Division IV State Championship: Creston Norwayne def. Kenton, 48-42

I see. So if Norwayne is lucky enough to keep this game close or Heaven forbid win it, it won't because they played well or are a good team. It will because Kenton screwed up and didn't play well.Double Snow Man;996320 wrote:I just don't see Norwayne slowing Kenton down. The only way Kenton will be slowed down is by themselves. -
RedRider1Norwayne better just pack it in....how do you stop the "Ace Hardware Player of the Game?"
-
TigerplantLol...yea that was pretty funny. There are a bunch of Kenton fans that just don't really see the other teams in the state. Once they hear that it's a running team they say we have this in the bag. What I think makes this game interesting is the fact that Norwaye can score and they can be balanced if they choose to. Kenton's defense has always been under fire but I must say that against Massie they shut them down. Do I think Norwayne has a chance....heck yes I do! Kenton can be beat for sure! However just like I've said earlier....they will be well prepared. They may stumble a little bit in the first half defensivly but they will batton down the hatches in the second half! Kenton has won games in the playoffs only having the ball for 12 minutes of the entire game and then last week on their first possesion first play they scored in 4 seconds. I'm sure Norwayne has this same fire power but I think Kenton's style of play is one they have never seen and will tire out in the second half.

Yes, they will need to play well and I never said they weren't a good team. In fact, I think they are a good team and have a style of offense that could give Kenton more trouble than a power running team. I would have much rather seen Kenton matched up against Johnstown Monroe in the final. Both Elida and Coldwater are similar to the Norwayne offense, from what I have seen and read, and they gave Kenton more trouble during the regular WBL season than the other teams Kenton played.thePITman;996388 wrote:I see. I don't think Norwayne will be able to shut down the screen and short passing game, the long ball, and the Mauk runs with one week to prepare and not having played a team like Kenton before. One of the aspects of this years Kenton team that has impressed me the most is their ability to adapt to what the defense is giving them. They have also done a nice job of adjusting defensively at half time as well. But to directly answer your question: Yes, Norwayne could win, but I don't think it will happen unlesss Kenton screws up on offense or if Mauk is not very healthy. -
O-TrapHas Kenton had a RB at any point this year? Do they ever run with anyone but Mauk? I'm merely curious.

With the exception of end of the game clocking running once the game has been decided, no.O-Trap;996481 wrote:Has Kenton had a RB at any point this year? Do they ever run with anyone but Mauk? I'm merely curious. -

Gotcha. Thanks!Double Snow Man;996494 wrote:With the exception of end of the game clocking running once the game has been decided, no. -
THE4RINGZNo running back! Can you even fathom that Mr. Smithville?
-
O-TrapSure. I've seen 5-wide. Smithville has never had the personnel for it, but if they did, I'm betting they'd use it.
After all, they did implement a shotgun and spread back in the early 2000s.
I just haven't seen most of their games, and I didn't know if there was more than one running threat to keep track of in the backfield. -
catfanI would like to thank the football team, coaches and fans from the Orrville Red Riders for the very nice ad they placed congratulating the Cats in the daily record today. That is a very classy move and very much appreciated. The support that we've had from the surrounding communities has been nothing short of awesome. Thank you once again.
GO BOBCATS! -

My senior year at Orrville I played on the Runner-up football team and a state champion basketball team and I also remember the support we received from the neighboring schools. We had signs in our hallways that were made by cheerleaders of other schools.catfan;996511 wrote:I would like to thank the football team, coaches and fans from the Orrville Red Riders for the very nice ad they placed congratulating the Cats in the daily record today. Pitman-
You should have left out the "sit with Ringz, Go Falcons, O-Trap, and me" part.
The value of your tickets just plummeted -

Go FalconsI just received a call from the Hillsdale Superintendent. Norwayne called Hillsdale to tell us that they (Norwayne) had called OHSAA about the Bell. They were told that the Bell is not allowed Saturday.
I don't know why Norwayne officials called OHSAA. I would assume someone complained and they wanted to check. So sorry Bobcat fans but there will be no Bell. I will still be there cheering them on though. -
Mr. Russell
We actually ran the 5-wide, empty backfield my senior year at Smithville! Fun time, but I don't think we had the preparation to do so. Just threw it in one week!O-Trap;996508 wrote:Sure. I've seen 5-wide. Smithville has never had the personnel for it, but if they did, I'm betting they'd use it. -

Bring it anyhow. How is it any different than a cowbell??? Sit in the endzone with it and ring that bell. They can't penalize anyone and the worst they can do is ask you to take it out of the stadium.Go Falcons;996614 wrote:I just received a call from the Hillsdale Superintendent. And how many games did you win those years you were the QB and Schrock "thought" he was all of a sudden a passing team cause you came from Orrville???Mr. Russell;996638 wrote:We actually ran the 5-wide, empty backfield my senior year at Smithville! Bloody ToothbrushThank god I'm here.....
First...Pitman, You're in a jam with those tickets. Ain't nobody payin' to sit with the uncultured hooligans you mentioned above.
Second....GoFalcs, take the bell and memorize this advice...
"Never ask permission from a bloated bureaucracy, they will always tell you no."
Now,
Problem solving time...
Pitman...
1. tell everyone you've hired a top shelf stripper to attend the game with you guys
2. lap dances are complimentary with the tickets
3. The new price is $100 bucks a piece.
4. use some of the $300 bucks to buy yourself a ticket on the other side of the stadium.
5. Count your profit and let Ringz, GoFalcs & O-Trap deal with the guys you screwed over.
GoFalcs...
Take the bell, you may need it for defensive purposes if Pitman implements my plan.
Good Luck Norwayne!!!!! -
1_beastIf you would have asked the State if you were allowed to bring the Bell to play-off games, they would have said no! If is not a mechanical device...it is no different than a cowbell or clappers...I do not see them (Massillon folks) saying NO unless they have been pre warned to decline.
I do not know WHY Acker would call the State....Clearly, the Norwayne fans LOVED the Bell...each time you rang it....(3rd down) the WHOLE crowd jumped to there feet....not that they wouldnt have anyhow...but it clearly was enjoyed and appreciated by MANY......They wanted it rang MORE.
Heck a Norwayne FAN came and "borrowed" the bell the 1st half....lol he just couldnt get the bell to toll as the experienced Go Falcs does!!!!
I just wonder if Acker was mad that it was a "Hillsdale" bell......stealing the glory...Instead of appreciating the outside support....cant for the life of me figure out why he would be concerned about a fan from a league school bringing a bell to support HIS team? Does he not have a busy enough schedule??? -
Old Rider^^^Because Mr. Larry Acker is the secretary of the Northeast Athletic Board (OHSAA) and he certainly doesn't want to step on any toes or make a member school upset or upset the OHSAA because "HIS" school brought some bell!
-
Old RiderGoFalcons....therefore, bring the Bell and ring it loud. He can't stop you from bringing it in!!
-
thePITmanSchool bands are NEVER penalized for playing while the ball is in play, and their instruments are just as loud, if not louder, than the bell in question. And this bell is not being rung while the ball is in play. I don't understand the problem. Like others said, it's just a big cowbell.
