2010 Wayne County Athletic League Football

  • oh yeah!!
any ideas of who won county on the jv level?
  • Havin Fun
No clue on jv. Not sure it means a whole lot. Many teams are playing so many underclassmen on varsity so not sure what it would tell you? NW has a freshman starting varsity so what would he have done if playing jv?
  • oh yeah!!
just curious never know who the next big star could be.....
  • Havin Fun
Not putting you down Oh Yeah at all. To look for the next big stars just look who was contributing at the varsity level. Guys like Noletti(?) freshman NW
Stanley, Strasbaugh, Orr sophmores @ Waynedale along with a ton of juniors.
Norwayne, Smithville + Bates spoh & Hillsdale have a ton of juniors who are bigtime players
Did not see much out of the underclassmen at Rittman, Dalton or Chippewa but I know they each have some talent.
I see some great balance in the league for the next 3-5 years. There will be no more teams that dominate year in year out like in years past.

pretty sure daily record prints stats that the coach calls in
  • 1486wd
not sure on the tackle count but the kid is a serious handful for o lineman

One thing is for sure.... You're missing Sahagian from Rittman as one of you're linebackers. For most of the year, haven't seen the stats in a while, he was leading or at least near the top of the league in tackles. He's also a great leader out there and is also one helluva lineman.

BAUMAN,FULK OR BLEVINS ARE YOUR TOP 3
  • OQB
this award is between Fulk and Bauman...I hope they give it to Bauman, cause without him how good is Rittmans record?
  • madman11
Bauman is the MVP no doubt. Without him, they would start a sophomore quarterback and not have one of their leading tacklers on defense. Throw in the fact that Bauman-Turbeville is probably one of the best QB-WR hookups in the area and there is no way that anybody is more important to their team's success.

My prediction but remember I picked the Vikings to win the Super Bowl last year and the Eagles the year before

4RINGZ- looks like your preseason predictions were pretty far off. Just shows the small competition difference in the WCAL. One of my favorite season to watch in recent memory. Here are what the records are as of now......

    Hillsdale (V, 18) 6-0 8-1
    Norwayne (V, 17) 6-0 8-1
    Rittman (VI, 21) 3-3 5-4
    Northwestern (V, 17) 3-3 4-5
    Dalton (VI, 21) 3-3 6-3
    Smithville (V, 17) 1-5 1-8
    Waynedale (V, 17) 2-4 2-7
    Chippewa (VI, 21) 0-6 0-9

WCAL like other leagues calls it Player of the Year which means most outstanding. I don't think it should come down to well if this player wasn't on the team they wouldnt be as good argumnets so theyre an MVP. They should pick who had the best season. That being said I'd still put Bauman, Falk and Wallace up for the honor and let ssee what happens Friday!
  • OQB
What a great way to end the season with a true championship game....

I can't think of a team that will miss a player as much as the Indians will miss Bauman. He has been a four year starter on offense and defense. All these seniors deserve a lot of credit for sticking with the program for what they went through as freshman and sophmores. Good luck to all the teams this week.

On the MVP/POY discussion, it's probably going to come down to 4 people (Bauman, Fulk, Blevins & Wallace). All are worthy of the award. It will be interesting to see who the coaches pick.

madman & buckeyefan make a strong case for Bauman. Hes had a stellar year & career for the tribe. Beating the Huskies this friday to help Rittman to a winning season would be icing on the cake, especially after the last couple of years. The downside is lack of wins over quality opponents, it killed Rittmans very slim playoff hopes and it will probably be the only mark against Bauman. Don't scream at me tribe fans, I know Busson got it last year on a team that had almost no success. Just throwin' it out there cause it's true.

Blevins year and career are somewhat similar to Baumans, the big difference is Dalton has had much more success and a much better supporting cast (Hackett, Lint, Miller, Zeke, etc., etc., etc.) actually you could make an argument for Hackett as MVP/POY. The Dawgs have at least one quality win and played a much more rigorous schedule than Rittman. The downside is Dalton hasn't lived up to their own expectations this year and the playoffs are even in question. Not to mention, can you win MVP/POY for the WCAL, but not be MVP/POY of your own team?

Wallace can't be left out of the conversation. He has powered a very talented cast to multiple quality wins and has excellent career and season statistics. The Cats played a strong schedule and came very close to besting Collins WR. The only downside, and this is knitpickng, is Norwayne often seems to play down to opponents, then turn it on just in time to win.

Hillsdale deserves some awards this year. Fulk is their leader and ought to get something. Granted, the Falcons have a bunch of high quality players and easily have the deepest squad in the WCAL. Arguments for MVP/POY could be made for 4 or 5 Falcons. Hillsdale upgraded their schedule (still needs work) they have quality wins and they have gone up against a powerhouse and played better than the score indicated. If they knock off Norwayne this Friday, I think Fulk should take MVP/POY and Williams should get Coach of the Year.
I realize a Hillsdale sweep comes heavily at the expense of Rittman (Bauman,Bescanson-2nd choice for coach of year) but if Hillsdale picks up that elusive first title after 41 years, they should get the trimmings as well. Just my opinion.
  • Buckeyefan34
All four of those boys are great players. We will just have to leave it up to the coaches.
  • Falcon
I have been sitting back and reading all of your thoughts on the MVP/POY. First of all, whom ever shall recieve the nod, should be based on this year alone(none of this well has had a great career). Which automatically should eliminate Bauman. I agree he is a good player, but based on this year(in which the award is for) he shouldn't be considered. I believe Wallace, Faulk and possibly Blevins or Hackett should be considered. Not trying to ruffle any feathers, but that is the way it should be.
  • Buckeyefan34
As fans, I don't think we have the right to eliminate any of these boys. Coaches will take everything into consideration.
  • Hogger53
POY= either Fulk or Wallace.IMO, they are the 2 best players (skill positions) on the 2 best teams. POC(player of a career)= Bauman.....hands down. It's going to be tough this year for coaches to decide. Even Blevins deserves consideration. I will be happy with POY choice no matter who the coaches choose.
All the boys have played the hearts out, week in and week out. Watching Bauman run the ball against my Falcons was very impressive....would have loved to had all those boys on our team when we played DSJ. Recruiting is a beautiful thing! Best of luck to all the teams Friday night...GO FALCONS. Let's get that
    first WCAL championship!!!
  • Mr. Russell
Look at the stats in the paper today, you guys are crazy if you don't think the M.V.P. of the league is Bauman.......

10 more td's than wallace, with one less interception
    More passing yards
    More rushing yards
    More tackles

I would take Wallace anyday on my team, but come on now, there is clearly an advantage for Bauman this year looking at the numbers.

With that being said, I also don't even think he has had the best career, they sucked for 3 years, just because he was a 4 year letterman doesn't mean he had the best career, Hackett could get that nod.

Also, these accolades are nice, but I am sure the players for Norwayne/Hillsdale/Dalton would much rather be playing in week 11 than recieving an MVP award!
  • Buckeyefan34
I agree, Bauman could not have had the best career with the team they had, but he is having a great year and thats what we need to look at.
  • OQB
I believe the award is called the 2010 WCAL POY, that being said the voters need to concentrate on THIS year and who was the best player who was a big part of his teams success. In that case it would be Bauman. Rittman is 1-9 without him.

How does he not deserve it based on this year? He leads the league in passing, passing touchdowns, and is in the top 5 in rushing. I don't see how he could be "automatically eliminated"?
