2010 Wayne County Athletic League Football

Schrock should've retired after the 2006 season when he went 9-1. He wants one more WCAL championship though, he just ran out of Beichler's and Kaufman's.

I'm pretty much a died in the wool Husky fan and I can honestly say Hillsdale represents some major problems for the Huskies. If we're fortunate enough to stop their run game, I'm not sold that the Huskies can stop the Falcon pass game with those giant receivers. The one thing Northwestern has going for them is confidence from last years victory. The only problem with that is this ain't last year. I'm hoping for a good game but I wouldn't be surprised if the Falcons pulled away late.
Another issue nobodys touched on in a while is the Falcons recent history of choking in the last game or two. Coach Tommy Williams & company have got to be feeling the pressure. How will they react? They passed the Dalton test. Can they get by the Huskies & Bobcats to finish it? From the 2 times I've seen them play this year, I know they have the ability, we'll see if they have the heart.

The Norwayne vs Dalton affair is going to be interesting. I personally think its pretty simple though, as in most games that I've watched Dalton, if the Dawgs get the corner, the cats are in for a long night. The health of Hackett, Blevins & Lint is vital to Dalton.
Norwayne is talented and capable of beating the Dawgs. This game may be more entertaining than the Hill/NWN game.

Waynedale will pick up a "W" this week, in fact they will score 50 points and the Beast will roar!!

Nobody has been hit harder by injuries than Smithville. If they have enough healthy bodies to field a team they should scalp the tribe.

On the subject of mantooths visit. Not needed. It's time to ignore the choirboy crybabies and get back to business.

Bloody-Call me anything you want, you won't make me cry. so far all I've done is laugh.

To my law dog buddy Mr. Miyagi-it still freaks me out, I still say "SWIMFAN".

Hillsdale has a lot of size, that will be the advantage for them.

IDK what the deuce is going on here...but I just had to re-accept the "terms and conditions"...HUH???? IM QUICKLY LOSING ANY AND ALL INTEREST!

Red Rum...My Bears could score 100 and you wont hear me roar....i warned in the pre season that it would be a long year....in all reality, due to ridiculous actions by a few key players, (resulting in 2 game suspensions), another who quit the team and the Bears may be looking at Our 1st 0-10 season EVER............

The rest of the league is in fact intriguing.....

One more little comment...in 2003 The Bears AND the Riders were in the same Div/region....and the Bears did in fact play more games that year then Orrville did....just an FYI for enquiring minds.

Hillsdale does have a distinct size advantage but the Huskies have seen that before. McKean seems to be in tune with his recievers that could be fun to watch.

Red Rum brought up heart in a team. Advantage Northwestern. Those kids never give up.

With that being said Hillsdale could run rough shod over the Huskies and it could get ugly quick.

Hopefully a good game to watch for all who are there.

Yes, we were 6-4 that year and Waynedale was 9-1. The bears beat CVCA in first round, and lost to eventual state runner-up Villa Angela St. Joe 22-17. I was at that game on the bears side by the way. Orrville played Black River who handed it to us in convincing fashion, we played horrible and deserved to lose.

The Bears will not go 0-10. They are too good of a team for that. Hopefully this dismal season will serve as a wake up call for those in The Creek and they can get back on track in the near future.

Talked to some Norwayne dad's who have sons on the team, and they even said they have no idea how Wayndale hasn't won a game yet. They went on saying that they were probably the best team they played so far.
  • THE4RINGZ
Waynedale gave Triway a good scare. I don't want to be publically critical but those in the know realize the challenges they face.
  • 1_beast
COACHING/PLAY CALLING......I'll be the one to say it publicly, many in the know are very IRATE......Something needs to happen to right the ship....0-7????? Not posssible....but when you take over the ball on a fumble on your own goal line....why do you line up in a shot gun formation....because(and this is just a rumor), but i was told the coach thought we were on the 5...HUH??? then again...last year the Bears were better than 7-4.....FRESH LEGS DONT BEAT TIRED TALENTED ATHLETES

disclaimer: im only a fan and an armchair QB...echoing the sentiments of Bear Nation.....

