I'm taking youngcoach and going to Baker's for the pregame. I hear he knows all the women in Bucyrus.

I agree 100%. This is one of the things I love about the Ohio High school football playoff system. Here we are down to eight teams in each division. And year after year the cream rises to the top. You can argue that maybe some of the top teams didn't make it. Just like in our Region with HL the 8 knocking off McDonold the 1. But on that night HL obviously was better. All that aside, if you are going to win state, you have to put together 5 great games in a row. And what makes this system really cool is a team with a not so great record can win it, if they are playing their best ball come playoff time. I do not know if a 6-4 or a 7-3 team has ever won state, but it is a possibility. Because as long as you make the playoffs, its a clean slate from there on out. Makes it exciting. I say all that to say this. Both Wynford and NSP are 12-0. After Saturday obviously one will be 13-0 and heading to the state semi's, the other will be 12-1. So no matter how you slice it, and oh yes I know all involved want that 13-0. But both these teams are winners with great seasons no matter who wins. But ew I want it to be us! LOL

    Go Royals!

Edited this post to say this:
I hope who ever wins this game gets to 15-0 and wins it all!

I remember back in the early 2000's when Bellevue was making a playoff run and a team from Columbus reached the state finals despite going 5-5 in the regular season.

I think several Newark Catholic teams of the last decade have made state title games going 6-4.

I see where the OHSAA has announced that the winner of this game will play the winner of Malvern/Grove City Christian game next Saturday at Ashland. Enough though of looking ahead.

Good luck to both teams Saturday!

from a mogadore fan, don't underestimate their speed or talent (NSP) from watching last weeks game. mogadore only lost to 2 teams & the other one (woodridge) is still kicking butt in D4. i've seen alot of high school football in my 50 years, but i don't think i've seen too many teams with the speed NSP displayed last week. i'll be shocked if they don't play delphos for the championship.

I too, am picking Norwalk St. Paul to be the guest of honor at the DSJ Invitational (aka: the Div. 6 state title game). I'd love to see them make it and knock off the Bluejays, but I'm skeptical as to whether it can happen.

As you probably know from my previous post. I know what you are saying is 100% true. And gobrowns I certainly did not mean in that post I mentioned Mogadore to imply you were not a good team. I know you were a good team. It just seemed that NSP got old Mo going on their side -then the flood gates opened. They are extremely fast, I know that. I scarily watched with my own two beady eyes. I do not think we are going to shut this offense down in any way shape or form. I am just hoping to get a few stops, maybe force an error or two. The one thing Wynford brings to the table I'm not sure NSP has seen this year is a team the size of Wynford and the way better then average team speed for a team this size, especially in D-6 football. Our O line is big and physical, and I think the most underrated part of our football team. I think they will be able to get a pretty good push. NSP kids are fast, blisteringly so, and fill D gaps very well. But I still think if we can get our backs on their Linebackers in a one on one situation we will win that battle, for the gains we need. For big gapping chunks of yardage? No probably not. But if we can get that contact 3 or 4 yards into the hole, all you need to do is average 3.5 -4 yards a pop. And move the chains. Do that and you are pretty hard to stop yourself. Is it pretty? Nope but it sure is effective. And this is what I think Wynford needs to do. It keeps NSP offense on the sidelines, and you expend more energy on Defense then you do on offense. Plus it shortens the game which I think favors Wynford. I would not want to get in a shoot out with NSP. We can pass it, as those that have seen Wynford play in the regular season know. But we stand a better chance of winning if we do not have to.

I don't think Wynford can win the game if they have to run their QB 30+ times. Wynford will need to mix the running game up with Brause and Niedermier and pass the ball to open up the run. If I'm Norwalk St. Paul, I limit Brause's running game and make another back or the passing game beat me.

I agree with that. I thnk the way to stop Brause is bring some penetration and disrupt the rhythm. The film I have seen, the defenders have been coming up and reading what Brause is going to do and trying to react. The WYnford line does a good job of getting ahold of people and establishing a surge and Brause steps around them or runs by them. St Paul needs to shed blockers and get penetration, use the speed and athletic ability to force the action. If St Paul tries the same defense they used last year against HL, Brause could have a big game.

royalnut, fair enough, i understand what you're saying. i didn't mean to stir anything up. i was just very impressed with this NSP team. i've seen them in past years, & they were good, but this seems like the best team i've seen them field. some teams match up better than others & maybe your team is one of them. good luck against st. paul.

