RedRider1The unofficial game preview.
http://www.redridersportsblog.com/2011/10/week-10-preview-game-orrville-vs.html
riders1 and everyone else....per Aaron Dorksen at the DR, Wooster's all-time record is 542-466-53...thats 1061 games. Per me...Orrville is 594-344-41 in 979 games. 52 more wins in 82 less games. I like that stat. -
CCRollyOrrville should try joining the Federal League for 14 years and see how many wins you rack up in that time.

Are you new here? orrville has the toughest schedule in the state. -
Diehard Rider FanActually 9th toughest haha. Could you imagine what Orrville could do with Div I/II numbers? I mean look what we do now and we're just a meek little DIV school. The Fed wouldn't stand a chance.

That is an interesting point, do you think if you had DI/DII numbers you would lose some of that edge? I mean would there be a point of diminishing returns numbers wise for the orrville program? -
you think you knowActually
#166 Orrville (6-3) 117.8
Ranked #15 of 122 in Division IV, #2 in Region 13
Str-of-sched 0.717, #144 toughest overall, #8 in Division IV

Per me, after using the Wayne County High School Football as a starter and the Daily Record archives, the Journal and Courier archives, and Red Rider Sports blog, I will stay with my stats, lolRedRider1;947874 wrote:The unofficial game preview.

Alltime Orrville record in this the 101st year for the Red Riders 594 wins 354 losses 41 ties
Alltime Wooster record in this their 111th season, only 538 wins , but 468 losses and 51 ties
PS: RR1 I think you are short 10 losses for us as adding your blog numbers by decades, I come up with 331 regular season and 20 playoff losses, for 351 before this season, so we are at 354 losses, typo? -

At least the Woo numbers are close..... ~540 wins. -
riders1Oh, by the way Ringz can Triway ( cough, cough) get us another win, we could use those 5.5 points from Timken
-
THE4RINGZWe'll see what we can do, OK?

RedRider1Game just got bigger.....

CCRollyHaving endured the pain of the 1991 Wooster team that went 0-10, I figured I'd take a moment to reflect on that season a little bit. I remember not scoring a touchdown until Week 5 or 6 against Ashland. I remember a pep rally where the senior captains declared, "We have Glenoak tonight...they haven't won a game yet either, so we have a good shot." Only to look up at the scoreboard in the 4th quarter and being down 61-0 and the student body chanting, "We want....69." That was also the season that the boys soccer team outscored the football team on the season. We were also the TV-67 game of the week when we played at Lake and took a monumental 60-something to nothing beatdown. It was a season where on 3rd and 24 the coach would call draw plays, and on 4th and whatever, the quarterback would throw his passes into the band. Timken was really bad back then, but they beat us 22-10 at Fawcett with the only Wooster score being a fumble recovered in the endzone. You know what's funny about that season still?
Maurer Field was packed and LOUD every Friday night. The student section was filled beyond capacity and the community showed school spirit. Heck, Orrville week meant something then...there were signs throughout town and halfway down Back Orrville Road. Wooster rolled into town and had Red Rider fans on the edge of their seats all night before dropping a 24-23 heartbreaker on a last second field goal. This is still one of the best Wooster/Orrville football games that I've attended. There was something about having all the cards stacked against you all year, from playing mostly sophomores on Varsity and a brutal Federal League schedule, and yet the kids on the team busting their butts for the love of the game and yes, their school and community.
Fast forward to today, where there is no community involvement in Wooster/Orrville week. You can drive through town and not see one sign supporting this football team. The crowds at the game are only their for a social gathering and are not paying attention to the game or supporting the kids. Given a choice, I'd rather have how it was in 1991... -
RedRider1If it means playing at Mauer Field again...I'm all for it.
Rolly,
You bring up a good point....with Wooster's schedule in the Fed, lots of times, their record coming in to week 10 was very deceiving. Now that both are in the same conference, it's not as deceiving, but 4-5 doesn't accurately reflect the Generals this season.
I hope it's a close game tomorrow. -
BRFI like that post, CCRolly! It's a good read.

THE4RINGZThe Booster Club is sponsoring a tail gate party tonight for the Wooster faithful. It will be interesting to see what the attendance there is like. I know my kids who attend Wooster Schools had "Blue and Gold, Beat orrville" Day today. It ain't much, but it's something.

I applaud the effort! Maybe they can carry that to the game tomorrow night. -
