I'm not even sure this has even happened, hence the word "rumor".
You think it is ok for anyone to transfer to Massillon, but you think every private school is cheating. You complain that Moellar has kids from 3 states, but you make excuses when Massillon brings in kids from Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Indiana to workout. I am a public school guy, but I realize open enrollment public schools have every opportunity to bring in students as private schools. Actually the current rules for transfers favor the public schools since kids don't have to sit out if they transfer back to their district.

The Kempt situation, and the Ravenna kid situation, if true, would NOT be transfers. Why don't you understand that?

You want to compare this to your voucher situation?

They are transfers. Below is the ohsaa definition of transfer. If a student changes schools after 9th grade eligibility, he/she has transferred. http://www.ohsaa.org/eligibility/TransferBylawGuidance.htm

A voucher kid has the option of attneding a public or private school. How does that favor a private school?

Competative Balance Issue quote of the week.

Bob Goldring, OHSAA Associate Commish for Competative Ballance, on the possibility of adding a second DI Division.-

"This still doesn't solve the competative balance issue."

Check out exception 1, it should be easy for you....Hint, it's the first one.

I know that the transfers are eligible if you move them in. I never said that they weren't.

I LOVE how you worded that, "if you move them in". Why not do some more research and find all of the schools with transportation lists.

Let me know what you find.

Here is the Transportation Services Provided for Massillon City Schools. http://www.massillon.sparcc.org/Services.aspx My guess would be that most schools provide bus service. I would also guess that no football players (public or private) use the bus since they have practice after school.

skank;1069047 wrote:You and, "the boys", keep bringing up Massillon, this isn't a Massillon situation, it's bigger than that. Massillon has held their own considering the circumstances, don't worry about us. Of the 48 teams to have played in a state semi final since 2000, 18 of them have been in the top 32 in enrollment numbers, 19 were in the next 33-64. Only 11 teams have fell in the 65-119 area in terms of enrollment numbers. Massillon has done it 4 times, Perry once and Hoover once.
And 13 of the top 20 won't sniff the semis in this or any other lifetime. So what?

Maybe the committee can pr3event schools from having kids from bordering states participate in Ohio schools. Steubenville big Red has been doing this for years, getting West Virginia kids while they physically still live out of state. The parent (s) use a run down property in Ohio, claim it as their residence, and drive the kids across the state line. The OHSAA really need to investigate these and possibly take away decades of wins if they had illegal ineligible players.

Only from states that border Ohio? So then Moeller will not be getting kids from Indiana, Kentucky and West Virginia any more? On the bright side, they still have Texas. Wonder if the current coach has any rentals?

Also, this rule will not affect St. Ignatius' 8 county grasp they have on the Cleveland area parochials.

It's been over 30 years, broski. You're like a Chihuahua on a pant leg with this...and still looking pretty silly using it as the central pillar of your argument.

So then at this very moment, Moeller has ZERO kids on the roster from Indiana or Kentucky? Furthermore, the 8 county thing is VERY current. Nine counties if you include the Oregon kid....No wait, he lives "in an apartment near the HS." (temporarily)

If it were entirely my decision I would permit all and any kids to attend school wherever they choose and play football there too.

The OHSAA has adopted a similar stance. Hopefully soon they include public schools.

Massillon brings in kids from all over the place. Any open enrollment public school can.

Don't forget Oregon. Oh Wait. Massillion's qb is from there and that's ok

Zero. None. Nada....and it's been 30 years since there were. I'd stick with humping the "8 county" thing. At least that doesn't ding your credibility as much. ;)

They already do. 83% of the public schools have OE....65% have it statewide.

I would fully support a zero restriction and would suggest that only one division then make sense.

Hmm, thirty years since they had a kid on their roster from out of state huh? That's right around the time they won their last title right? I'd be more than willing to use your own argument against you, but I don't believe it for a minute. ;)

You're the one insinuating that they still do it. I'm just correcting you. (again) What you believe isn't really relevant.

Not to mention the fact that you constantly try to insinuate that it was a common practice. From 1980-82, there were a total of six players that appeared on a roster from NKY and IN...essentially Greater Cincinnati. That's it. It's amusing how you ignore the fact that they won 2 national titles in 75/76 with rosters where every single player was from their established feeder schools.

I must admit, you have impressed me. You are quite astute with your knowledge of every schools open enrolled, recruited, in state, out of state etc. players! Keep up the good work.
