I was referring to this article I read this morning

https://www.theguardian.com/global-development-professionals-network/2015/mar/13/white-people-expats-immigrants-migration?CMP=share_btn_fb

So, you pretty much proved my point that I have made numerous times.  You can't come up with your own opinions.  You read this op-ed and then posted it as your own take lol. Now you're playing it off as "referring" to the article, even though your original post made no mention of the article.

This article is the equivalent of the "damn white people and *shuffles deck of cards* and (insert made up victim terminology)" meme.  As gut said, I have never heard anyone call anyone an expat other than people who live/work abroad, whether it is in the US or another country.  An immigrant is referred to anyone who migrates to another country.   The author of this article from siliconafrica.com is just pulling a fake controversy out of his ass.   Some people just chose to find a reason to always be miserable I guess.

I agreed with the article. How else do you form and opinion. You either read something or experience something. In the future I will post sources lol sheesh

FIFY.

Normally if you're going to use an op-ed as your own opinion, then you would post the article and provide your take.  "I read this article.  I agree, because blah blah blah."  Look at O-Trap's "Democrat Hamburger" thread as an example.  This is pretty basic stuff.

Why were you reading an article from 2015, from an author who has 2000 followers on twitter and hasn’t posted since 2016? With other articles like “100 amazing African cities completely destroyed by Europeans”.

You agreed with the article bc you don’t understand what words mean. Expat isn’t a color. If a black US citizen goes to England for work, he’s an expat.

This is one of those libertarian takes that I can't get behind.  It's definitely a point of contention with those who consider themselves libertarian.  I think you can be a libetarian and have much higher standards for border security.

It was posted in a thread on Twitter I was reading. It fits with many other things I have said here and I agreed with the way some people who go to other countries for work are viewed. You can agree or dis

Well, I basically teeter on the line between minarchist/libertarian and complete anarchocapitalist (might change depending on the day).

If one opposes the existence of the state, then one generally opposes the existence of guarded state borders.

Plus, hopping over an imaginary line, whether guarded or not, doesn't violate the NAP or even the most liberal use of John Stuart Mill's minimalist ethic.

I still strongly adhere to a philosophy that backs individual property rights, but it's because they're the property of private individual.

Plus, since the government is technically a public entity, and the border (and the property used by government to guard it) is subsequently public land, and land itself is included as one of the means of production, then technically, federal land or government property is a socialist concept.

To even bring up open borders is stupid. No one is for open borders. You only deal with extremes. I’m sure there is a term for that but it’s hard to take u seriously when u always give an extreme example that is mostly not true to prove a point

You seriously aren’t paying attention if you don’t believe the left wants open borders now.

LOL, things Gblock perceives to be true....

- a lot of people are secretly white nationalist who only reveal themselves at Trump rallies

- no one wants open borders

- calling someone an immigrant is racist

- Trump is President because of gerrymandering

I understand what the word meant jackass. The point was it’s not applied the same for everyone. I wasn’t talking about people showing up at the border seeking asyl

Those were your statements, not mine.  Seems kind of bizarre to say "there you go with extremes" when someone is simply repeating what you've said.

If that’s your level of understanding and education off of what I said I can’t help you. Nothing is ever in absolutes that I have ever said

You realize he literally quoted things you have said, and you called them “extreme”. Just saying, you are calling your own statements extreme.

Your original post about expats and immigrants shows you did not know the difference in the words. Similar to gerrymandering and it’s role in POTUS elections.

Then I think you should look-up the definition of the words you're using before posting.

And I didn't quote any absolutes, I simply quoted you.

Eh, most of the ones I've come across don't.  They do want a faster process and lower bar, but remember, most liberals are big on growing social programs.  Social programs are paid for, in a major way, through taxes.  Taxes are achieved most easily through people's income being tracked, a la citizenship or legal, documented presence.

I said the left not liberals, classic liberals you are right. I meant the current left.

Well, classical liberals don't care about generating tax revenue as much, because they believe in smaller government.

The current left, on the other hand, seems pretty keen on taxing people to pay for public initiatives.  But you can't tax someone's income if they're undocumented.