That game, Josh "Purple Haze" Hendrix, (2000 yard rusher), nearly didnt play due to sickness....still was winable, a fumble or Int returned about 80 yards for a go ahead score, before the def TD the Bears were in the red zone ,....Bears were up and driving. (im not making excuses, just trying to highlight memories for folks who may of forgot...). VASJ was prob the most fould mouthed unsportsmanlike players/fans than i have witnessed.
  • OQB
1_beast, yes that was a very winable game for the bears.

As for that last sentance, that is all parochial schools.

Falcon;512716 wrote:I just think that it is ridiculous that when you are over 30 points down in the fourth quarter and you have been playing the opposing teams JV. That you should put your JV in. I mean I don't think that your varsity gains confidence scoring on JV and freshmen. I mean don't get me wrong, it is great for our young players to gain the experience from playing against varsity. But it is senseless. Have had a couple of teams do this, this falls on the coaching staff not the players.
With all due respect....when you are 0-7, I dont care if you put in the band up 30....my varsity obviously needs the playing time. Its not even an issue of "'gaining confidence", its more of an experience, timing, eliminating mental mistakes...etc. For 40 years we have benched our varsity for you, its nice you returned the favor ;)...on that note: it was awesome when you were up 28-0 to throw the long ball...is that classy horse pewp or just keeping the def honest?

I think Western Reserve was the best team Norwayne faced this year. WR just got done putting a smack down on Norwalk SP 42-21.
  • OQB
Yes, I am sure they meant "one of the best" teams they played all year, but they were right in that game against Western Reserve.
  • Hogger53
Waynedale has never tried to run the score on us, Smithville is a different story. I would have loved to have seen HHS beat SHS by 60, especially when the Smithies called a time out at the end of the game to try
to get more points on our freshman squad.
  • Hogger53
BTW, would be hard for anyone to argue that the Bears are the best 0-7 team in the state.

I have not seen WR play this year but I do know Norwayne beat CVCA which is a pretty good ball team. Heck they had a Guy rush for over 400 yards this week. No that is not a typo. So apparently Norwayne can shut down the run when necessary.

Holy Bat turds!!...thats crazy!...I heard the kid only carried the ball 17 times. I also have seen 3 different numbers on his total yards 398, 405, 417. It really don't matter which one it was....thats a night to remember. Norwayne didn't get enough credit for their non-wcal games, everybody talked about Smithville and Northwestern...it now seems the Bobcats should have been in that conversation.

Just trying to lighten the mood over here....

why are you guys posting on our "jv" thread anyway? I'm sure you have more important things to do, discussing real football somewhere

Now as far as the Orrville vs Ashland game, both teams are 5-1 and could just as easily be 6-0. It is going to be a great game and it is really up in the air as to who will win. Ashland has a great offense, Orrville has a great defense, it's goingto be a great game, you should come! :D I have gone to 2 Dalton games this year one against Smithville, and one against Northwestern. Being from Orrville though, and watching the Riders play div II, III, and IV schools (who make the playoffs consistantly) every week, it made me realize why Orrville never plays a WCAL team in football. It would really be no contest and the level of play of the WCAL is lower than the OCC. When I was watching Dalton/smithville and Dalton/NW I thought I was watching a jv team.

I know I am going to tick a lot of people off by that statement, but seriously before you get your panties in a bunch go to an OCC game and tell me if I am wrong. I even talked to the Dalton AD, and he even agreed with me. A very good WCAL team would be a mediocre team in the OCC.
THAT COULD BE SAID ABOUT OCC AGAINIST NBC AND THE MAC SCHOOLS . A VERY GOOD OCC WOULD BE A MEDIOCRE TM IN THE NBC AND THE MAC !! SO WHAT'S YOUR POINT!!

I heard 405 yards, but you are right when you live in that neighborhood who cares what your house number is?

Ok do a little research before you post. We scrimmage Minerva and Louisville every year (beat them 21-0 the year they made it to state 2007) We also play Northwest every year. Would say we win 80% of the time. As for the MAC, we played Coldwater once, and beat them, but this is the wcal let's stick to county football bud.

Ringz, that's a good line haha. Pretty impressive numbers.

Just checked the official stats. Utley rushed 17 times for 402 yards.
