?

I'm happy with my current gig. There are some drawbacks for sure, like with any job. I make great money, hours can be insane at times, love my company/team, always a few assholes. Overall, yeah solid.

The best parts of my job are the money and i work from home. I get a decent amount of pto and since i work from home i can basically work from anywhere. We're spending a month in Germany with my wife's family. 

Also i prefer more technical work and right now I'm a data analyst trying to combine data from different sources and figure out where the data differs and which data is correct. I don't really enjoy that. (Garbage in, garbage out imo) 

My boss is super smart but i don't really like her. I can basically do nothing to please her. If i have 2 choices to make and i pick one she will complain that i should have picked the other one. If i ask she will tell me i should have known which one to pick. My team is ok. I think part of my issue is that i REALLY liked the team i was on last but they reorged and i would have had to move to stay on that team. It was really arbitrary and stupid. My old team was in Atlanta and a Sr vp decided they didn't want anyone in Ohio. I could have moved to California or any other state with an office and kept that job still working with my team in Atlanta. 

After closing my bussiness, collect SS, military disability increase, some investment income I thought I would be content.

i was wrong, I needed to work it was just who I am. The wife has 2 more year before she can retire at her job, so I when back to work.

It's a little hard not having that freedom as a owner I once had but who I work for is understanding, we both know that I don't need this job however I work hard and have contributed a lot. The company sale have increased, new customers are up and larger corporation business has increase. I enjoy my work, have fun doing whatever it is, take pride in what I do and just take everything in stride. I don't think I will ever completely stop working or do something.... 

Yes. Plenty of good staff members to outweigh the sucky. Lots of really good kids. I’m in year #20.

My job can be frustrating at times, but overall I'm very happy where I work. 

I am really enjoying my retirement!

I enjoy my work.

I would retire tomorrow if I could, but I don't have any complaints about my current job. For me it's a job, not a career.

I wouldn’t do it if they didn’t pay me.

Mostly work from home.

Autonomy.  Work load is leveraged by how efficient I am.

Company Car for when I do leave the home office.

I'm good.

I like what I do, and for the most part, like the people I work with.  But "happy" is such a relative term.  My kids are about the only thing that truly make me happy.

Why do you thihk that is? I mean it's great that you love you kids, not questioning that. More curious why they're the only thing that can make you truly happy [as a person without a child].

Love what I do. Sure beats working in college athletics.

We'll see what the future holds. A lot of ambitions from my ownership. Pretty exciting to be along for the ride.

I like my job as much as I’m going to like a job I guess. Young (big) company still growing, with a plan for promotion in the next year. My local boss is chill and my schedule is flexible, but we do answer to out of country management which is annoying and turns into a cluster fuck every other day. The job got me to where I wanted to live so I will stay as long as I see a future there.

 Because local admin can get in the way, the state government wants to take away your power, and common core is worthless?

I like what I do but at times it can be difficult with all of the rapid changes corporate is pushing with the acquisition of Rite Aid in chunks. Essentially we will be take the whole company over and rival CVS, but they’re attempting to get the entire distribution chain on the same exact page down to the operating procedures which is hard enough with other shifts, let alone completely different buildings in different regions. 

I’m fortunate to be making the living I do in my mid 20s in this area, and Walgreens is a great company to work for. Insurance is okay, but 3 hours of paid vacation a week, tons of giveaways and a very team oriented environment all based on the fact we are hell bent on adhering to Lean Six Sigma 100% of the way. The downfall is with lean and the new version of ISO 9001 you are constantly doing projects and audits on how to improve processes, coming up with metrics that add to the ones already in place to measure improvement, is incredibly time consuming. 

I cant complain however, most of my buddies and classmates at BG that have moved into the supply chain field seem to be in places where everyone is just yelling at each other all day to move their asses. I’d probably be canned or suspended for yelling at one of my employees

Hey, welcome back.  Where've you been?

I like my job/work. I know I’m underpaid which makes me always want to look, but I always fear sacrificing the flexibility I have in my job for more pay wouldn’t be worth it. I’ll probably half ass look til I find something I know would be worth it. 

Love my career. Unlimited income potential, part owner of the company, can work from home when I need to, etc. When I first came into my industry in 1993, I was looking for a career when I could make the "most money possible" and I actually went to a career services type individual for guidance. At the time, he told me "stock broker" or "executive recruiter" so I looked into recruiting. Funny part is that they made me take a career assessment profile to see what career would be best and I was told the last thing I should do is sales. They recommended "Army drill sergeant." Guess I overcame that. lol
