The 1998 team was 13-1 with the loss coming to Ashland. That was a year or two before they expanded to 15 weeks.

What really did Orrville High School do for him? Allow him to be a student at a public high school? Allow him to participate in athletics?

    It's not 2012, yet!

Orrville Football 2012 has yet to begin.

However, there are the psychic predictors! LOL!

Santa , all i want for christmas is Norwaynes coaching staff. With the talent we usually have what could we do with that staff ? not to mention that offensive system. Ok wishfull thinking, i will settle for an offensive coordinator.

Grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. Norwayne had a very complete team this year. We had some missing pieces that limited us and injuries that limited us even more at times. Very easy 81 to come to a game now and then and think you have it all figured out....a lot more goes into it than that. I like our guys for many reasons other than x's and o's. They do a great job with these kids as far as molding them into young men. Good balance between working hard, playing hard, and giving back time again to a community that supports them.

eg. last night at the football banquet Coach D talked about how this senior class was involved in more than 160 or 180? can't remember the exact number...service projects with our community. How many did you and I do when we were in High School? Mason has had more than 25 and some kids probably more than that. Those are life skills forever and no matter what community these fellas end up in I hope it carries forward with them.

Sorry to drag up the HOF thing again, but Mr. Denson is on record as saying he'd turn down a nomination. So, if going in, we know that he doesn't want to accept, why should I throw away a vote that could go to someone deserving.

I'll go to bat for him for what he did on the field and courts for OHS...but he does need to do some serious maturing. Most of us take pride in what we've become, not what we've been nearly 20 years ago.

His comments about current OHS athletics being "cursed" because he's not in the HOF showed his selfishness and ignorance....and is just plain dumb.

My hope is both he and Renauld get nominated next time. Then the ball is in their court. Can't say you've been slighted anymore, they accept or never get voted in again.

The damage has already been done hasn't it! It's a rather easy "out" to nominate either of them at this point, especially if one or both of them have said that they won't accept it. Was it "selfishness and Ignorance" that kept them from recieving the votes?

Seems to me it's a tongue-in-cheek gesture to say you tried to do the right thing after the fact and can now absolve yourself and the committee and lay blame at their feet as to whether or not they are to be voted in.

Understandably, Coach Smith's time at Orrville was much longer than Ray or Denson as he was the coach and they were students, (they can only do 4 years), but the back-to-back wins that are crowning achievements of Coach Smith's career were accomplished by far as a result of their skills and abilities. That, and the fact that you all are constantly bally-hooing and hoorahing Orrville's records and RTR, I say again, it's a shame that they weren't nominated and inducted at their earliest eligibility just as I'm sure Coach Smith has been.

Also, what was the reason they weren't inducted on the first eligibility?

We are still waiting on an answer!

General public nominates...how many OHS alums have you personally taken the time to compile a list of accomplishments for and nominate?

Most nominees get nominated by close family...where was that for him?

Im not absolving anything...I voted my conscience in my first opportunity as a trustee.

The real truth is that if he accepted the nomination, he wouldnt have anything to be bitter about towards OHS....so he'll continue to preach out of one side of his mouth on Facebook about people "being judged" for perceived slights against him and hate out of the other.

Too bad because he had all the talent in the world. I'm guessing it's bitterness and he has to lay blame somewhere and why not the OHS HOF committee??? Because they're the reason that goals in life go unfulfilled, right?
  • OQB
For someone who thinks Orrville athletic tradition doesn't mean anything and one who doesn't really support anything or anyone but friends/family....you sure are obsessed with the Orrville High School Athletic Hall of Fame.....if playing at Orrville doesn't mean anything, why do you keep bringing this up?

I haven't and won't take the time to compile a list. For the two spoken of it doesn't require a compilation to realize that they were deserving. The stat compilation is required work to justify the nomination, anyone who's followed the sport has witnessed all the justification already.
RedRider1;1006697 wrote:...Most nominees get nominated by close family...where was that for him?...
Most, does not mean all nominees!

Did he he turn down the first nomination?

Really??? Do you really believe that he's blaming OHS HOF for not accomplishing his goals in life?

I'll say this and I'm done with this conversation,

You all did that man a dis-service!

    I didn't say your RTR doesn't mean anything...it isn't however, everything.

I didn't bring it up the HoF stuff, read again...I simply responded to 1_beast.

You have to go over every single post with a fine tooth comb so you can find a way to make someone look like a ''bad'' person.

Nomination and Induction have two totally different meanings!

I believe that Ray received the necessary votes for the 2011 induction but declined to accept because Marcell was short on votes.

As far as why they didn't get (as you say) "inducted" on their first eligibility...because you need to be "nominated" first and then receive the votes to be "inducted".

As RR1 pointed out, they were not "nominated" the first time around and that falls on family and/or friends to do that. They have both been "nominated" and both are on the list currrently!

I am very close to this situation. Knowing Bunk and Renauld all my life and my father is on the HOF committe. The anger came when ppl in their era were elected into the HOF and they were left out. and others have been left out that are well deserving.

I dont think the Riders go anywhere with Davault. the lack of discp. is the main factor, and NO O CORD. IS KILLING the Riders. I bet the Def. staff hates that there is NO O cord.

You mean like going to the playoffs 4 times in the last six years, or going to the regional championships twice and the state semis once in those four trips?
  • Old Rider
If you all haven't heard already, it sounds as though the Norwayne Bobcats will be getting field turf and some stadium renovations due to a donation from a well-to-do alum.

If we are taking the necessary steps to re-surface the track, why wouldn't we just go ahead and move forward with installing turf??? I don't buy the "too expensive" argument...its much more affordable these days and we have plenty of businesses in this town that could help.

The football field is "the center' of our new campus style approach to the buildings, but have you taken a real good look at the stadium lately??
    • The home bleachers are rusted everywhere and the "rabbit cage" fencing around the top is aweful looking.
    • The field has a 5 foot crown down the entire center of the playing surface.
    • The fencing that faces the two new schools looks horrible.
    • The back-drop behind the restrooms looks like Sanford & Sons.
    • The restrooms are five miles away and in need of some serious remodeling.
Ohh, I almost forgot, our scoreboard looks nice!

Norwayne just told Orrville....Step yo game up!!!!!!
