    Absolutely disgusting and disturbing.

Seven. At least. Plus a coach...at who's house the party allegedly started. At any respectable program, any player who was anywhere near that house is off the team. At Big Red, they play...since "they haven't been charged." I don't know of any other program where you have to actually be charged with a crime to get the boot, but whatever.
Seven raped her? Or five witnessed while two raped her? Two raped her while five others knew something sexual was going on? Two raped her while five others watched? You claim to know.

I don't pretend to know because mostly I don't personally know anyone involved. And I'm not about to go snooping around to ask.

And I never implied "Boys will be boys", that's your interpretation of my comment. That's yours and yours alone.

Are you implying that ALL people from Steubenville are equal to your purported Seven? I hope not. There's 18,000 people that didn't participate in the 'event' that brings this thread here. So, in the scheme of things, they are a few fuck ups. Sorry, but that would be the truth. Anybody who would commit rape would have to have a few mental defects to even begin to think that's okay, let alone to go through with it. Are you arguing rape is a common thought of the common man? It's just the 'common man' hasn't acted on it?
In the comparison to Penn State, I was speaking more of the perps penchant for sodomy.

Although the CYA mentality of the town seems to be kicking in nicely...we'll see soon enough how far up the chain it goes I suppose.
I highly doubt the anal sex angle was the intent of the comparison. If it was, I'm sure a better crafted joke could've been made. But again, that sense of illiciting humor from the situation strongly implies to everyone that the RAPE is not a concern to you, this is just your opportunity to degrade a city you strongly dislike and feel a perverse joy while doing it.

This shouldn't be a situation to make light of. You don't see Big Red fans, or residents of Steubenville making jokes about what some sick fucks did at a party where felonies were committed in sick acts.

As for your CYA comment, do you really think someone from a city should take ownership of every act every person in that city perpetrates? Really? Do you think that's how blame gets handed out?

I'm sorry, but I'm not my brother's keeper.

And going back, despite all the rumor and innuendo being spewed about by you and your ilk, you still don't know the facts. I don't know the facts. But between the two of us, you're the only one pretending you do.

If there's more arrests, great, I hope guilty parties are held accountable for what they've done. If not, so be it.

This wasn't some run of the mill high school party gone awry. The school shouldn't just suspend everyone rumored to have been there, sullying their name with that of rapists. Those that witnessed the alleged acts should be gone off the team(s), but it would be a travesty to arbitrarily do so in a knee jerk reaction lest you want to brand some kids as rape-enablers when they did nothing more than hang out with friends while a crime was committed.

Stop using that twitter quote that doesn't belong on the HS forum.

Sounds like a lot of speculation as of right now. And speculation can bite you in the butt. Just ask Duke Lacrosse.

Apparently there's tons of cell phone pics and videos to prove it. I highly doubt its speculation anymore. Who knows though.

2 kids charged with felonies and being held awaiting trial? Im not a judge but it seems with the tweets and youtube vid's this is more than speculation.

Prayers for this young lady and her family

Your right... it belongs with Big Red.

Do I have this right? This all happened at a under age drinking party and these where the only Big Red players at the party?

It has no vulgar language in it...Kids hear worse on the freaking bus. Pretty egregious overreaction on your part, but whatever.

There was no over reaction on his part. Stuff like that has not been allowed on the HS forum since day one. Common sense would have told you it would have been unacceptable. What kids hear on the bus doesn't dictate what's acceptable and what's not. Smh.

The post broke none of the posted forum rules, AFAIK. Can you specify which one it broke? Also, I'm curious why the entire post was deleted and not just the image edited out.

It broke the "justin doesn't want that kind of stuff in this forum" rule.

I didn't delete the post, so I can't speak for him, but if it was me, it's not up to me to delete just a portion of the post.

I didn't want to butcher your post by removing the image and then any text referencing it, so it was easier to just remove it.

What some of you posters do not seem to realize is there were students from several schools at this so called party; Wintersville, Maddona, Big Red, Central etc. Also some who had already graduated. But, you would rather focus on Big Red because of 2 stupid individuals.
Also be cautious of who you accuse on these message boards. Ms. Hanlin pointed out that mis-information on message boards and picture websites could amount to a crime.
Moderators will probably have to be on their toes on this one.
    Cheers!

Probably because it was 2 kids from Steubenville that have been arrested and charged. If/when kids from the other schools get arrested and charged, we can talk about those students/other schools. Right now though, it's 2 students 1 school; DEAL WITH IT.

I'm laughing so hard at you people right now. It's the same schtick on every board. It's like you're all reading from some bad Lifetime movie script.

    "this so called party"
Am I missing something, was there underage consumption of alcohol and only 2 big red players at this party? An school officials are unaware of other players at this party?

Bad situation and it's getting handled just as bad. SAD

We have a winner. Solid post.

When HS football is the very last thing a dying city has to claim a single ounce of dignity from this kind of avoidance of the truth is common...and Steubenville has been wallowing in this type of filth for years.

A reliable source telling me Hanlin's son (who is good friends with individuals involved) was at this party. I now understand why this thing is and has turned into a real mess with everyone involved. Hanlin's husband is also a Steubenville policeman.

Until names do come out for sure, I think it's best if we keep any speculation on who the students are off limits.
  • ts1227
The names of the 2 charged has been in the news, so it's fair game.

Other than that, stick to what has been stated in the news, we're not dealing in secondhand info on this here.
