Hopefully he did that on purpose or he just further proved our point.

    Hey RoyalNut ......chill out!

No, sadly, I am not the Chamber president, and I hesitate to pick a winner! Just needed to respond to some untruths floating out there about the venue.

I know relatively nothing about either team, except for the fact that both are unbeaten. I have not seen either play, nor have I followed either team. I generally follow Division 2, because that is the Division in which Ashland plays. That does not mean that good ball is not played at the other Divisions, it just means that I do not follow it. I enjoy watching good football and am anticipating that the clash between the Royals and Flyers will be similiar to last week's clash between Orrville and Genoa, held at Ashland Community Stadium .... a classic between two very good teams with great traditions. So to me picking a winner would be like flipping a coin..... Okay you convinced me ..... the winner is Tails!

So my advice remains the same, so enjoy the ride. chill out, relax, come early, dine out, and cheer hard for your team. Here's wishing for a good hard fought and injury free game!

Oh Man I was just kidding you about the Camber President thing. I write things I think are funny sometimes that get taken the wrong way, for that I apologize. And it is cool you have pride in your school, their facilities and your town. And yes by the final score I bet that Orrville Genoa game was a dandy! There was some really bad blood over that game. There was a very rare comment before that game about Genoa "Not playing anybody" by the Orrville coach of all people. Then from what I read a controversial play on which Orrville scored. People after that game where not so happy, well some where not so happy. Enough about that.
The only place I know of in Ashland is BW3's. I am sure there are other places to have a good meal over there. Why not tell us about a few?

Here is something kinda funny, I see other have driven to the stadium and taken a look. Well me being Mr. El-cheapo. Google-earthed it. It looked nice on there! LOL

I think there's a Jax sports pub on the east side, and there used to be Linder's sports bar down town near, the hardware store. That place was really cool inside and had great wings. Is that still there?

Linder's Sports Pub has great food. Alot of St. Paul Flyer motif floating around the place. I know they have a NSP Helmet and Jersey in the upstairs lounge and I'm pretty sure that I saw THE DREAM TEAM picture their also.

Was Tom Linder ever the wrestling coach at Norwalk St. Paul or was it his brother? I know that Tom coached wrestling and Soccer (go figure) at Ashland U for awhile.

This would be a great place for Sportscaster17 to give us some Linder Lineage and where are they now updates.
  • wesflyer87
Yes Tom was the wrestling coach @ SP (mid 80's) & I believe he was the coach @ Ashland U for a bit. He's now the play by play announcer for Kent St. football & basketball & Rob Polinsky is the color analyst for football along side of Tom. Please correct me where I'm wrong 'cause my memory is....what we're we talking about?

SO RP is the official color analyst for Kent State football - good for him and I should have known that. What happened to Ty Linder doing color commentary. The press room must be stocked with some great food. LOL!!!!
  • wesflyer87
I think Ty is the sideline reporter. I've been listening to them on wnir.com this year. I think they make a great team.

    Should be a great game.

    I'll take NSP.

Thanks for the come back RoyalNut, no apologies necessary.

BWs just opened up this week after being closed for over a week for remodeling, they have added a ton of flat screens all over I am told. Linders is a sports bar, downtown Ashland, actually on the street parallel and south of the main drag through down town. Closer to the field is OBryans Pub located south of the AU campus on Claremont and within walking distance to the stadium. On the East side of town on East Main Street are a couple places: Jakes Steakhouse (with a bar), which is a Wooster based chain serving steaks, chops, burgers, etc. casual atmosphere; and Beer Goggles, a relatively new bar that serves decent food I am told. Both are on East Main Street with Jakes located 1/2 mile east of the 42 East Main interchange; and Beer Goggles the same distance to the west of the same interchange. There is an Applebees, located just off 42 on Claremont. Also further down on Claremont are Sorellas II, a very good Italian place; a Pizza Hut, Friendly's and East of Chicago closer to town and typical fast foods on Claremont (McD's, Burger King, Wendy's, Taco Bell, Arby's). Dowtown is a very good Chinese Place (Peking), and a Casa Fiesta on the east side of town (across from Beer Goggles). Other sit down Pizza places include Donatos, DorLos, and Besta Fasta. Also there's Belly Busters (take out BBQ), KFC, Bob Evans all on East Main. Local diners include Lyn Way (excellent pies), and Kelly's Deli (good food, cheap, but atmosphere is lacking). I am sure there are others, but off the top of my head I thought I give all a sample. Good luck and enjoy!

Wow Thanks for the great report! If you can't find some thing in that list that suits you. Your not hungry or thirsty!

You NSP fans should really get something to eat. Because this is going to be hard to watch on an empty stomach.

    I'm kidding! I'm Kidding!
  • RoyalNut
We gotta take #86 away from you on the deep ball. I'm not sure we have anyone that can run with him to be honest. Chris Brown has close to that kind of speed. But that kid can flat out fly. If I were the D coach I might put someone on that kid and try to jam him at the line a scrimmage. And if he gets free from that just pray we get pressure on your QB before that kid gets open.

The field will probably be the nicest field either team has played on this year. Field turf was installed a couple of years ago. The field is right next to the high school, and should be an easy drive for fans of both teams.

observer, the Flyers have played on field turf three times already this year. Tiffin, Huron and Medina last week. All three are very nice stadiums. So if Ashland is nicer then those then we should be alright. Not sure it will top Huron or Medina though. Those two facilities are top notch.

My apologies zaurus, it was very presumptuous of me.

Royal good luck trying to take Wilde out of the game. He is a play maker capable of breaking any play for 7. I am sure the royals like everyone else will kick away from him. Hopefully the royals will pay close attention to 86 that will open up 8, 44 and 23 to make some big plays.

    Goodluck Royals from PH country.

You know zaurus this is going to a heck of a game. Like I have said before I have seen you play. And I know Wilde,Tracht, Griffin and of course Schwieterman along with #7 Roberts and #14 Service are all more then capable of breaking a big one at any time.

But we have a lot a fire power as well The obvious guys are #3 Brause, #43 Eatmon and #21 Zach Niedermier. But either Chatlain #80 Adam or #10 Zach along with # 11 Temple or #81 Brown. All these kids are more then capable of making a big play as well.

There is a TON of offense in this game, the great play of either defense will probably win it.

The fact I watched you guys blank Mogador concerns me. But , and it is so hard to gauge from seeing only one game, but I think we are much better then Mogador. No offense to any Moggy people that see this. Or maybe Moggy was just flat that night. But, yep that game was a good old fashioned trip to the wood shed. And a very impressive performance by NSP I might add.

If I were a defensive coach I would instruct my players not to jam him at the line, but to keep him in front of you at all times, which of course leaves a short pass and run open, which is equally troubling.

I will take NSP in a high scoring shootout. I still believe it will be NSP vs. DSJ in the championship game.
  • Sonofanump
This game will provide both teams with by far the best foe they have faced all year until the finals.
