Fun topics like... talking tailgate logistics!! (again)

Who is in for a tailgate this Saturday? Game is at 3:00pm. I could be there by noon or earlier, depending on when others will want to show up. We already have plenty of food, so nothing extra is needed, there. We're also set on condiments, napkins, plates, etc. The only thing would be drinks, but again, I should be set with Pepsi, Lemonade, and water given that not much was drank this past Saturday.

I am going to all three games Saturday. This is my first time at the finals but I have heard that there is not much time between games.

Rooting for Norwayne, but in reality Kenton should win by 3 scores. This should have been a game for Kenton and Hartley, but the OHSAA confusingly decided to put Hartley in a region with schools from Toledo???

    GoFalcs....

If you've never done the finals thing before, it will be a memorable experience and you should have a blast.....my only warning is, beware of the shrinking wallet. It won't be a cheap day.

Gotta work through this weekend, but next year we should all congregate at BW3 and watch the finals on TV.

It's still 6 days off but the current long range forcast calls for 39 and sunny next Saturday. Doesn't sound like weather should be a factor.

You will have a blast! Just take a blanket to sit on. I'll never forget the weekend I didn't have a blanket and the seats still had ice on them. Talk about a numb rear end by halftime!

With State Championship tickets being reserved, we should have plenty of time to tailgate if you still want to stop by. I've never appreciated my GPS more than when driving between Paul Brown and Fawcett... taking back roads to avoid the complete congestion... re-calculating, re-calculating, re-calculating while I pass hundreds of cars on the back roads. Haha. I would recommend it.

Going to multiple games in a 2 day period is definately fun. My dad and I have done if for the past 10 years. Great memories, and what I love about it is when I'm watching a college or pro game I can say, oh yeah...I saw that kid in high school play. Go Falcons, once you start doing this you will want to do it every year. It will be even more fun since a local team is in it.

J-ville to Canton Fawcett Stadium to Massillon Paul Brown Stadium to Canton Fawcett Stadium back to Jville makes for a long day...why don't they have all 3 games at the same place ?
  • oldsmithie
It would be impossible to have all 3 games in one stadium, traffic would be a nightmare. After each game, there is a trophy presentation and stands don't clear as quickly as you would think. I have been to the play off weekend several times and it is great fun. Traveling between sites can be tricky if you don't know the side streets.

When they first had the games in Stark county they had games at the same stadium , but ran into overtime games and there is not enough room to park crowds coming for the next game when the lots are still full from the earlier games and crowds at the gates waiting to get in.

Norwayne has Johnnie support all the way, go out and show Kenton they can be stopped.

Thanks JHS! We wouldn't mind borrowing Franklin for just one game...

This may be Norwayne's first year at state, but I guarantee that they will be good again next year. The next QB has a phenomenal arm as well, and has runaway with JV games as a sophomore.

Show the"all mighty" team can be stopped

Easier said than done. This Kenton team is awesome. Everyone thinks they have the answer, and they never get it done. 48 minutes is a LONG time for an offense like Kenton... Norwayne has the tools to beat Kenton, but actually beating them is a different story. But I hope the Norwayne D can STEP up and their O can KEEP up!

    Good luck Bobcats!

Keep in mind... Kenton will not be the best team these kids have played against. Most the kids on this year's Norwayne team were also key factors on last year's team that played Ursuline. They won't be intimidated.

I see Calpreps has this game predicted as the following:
Norwayne (Creston, OH) vs. Kenton (OH) at Washington (Massillon, OH), 3:00pm [projection: Kenton (OH) 41-28]

I think 13 points is probably a pretty accurate prediction, based on both teams' successes this year. Kenton the obvious favorite (so double-digits does not surprise me), but Norwayne has proven they're a very good team, too, so less than a 2 TD spread sounds about right. For now. Hopefully the Bobcats can shock the world! Drew Pasteur (Fantastic50.net) has a higher pick percentage this year, and has done well with spreads, so I'm interested to see what his formula predicts later this week.

i still think if norwayne was in any other region or even d5 they would not be in the state game. I personally think their playoff schedule was not as tough as most other D4 teams besides girard, no effense to orrville folks. I would like to see norwayne play bucyrus wynford round 1 like smithville did!

Well, after watching about an hour of Maty Mauk videos and watching Kenton's team in general, I have to say that this team is at another level then the Bobcats. This team looks as good if not better then the Ursuline team that the Bobcats played last year. Mauk is just great, peroid. I'm still not convinced watching video that Kenton will stop Norwaynes offense but they will slow it down. I just don't see Norwaynes Defense stopping Mauk at all. Maybe we will see an upset, maybe not but I know that Norwayne will never quit weather down 1 or down 40. All I can say is Norwayne has a shot at the title no matter what happens and us Norwayne folks couldn't be prouder no matter what happens.

Wynford was not that good of a team this year. Orrville would have hung 40 on them.

no way..bucyrus made it to the 3rd round! and handled a real tough smithville team pretty easily. Bucyrus would beat orrville IMO

Some things after reading the thread:
    1. I believe Jon Zimmerly is a junior and will be one of the best players in the area next year.
    2. Wynford would have beat any team in the area this year and Orrville was not hanging 40 on anybody, their offense was below average and I am sure many Orrville fans would admit that. Their defense won them games this season.
    3. If Adam is told to spy Maty Mauk, he will spy him and he will do a good job doing so. He is just that special of a kid and plays with a high motor. I am not saying he is the best quarterback in our area's or league's history because I don't think he is, but there are very few all-around football players better than Adam. You may never again see a kid play QB and MLB at the level that he has this season.
    4. I really do not know who will win this game. But my thoughts are that if Hillsdale could successfully throw the ball on Norwayne, Kenton will be able to.

Norwayne is a huge underdog Saturday, personally I'm surprised it's only 13 points. Kenton is very good and probably more importantly, they are good at changing their plan on the fly. Against Hartley, their passing game was being neutralized so they flipped the switch and Mauk turned into a bruising runner, something I wasn't sure he was capable of....but he was.
Kentons defense was also pretty strong against the vaunted Hartley rushing attack.

All that being said, Norwayne has nothing to lose and most think they have no chance. That can work in the Bobcats favor as they have alot of weapons and are difficult to prepare for, not to mention they have been worldbeaters on turf in these playoff games. It would be great to see the Cats win it all.

    best of luck to Norwayne
