Old RiderE. Larry Acker...embezzled money from the OHSAA and now will pay it forward!
-
1_beastThe "donor" is Dwight Schar. He flew in for the Championship Game....was all excited and jacked up. He asked if their was anything he could do to help Norwayne out in anyway to keep this momentum going.....at which point he was informed about the tile and drainage issues at Crestviginia Stadium, and Norwayne being forced to "HOST" a 1st round game at a diffrerent venue and offered a deal.
If Norwayne can take care of the drainage/tile issues......they will get the artificial turf....He will donate the funds for field and stadium improvements. He is offering to put up funds...but he wants Norwayne to work for it and get the site prepared for the renovations.....
THAT my friends is the story Beast got from a VERY reliable source....Bobcat MOM!!! -

THE4RINGZWe need the offical answer on this, can someone get ahold of Paul?
-
Old RiderI called Mr. Schar and he said it is a "no-go"!
He said his decision is based on the facts presented by 'Old Rider' that proves Mr. Acker embezzled money from the OHSAA to fund this project.
Mr. Schar is now giving all of his money to Orrville for turf -

5knotsWith the deep pockets their certain alum has I would never say that it was a no go....that being said, I like High School football to be on grass. May not be a popular opinion among my Red Rider friends, but I think the injuries would mount up, and for small schools that is a hurdle that is hard to overcome season in and season out. It looks pretty for sure and their seems to be a wave of support across the state to acquire it for most schools, but I have reservations about it. It is fine to schedule playoff games late in the fall on it due to deteriorating field conditions, but for an entire season I think it would take it's toll on a teens body. I for one am glad my kids played on grass for the majority of their careers. It is always nice to have the occasional game or two or three and I must say I enjoyed watching the game on turf, but I would rather see a darn nice grass field like Lexington over field turf any day.

FairwoodKingA natural grass field is not practical for a school like Steubenville. We not only play the varsity games in the stadium, but also reserve, freshman, eighth, and seventh grade games. Plus we play soccer on that field. I think our turf is universally liked, especially since our new turf has end zones that are black with red letters.

5knotsNothing can top Stuby stadium.....keep it just like is....except for the soccer lines!

Correct. Eliminate the soccer lines and throw down a lacrosse field there, and you will benefit greatly. -