The one thing I did not pay attention too. And I wish I would have. But can anyone tell me how many of NSP players go both ways? Almost all our kids do. Not all of em but most of em.
  • buckfan12

    One more day!

    tick tick tick

I have to go to my daughters play tonight.
I love her like crazy, and I know they work hard on these things.
But I would rather eat a bag a broken glass chased with a pint a draino

Ah it is usually not all that bad after you get yourself there.
  • RoyalNut
Just a side note, and yea I know I post too much!
But evidentally Wynford has kept this whole playoff thing pretty quiet at school
No pep rallies planned. nothing that I have heard of
I'm not even sure people are getting together to rah rah em getting on the bus?
We did do that last year. snickering (Maybe that is why we are not)

Royal the flyers like the royals have 8 kids playing both ways. Just another similarity between these two teams.

You know zaurus, this could become a rivalry for years to come. NSP is always there. You guys do not rebuild you just reload. We know that. But our cupboard is not going to be bare after Brause and the rest of these fine Sr's leave. Sure some of the kids we have right now will be hard to replace, but the classes behind them all have had good teams coming up through the earlier grades.

We have four sophomores that will see extensive playing time Saturday night. 3 of them start
#32 Luke Miller #85 Jered Butler #10 Zach Chatlain and #5 Seth Rall are all sophomores that play regularly.
That is a conversation for the future though

Royal, what kind of formations does your daughter's play run? Do many of them play in multiple scenes? Are they more of a size or speed troupe? Is the scenery natural or composite? How will it hold up to the weather?
Without having seen them this year its hard to predict how it will turn out, but here's hoping for some injury free theater tonight!

I don't know-Its rendition of a little known production called "Cow Tippers" this sounds to me like this could be more then just a little injury prone to be honest. I am just praying for no audience participation requirement. But given the title of this. I'm guessing they are mostly mudders, probably strong in the trenches.

sounds like an event definitely worthy of some proper tailgating. lol

And this is the reason I am NOT a betting man!

And yes 7 deep TB is a stud-no doubt about it.
But NSP have some kids that are as well.
Their QB is as good a player as we have seen all year, hands down

Going to be a good one-no question.

Also seeing another Wynford fan on here sure is a welcome site!

What happened nut, did you get booted from the other site? I ponied up 12 bucks just to listen at ya!

I could easily be wrong, but I just don't see NSP having a game within 25 points until they play DSJ. NSP should beat Wynford by at least 3 or 4 scores, and will beat whoever from R23 by the same or worse. They are that good.

If DSJ wasn't so amazing, I'd pick NSP for the D6 title right now, even over MSML.

Royalnut your daughter and the crew are mad at me because I will not be in attendance tonight. The lady Royals are mad because I am not heading to Pleasant for their preview either. I am taking the kids and their friends to see The Blind Side. The wife is in Louisville with a group of students and this weekend until 10:00 pm tomorrow is dedicated to FOOTBALL. I am so excited. Maybe I will watch a little cow tipping on Sunday afternoon but tonight is all about family bonding and FOOTBALL.

jmog I am not saying that your prediction can't happen but I am shocked that people make a call like that. I always am cracked up by seeing things like that from anyone that hasn't seen both teams play at least once but preferrably multiple times. I respect Royalnut because he has at least seen both teams play and maybe you have too... but I have not talked to one person that has seen both teams play that is even in that ball park. In fact the ones i have spoke to have been split in who they call the favorite and most have said it would be a push in their booking system. There is not doubt that St. Paul is the best team we have played but I honestly believe and have been told by more then a few with connections to the flyer faithful that we are the best they have played. I am afraid of one thing though... my gut for some reason tells me that if the score is a wide margin like you say it will be St. Paul in favor. I have no reason for that but it is just my gut feeling. I beleive the game is in fact a push. The team that executes, avoids injury, and doesn't turn the ball over wins. How do I know heck I don't but I am really excited about the opportunity.
