Maybe the congratulations was in reference to the recent arrival of the Noah Rothlisweaver family from Pennsylvania. They are settling in at a quant little farm on Salt Creek Rd in Mt Eaton.
Noah Jr. runs a 4.27 forty, threw 54 touchdowns passes and led the Lancaster Quakers to the Amish Super Bowl Championship.

Protocol dictates the poster with the highest degree of education goes first. Here's the order-
    1. Posters with Dr. in their screen name.
    2. Bobcat mom
    3-155. almost everyone else

Thank you for your approval Red Rum. I will start it off:
    1. Norwayne- How can you pick against the state champs? Can they fill the void left by the reigning MVP?
    2. Smithville- Despite any shortcomings in the process, it looks like the Smithie bosses hired the best candidate for the job.
    3. Hillsdale- Graduation will prove to be a test. Can they reload instead of rebuild?
    4. Northwestern- Returning many key players with minimal loss. A healthy QB in Noletti will benefit the squad immensely.
    5. Dalton- The young pups will grow up and experience will only benefit them.
    6. Waynedale- Can they ride the wrestling title into football season?
    7. Chippewa- I believe Wolfe is on the right track. Would definitely like to see him begin to turn the ship around.
    8. Rittman- The screen game can only be so effective. They need to find one-cut runner to offset the passing game.

What are all of your thoughts?

Yes, but here he will have to where shoes and not have cowpies on the field to squish his toes in. ( except maybe beast will bring some cows in on zursday nights to ready the field for Bears home games)

    *wear

Bears obviously lost alot to graduation. Just hope to notch a win over Rittucky and be competitive....:p;)

edit: on a side note...Orrville should be worried....kids want to play for Champions....you might lose some kids to Norwayne or Waynedale!

You don't need my approval Doc.
I, however should be seeking Bobcat moms approval to go next.

anyway, here's my 170 or so days till kickoff take-

    1. Northwestern--Homer call. All homers pick their teams to win it all in March.
    2. Hillsdale--Program has reached maturity. Lots of hungry, well coached players.
    3. Dalton--They kept improving last year and that will continue.
    4. Norwayne--Life without Wallace is going to be MUCH more difficult than cat fans realize.
    5. Waynedale--Fan base is divided, uniforms are ugly, Beast is from there.
    6. Smithville--Bad Karma. Don't mess with it. As Ringz so eloquently stated "it's a female dog"
    7. Chippewa--They'll take back the Big Chief in 2012.
    8. Rittman--In spite of having talent, poor coaching will assure their fate.

Here are my lead pipe lock picks for the final standings after the 2012 season. Even though my greatest academic achievement was to have been blessed with a last name similar alphabetically to the smartest kid in my grade who didn't care if I borrowed an answer from time to time, I will go third.

    1. Northwestern. See Red Rum's predicition and +1 me.
    2. Dalton. They find a way to get back on track, those kids over there are just a different breed and losing isn't in their vocabulary.
    3. Hillsdale. The cream rises to the top and this program is still pee'd off about how last year ended for them. Spite will drive them to win.
    4. Norwayne. Too many distractions in the offseason, too high of expectations for this year's team leads to a disappointing season on turf.
    5. Smithville. New coach, new program, give them a year or so to understand the forward pass and they will be in the thick of things.
    6. Waynedale. Good QB, lots of questions at other positions, and I want to see them go 4-6 just to watch beast's posts about the staff. Pure Gold.
    7. Chippewa. Coach proves the contract extension was a good move, these kids step up and play hard for him.
    8. Rittman. Coach proves contract was a bad move, and madman and the demoralizer become Smithville fans after running out of paper bags to cover their heads.

Now for the newly formed WCAAL here are my predictions....

    1. Wooster. Haas in the house, 'nuff said.
    2. Northwestern. Don't hate the Homer.
    3. Orrville. If they don't finish at least third all the riders fans will fling themselves off that painted bridge as you come into town and there will be a world wide jelly shortage.
    4. Everyone else. If you ain't in the top three, you don't matter.

The best is when in August those Amish who haven't worn shoes the past three months will walk around the auction grounds. Delightful:cool:
  • So You Know
    So You Know,

If Smithville doesn't compete for a league championship this year and make the playoffs, the players and parents will most definitely be very angry. There should be no adjustment period. You have a coach who was in the system, with head coaching experience and familiarity with the league and non-league opponents. Also, the opportunity is there to retain quality assistant coaches that are also familiar with the players and league. Smithville's senior class won the league in 7th and 8th grade (one of the years tying with Norwayne) and had many contributors at skilled positions on last year's WCAL Title team, including an all-ohioan and other all league performers that will be 3rd and 4th year starters this season. Norwayne will most likely get the hype during the preseason, but with the skilled athletes that Smithville has returning, as well as the experience, they expect to win. After this year, it could be a while before they contend for the league again.

    What talent is that? :)

Every school has talent. Especially in these local areas, many adults grew up in the area and have stayed here. Thus, there is talent in every community. Some schools just have trouble getting those athletes on the field/court, and others just don't know how to use their athletes most effectively.

    Just a couple Dalton Notes.

    - Dalton will have 6 home games this year (Tuslaw, Timken, Northwestern, Norwayne, Waynedale, Smithville)
    - Dalton is getting a new helmet (down to a couple choices)
    - Dalton is also planning on getting new black unis (also down to a couple choices)
  • 1486wd
cool - i loved the all black look they sported in the early 90s
  • 1_beast
Hated the all Black in 88....we were 6-0 and the Bulldogs came to town to play an emotional game, Bears lost...and lost with grace. Bulldogs lost a student that week. That was a needed win the Dalton Community.

    I still didn't like it.

I think the WCAL will come down to a battle between Norwayne and Northwestern this year. Norwayne has a ton coming back and Northwesterns Sophmore class is very good. The loss of Wallace will definitely be felt but the talent pool is deep and the Cats should be able to adjust. I think they will hurt a little more on the defensive side of the ball but should still be able to score a bunch. With a healthy Noletti, Northwestern is going to be a load. He was really coming on after healing from his inhury last year and is blessed with alot of talent around him.

Dalton will definitely improve as they were very young last year but I still dont think they will have enough to contend for a championship. They did, however, do it in bball and nobody gave them a chance there.

I look for Smithville to be pretty good but they did lose a ton of talent. Both of the workhorse running backs, Tom Hilty and 2 of the top 5 linemen in the league for starters. My big question is what do they do at QB? Bates is a talented athlete but when people are keying on him, how will he hold up? Will the move him to try to utilize him more? It will be interesting to see what coach B comes up with.

Waynedale is a mystery to me and probably will remain that way since we know Beast will never give us any valuable information

I know Hillsdale is losing a ton but we'll see how Coach fills in the gaps. This is very intriguing to me. I ahve a lot of respect for Coach Williams and what he's done at Hillsdale. They'll be in the mix

    Rittman and Chippewa..............nuff said
