This morning at 8:31, I was pinching my annual christmas loaf when a disembodied voice told me to stare into the bowl upon completion. Not being one to ignore disembodied voices, I did as instructed.

I was amazed to gaze upon a yule log that was the spitting image of coach Dennis from Rittman, only the eyes (being corn kernels) were slightly out of scale.
Anyway, as I was looking down at this anal artwork, the toilet flushed by itself.

These incredible occurrences lead me to make the following prediction-

Coach Dennis will be flushed from the annals of Rittman football within 365 days.

    sincerely,
    Resident prophet Red Rum

    It's a Christmas Miracle.

I can see the Daily Record Sports page read:

COACH DENNIS AND THE GREEN SCREEN WIN WCAL CROWN!

I agree with you 100% doghouse........

Red Rum is a classless troll and he should be banned from the OC.
The guy is scum and his dog is a murderer.
........and don't even get me started on his pal Miyagi, another classless menace destined for banishment

Prochecy by Poop has a very poor track record....

In 1996, I had a dingleberry that bore a striking resemblance to JoePa....and he coached 15 more years!

I agree! As you see, I think he leaves Rittman to take the Smithvile job....the guy controls his destiny and is a coveted coach!

The Office of the Commish issues the following statement:

    1. Red Rum is not a troll. He and his Asian contemporary bring a fresh and vibrant view to this otherwise too serious thread.

    2. Coach Dennis jokes will stop when his team wins four games in one season or he plays someone other than his kid at quarterback.

Exactly!!! demoralizer, it's time to "let it go"

I would like to thank the commissioners office for another fine ruling. Truth and justice have once again prevailed.
  • Mr. Russell
I agree with Demoralizer about Coach Dennis. He is a nice guy. While all of us can disagree with his coaching and personel decisions if we want, let's lay off a little bit. The point has been made. I know they didn't win many games last year, but I still don't think he had a ton of talent and they actually competed in some games where they should have been pounded.

This isnt an unreasonable assumption, after all...the last 2 Rittman HC's have landed in The Emerald city.....Bescancon and Teague.....make room on the ship for Dennis.
  • THE4RINGZ
    You quoted your own post.
  • 1_beast
INDEED! Getting my point across. Don't get high and mighty on me with your fancy, dancy Comish title.
  • O-Trap
Wasn't Baker also a Rittman coach?

    The precedent is set.
  • Old Rider
So....If Schrock does decide to retire after all of this and Bescancon moves on...Who would the Smithville fans like to see as the next coach? (lets leave Dennis out of the discussion).
  • OQB
Why all the love for coach Dennis all of a sudden?

When the guy actually turns a program around and makes the playoffs is when I will lay off.

    Pfft! Lay off? C'mon Man!:p

I would seriously be concerned if I was a Smithie faithful.....

I would hope that Smithville and Wooster would hire someone who has a teaching certificate and would be in the building all day!
With that said, will there be teaching openings for the next school year at Smithville?

Not anyone within the current staff, if Besancon dosen't get the HC job.
  • 1486wd
if they don't want besancon, I would assume they would send some feelers out for Thut and try and lure him back home - but i think no matter what, they will open it up and see who's interested.

It has been my experience that teachers don't necessarily make better coaches. I'd hate to see an inferior coach chosen because of his day job, whether or not it's spent in the same building with the players.

I never said anything about an inferior coach. It just means the hiring committee needs to do a good job of sourcing candidates and not take the easy way out! If they have a teaching position I would prefer they go out and find the best coach that they can to fill that opening. Call me old school but there is a lot of merit in having a certified educator that is in the building as the head coach. It builds better rapport with student’s staff and administrators. They can also take care of issues that pop up and keep them from getting out of control!
  • Red Rum
On the Dennis issue, I'm with OQB,
I really don't care if he is a nice guy. I don't care if he helps old ladies across the street. I want to see the Rittman football program back on its feet and I don't think Dennis has anything to offer.

I must have missed the memo where the posters on this thread became a bunch of politically correct sissies. Since when did anyone get a pass for being a nice guy?

When the Smithville story comes out, what happens if the judas who took out Schrocks knees is a nice person? Will they get a pass? Mr. Russell.

Norwayne won the state title and demoralizer gave no quarter.

I'll gladly apologize for everything I said about Dennis when he shows even the faintest spark of head coaching ability. Until then, he's open game. Nice guy or not.
  • THE4RINGZ
The world is full of nice guys, it isn't filled with good football coaches.

You can find both, and that is why it is important to put a good group of people together to find the right person for the job! A cross section of the community is ideal! This is what is needed for the administration to save face! Get local people involved and give them some ownership in this decision.

Not an expert on Dennis or central Ohio but according to my buddy who coached against him in the OCC, the answer to your statement is Chillicothe. Turned their program around and got the school's first playoff win ever. So I guess you'll be quiet now right? Yeah right.
You bash the hell out of the guy and he's been here a whole 10 games. Give the guy a chance (especially considering what he inherited).
BTW, no way he goes to Smithieland. Just a few goofs on here putting 2+2 together and getting 5.

doghouse has me pegged, I'm a classless goof:laugh:

that maybe true, but hiring a guy who is 31-59 since 2002 isn't my idea of rebuilding the program.

I don't hear many great things about his tenure at West Holmes (2002-2005) 13-27. Just ask the Knights fans.

and London cut his teaching job (a good way to get rid of a coach) after 5 years (2006-2010) 18-32

Last year, he installed a system the team had no talent for and put his kid at QB. Was this in the best interest of the team? or did he have a personal agenda?

Either way, you have to wonder, is winning even a goal? because he has fallen short in that department in 2 other places.

Look, he may be a great guy and have some coaching ability. I just doubt it's head coaching ability.

Guys like Maltarich, Thut & Edwards have what it takes to be head coach. Dennis doesn't.

Rittman was stunned when Besancon bolted and hired a sub .500 journeyman coach as a safe play. They need to find a young assistant upstart out to prove himself.

    just my opinion.

    Any other thoughts?
