Orrville football 2015

Old RiderI told my brother just the other day that "I am about ready for a head coaching change!" He said "whats that gonna change?"...He is a firm believer that being in the OCC destroyed our program. It has ruined our middle school program. There are kids on this current varsity team that have only won 2 OCC games from 7th grade until now...TWO!!! I heard right from our AD and head coach's mouth that "we never should have got into a league with these schools". Start winning at the middle school level again and we will right the ship. The PAC is one step in the process!
-
Oldest Rider2The PAC move will help. It will take a few years though. I will say that I like where our kids are headed. At least we don't have Triway's defense. How are they giving up so many points like they are? We are improving it seems. Triway has done the opposite.

Bill Parcells said this during his hall of fame induction speech...I actually heard our AD use this at a parent meeting one year. Loved it! -

Oldest Rider,
Another bullseye of a post. To backup your statement about Massillon....I agree 100%. Same changes we've seen, they've seen too. Lots of factory jobs gone forever....a shift in the population with it. Nobody wants to live in Massillon. In 1985, they had 4900 kids in the district, now they're at 4000....a 20% drop. Their african-american population is half of what it was 30 years ago....and 2500 students of the 4000 they have now are considered "economically disadvantaged" by the state. That's 62.5%. Think those kids are coming out for football in large numbers? Think NOTHING has changed in Massillon also? Oh, they're 1-3 and have no talent that what they've been used to for decades. Kids are going to Perry, Jackson and even Tuslaw in droves over Titletown. -
An-Old-FanI'm laughing at the "poor us" comments connected to the declining enrollment and changing leagues is the answer but when the numbers for football decline it's a coach's fault and must be replaced.

Old Rider
Nobody is saying "poor us"?? Hundreds of schools in the entire state have declining enrollment numbers. As for your last comment...there is only one person on here saying the coach must go.An-Old-Fan;1752873 wrote:I'm laughing at the "poor us" comments connected to the declining enrollment and changing leagues is the answer but when the numbers for football decline it's a coach's fault and must be replaced. -
An-Old-FanMany "poor us" comments in reference to declining enrollment and declining wins because of it. Boasting about years past and the successful seasons which included larger rosters. And according to posts on this site there are a number of people calling for a coaching change.
THOSE are the ones I am laughing at. -
RedRider1Not to blatantly look ahead to 2016....but a change to our 2016 schedule has recently been noticed on the OHSAA website.
2016 football
Week 1 @ Wooster
Week 2 vs Norwayne
Week 3 @ Northwest
PAC schedule
Week 4 vs Tuslaw
Week 5 @ CVCA
Week 6 vs Indian Valley
Week 7 @ Manchester
Week 8 @ Fairless
Week 9 vs Tusky Valley
Week 10 @ Triway
Yes...the Bobcats are coming to town...supposedly in 2017 as well. Both games will be at home.
First regular season game vs the WCAL since 1981...also vs Norwayne.
For those (including myself) saying this needs to happen as half the WCAL schools are larger than us.....you get your wish.
Also notice that we only have 4 home games in 2016. -

RedRider1My wife and I were talking about what will happen in week 10 next year. Will we still do the bonfire/parade/school spirit week....for Triway week?
IMO...this is a perfect time to kill off the parade/bonfire. You're not going to do it in week 1 leading up to the Wooster game. Do a school spirit week for the kids for Wooster week and Triway week.
This also may be the last year of the Orr/Woo captain luncheon. There's already talk of making the one later this year a special one....since it may be the last. Logistically, with school starting the same week, the event will be harder to pull off.
If all of this happens, might as well look to replace Wooster in a few years. -

Definitely a different looking schedule for anyone who has followed Orrville for a number of years. If Wooster continues to dominate the rivalry between them and Orrville the way they have the past few years, will Orrville struggle in weeks 2 and 3 because of the physical aftermath of playing a dominant opponent in week 1? Most years, Orrville would make the playoffs at 6-4......surely at 7-3. There could be years in the PAC where they need 8 or 9 wins to advance to week 11. I would feel better about this schedule for next year if Triway wouldn't have beat us by such a wide margin in week 2 this year.........in Triway's only win of this season. The Norwayne game should draw a huge crowd and a ton of excitement.rrfan;1752899 wrote:Very Different looking schedule.... -

It's similar to the schedules of 7-8 years ago when we'd start with Northwest, Dover, Copley. Had to start 2-1 or we were up against the wall. -

Speaking of West Holmes...the game against them next week could be the last in a very long rivalry. It's around 90 games counting the games vs. Millersburg High School.
They already have 3 games against D-5 schools (Triway, Coshocton, Clear Fork) and they said they don't want another by continuing to play us. Can't say I blame them as they have to worry about making the D3 playoffs. -
Old Rider^^ Interesting that they (or us) wouldn't want to keep that rivalry going because that has always been a good game. Definitely a game we circled on the schedule each year. Hopefully we can work something out to keep it going...or reschedule in the near future.

A lot better than organizing a fake petition drive & witch hunt to remove the coach from his post. And you have the nerve to question what anyone else is doing? Yep kill off the bonfire and parade...would not want anyone thinking in Orrville that we actually support athletics and our kids. Can we cancel the season and we can all go watch the chess club next. I bet that would bring a huge gate. I am so tired of all the political correctness if one person gets offended. Guess what I am offended that people want to cancel all this stuff and tradition. Guess what I would burn that general in week one if it was my call.RedRider1;1752901 wrote:My wife and I were talking about what will happen in week 10 next year.
