Coming from Campbell, go all the way out route 170 past Poland High School into New Middletown. Just keep going straight and you can't miss it. The school and stadium are on the left side.DevilPride2004;1244364 wrote:does anyone have directions to springfield not sure if i am going to make i am for sure going to make it to the niles scrimmage. -
soupcitysoldierNOT. IMPRESSED. Yes we won the scrimmage, yes they barely moved the ball on us, yes we ran the ball well. it costs you nothing to give 100 percent effort. it costs you nothing to show some intensity. it costs you nothing to give your all. we go through the motions. no intensity from ANYONE except four plays. youve had a whole offseason to sit on a bitter loss and that was the effort and intensity you showed the first time you get back on the field? not good. the varsity should watch the jayvees very closely. that team was fired up to be out there, hooting and hollaring, gang tackling, running hard, hitting hard. the varsity mustve thought they could get by on talent alone. today yes. against struthers no. nothing i am saying here has anything to do with the staff or game calling. this is simply an intensity problem i am seeing. the jayvees played how i expected to see the varsity play. with some hunger and anger. i was expecting to see us come out like we did last year against east and i was disappointed. good team but the best i see with the energy level where it was today is 6-4. Like one of the Lowellville kids said in front of me..."struthers is going to run through campbell, i thought campbell was better." that said it all for me.

Campbell not being physical enough is one of the negatives I came away with. Other than that Campbell didn't show much on offense, running out of basic pro sets. I am sure there is much more in the arsenal than what was demonstrated vs. Springfield. From what I was told Springfield is very young. I expected Campbell to handle them up front. Like soup said, there were only a couple of flashes of physical intensity. That has to change by next week. It definitely has to change for what lies ahead in week one and beyond. The sophomore class is loaded. And they proved that they are going to be a team to be reckoned with when they get their opportunities. Campbell did play without Sean Burnett who had his wisdom teeth extracted earlier this week. Niles McKinley should be a much better test than Springfield. That scrimmage is THURSDAY evening at 7. I got confirmation from one of our coaches.soupcitysoldier;1244737 wrote:NOT. IMPRESSED. reddevil90Figures... I don't get whats up with these kids today. I was told by a few that went that Campbell has it all. but there are problems that talent cant fix. They looked dead and at times showed they can dominate. My brother said he is worried that this team will think it got it already on talent. All i can think of is great another season where we will win a huge game and blow the ones we should win easily..

BigDean1I see very few easy games on the schedule this season. The first five are really tough, with three of those being on the road. Week one vs. Struthers will be a tough and physical game as usual. The outcome of that game alone may well set the tone for the remainder of the season. It isn't going to take very long to find out what this team is made of. The Niles McKinley scrimmage will be a good test.

oldschoolreddevThe lack of intensity from the starters is disappointing. I was pleased that we ran the ball well. Passing game didn't look too good due to some poor blocking on the right side of the OL. Defense was ok I guess. The one time we didn't blitz both ILBs, we force a pick.
I am eager to see what improvements we will see against Niles. -
OhioJefferson lost a lot from last seasons team which is good news, I see Struthers and Brookfield being tough early tests
-
soupcitysoldierYes Ohio. I see Struthers and Brookfield as losses. Lakeview leaning towards a loss and Labrae as a toss up. Im thinking 6-4 or best case 7-3. Just off what I saw yesterday. Maybe theyll impress me against niles who knows. I just found out they had two linemen out so thatll help. I just thought I saw more from Struthers in terms of intensity, and putting into account how much more they wanted it last year I think Campbell needs alot of waking up to do.

OhioNiles has potential to be good this season, lost some close games last season and beat canfield
-
soupcitysoldiershould be a great scrimmage to see what we really have

DevilPride2004I think you guys are being to hard on this team. It was only a scrimage it isn't.time for intensity get the fundamentals and show the intensity against struthers maybe we will see more against niles I dunno maybe I am wrong
