New Competitive Balance Proposal

Summa;1007512 wrote:And you skank (very fitting screen name btw) are a Massillon supporter and have zero credibility on this issue since Massillon is statewide open enrollment, has had too many big time starters from outside of Massillon on their teams over the years for me to even count, and has been in trouble with the OHSAA for recruiting in the past. Also, the school that built a big time college indoor football facility for what purpose, the purpose of recruiting, I mean, "attracting" outside of the district kids to come play football for Massillon. Massillon schools better seriously start to worry a lot more about academics than their football team. Out of 20 high schools in the Canton area (Stark County) that play football, Massillon ranked a lowly 17th on the 2010 OGT barely ahead of McKinley and Alliance with Timken bringing up the rear. While about 90% of those "cheating" private schools ranked from the top 1% to the top 25% on the OGT in 2010. They must be recruiting smart athletes.
Actually, its even bigger than pro football team practice facilities.

And do you know the purpose? Or are you assuming?

Renting their own homes to out of state athletes.

#2- If we do get, as you say. "tons of stud football players from outside of Massillon for years upon years",wouldnt we be playing for a championship or at least the region, every year?
    1. Because they think it is ticket to a BCS scholarship. Massillon is in the dumper academically, that is not a real secret.

    2. The private schools you accuse of getting studs from outside of their area are not playing in the state championship every year either. I.e. Massillon has had many more BCS DI recruits than Iggy over the last ten years. Iggy has great coach and smarter kids.

That was a dumb move by Faust. He should have just gotten a "booster" to give the kid money for an apartment instead.

I didnt accuse anyone, of anything, ask anyone in this thread!!!! I never have. Ask sherm. I could give a ratsass about the pub vs priv thing. I wish Massillon would play the Iggy's, St. Ed Mooney, Ursuline whoever's every year.

I was just asking a question.

Nope, that would be Massillon once again. Throw in giving the kids daddies nice jobs along with a house.

Name the DI recruits, because I would challenge you on the fact that Massillon has had more.

I wonder what became of the family that Gerry 'the evictor' Faust booted out on their cans?

You know how I know, you are just jealous of and hate Massillon? Look at highlighted words ^^^^^^

You contradict yourself. We have so many BCS DI recruits, yet we are dumber than a box of rocks? Big time DI schools, dont take kids that are dumb

    I.E. see Erick Howard.

That simply is a false statement. The academic requirements for athletes are less than non-athletes at the big time schools.

This is where you are completely off base.

I cannot speak for anyone else, but I would have absolutely no problem with a multiplier being put in place. However, if we are out for "fairness," that multiplier needs to affect open enrollment schools the same way it affects private schools. Which is why I've proposed a number of times what I feel to be a "fair" solution in distinguishing feeder schools for each high school and counting kids from outside of those schools as 2 or 1.5 and those from the feeder schools as 1.

But you only choose what you want to read. And you ignore stuff like that. And you instead just keep posting rumors about Faust and this family that he evicted to rent out a house to some football player. Keep on preaching skank. It is pretty damn entertaining.

I think your idea has a flaw because not all open enrollment areas should be treated the same. Ft Recovery and all of its feeder schools are very different than a school located in Columbus even though both may be "statewide open enrollment" The same is true for a private school located in a rural area. That's why I suggested using the census to define urban areas.

The point of my idea is if there is an open enrollment school that has a lot of kids that come in from out of the area, it should affect their total. If there is a small private school in a rural area, they are probably only getting kids from the private feeder grade school. It would actually benefit those schools because they would not be penalized just because they fall into either the open enrollment or private classification. My whole gripe is that I don't think schools should be penalized JUST because they are private, or JUST because they are open enrollment. What matters to me is where your students are coming from. If you are only getting kids from your feeder school(s), you should not be forced to move up at all. But if you are an open enrollment school and you have a lot of kids coming from outside your school district, that should not count any less than a private school.

I do think though there would be some issues with feeder schools that are "on the border." For example, in Youngstown, St. Christine 8th graders usually split up between Mooney, Ursuline, and Canfield. It would be tough to designate that school as a specific high schools feeder school.

To the people on here that want to turn this into a pissing match about Massillon or any of the privates take it somewhere else please. I was hoping to discuss how the system could be fixed.

I really don't see any way to make changes at the D-1 level other than creating an smaller open division and let everyone "recruit" the best students they can get, a sort of Katie bar the door approach. Any school with 700 plus students should be able to overcome any obstetricals placed in front of them. They say that everything from the college level comes down to the high school level. As you can see with all of the issues the NCAA has had with "additional benefits", sport agents, and down right payoffs, there is no way in hell to control boosters or friends of the program.
