I Am AhabSOS, you are such a jealous hater. Your butt gets so chapped by a high school football team. Step back for a second and just think about that. High school football. I'm guessing you are well out of high school by your posts.
That lengthy post of yours is so idealistic and lame. Heres a suggestion. Instead of pointing the finger and asking why don't these people (whoever you're referring to) clean up their streets (since there is obviously some simple solution that's obviously very easy to employ) why don't YOU just tell us how it's done.
And don't give some cookie cutter generalization about the teachers, or coaches, or whoever else simply needing to involve themselves in the lives of the young people more than they do. Don't give us that BS unless you are d@mn sure that there aren't already many people at SHS that do their best at this.
Instead why don't you, in all your wisdom, give us some real concrete model of how to end poverty and crime. Give us the solution that only you know. You are obviously one of the great sociological minds of our time because you sit there from your high horse and taunt the community in Steubenville for having problems that dont exist in your neighborhood.
And you make these problems sound easy to repair. So give us some concrete, specific, plan to save the city of Steubenville and then get your a$$ out there and put it to action. You work in Steubenville and think that the poverty and crime are terrible right? So get off this message board and go show us how it's done. If you don't then you are just one of those people, letting the community you work in go to crap.
So walk the walk or just shut up and go enjoy your mediocre football team and let the people of Steubenville enjoy their superior team. Either you don't care what goes on in the community in which you work or you don't know as much as you like to think you do.
Tell us how the Steubenville poster is to get off his butt and fight crime. Or answer this questionat least. What are you doing to fight crime in the city where you are employed what are you doing to make the streets you work on safer from thugs? What are you doing to help ensure the safety of your co-workers n friends in Steuby? -
I Am AhabAnd SOS if you make it an IC vs SHS thing by saying if there were an IC kid headed down the wrong path I'd do my best to stop it then you are even lower than I thought.
Because if you genuinely give a sh*t about a kid ruining his life then you don't care what school he's from. He's a kid and deserves your help. So since you know how to save the youth of Steubenville, give us your detailed solution and then put it into action and we will all sit here and watch the last 20 years of degradation be reversed and you will be a hero.
So let's see it. Or are you just full of hot air, which is what I suspect. -
sonofsamYou want the answer, here it is... Less focus on football and more focus on whats going on in town. Harding stadium holds almost 10,000 people, half of them are Steubenville residents and supporters. When was the last time that many people showed up at the council meeting? how about 10-15 council meetings in a row? You are willing to pay $6 or more a piece every Friday for 10+ weeks for a 2 1/2 hour event. Lets say that 4,000 people show us at each game throughout the season at $6 a ticket. That is $240,000. With that kind of support for the city and the issues taking place, imagine what the people could do? The problem won't stop if it keeps getting minimal support.

war_admiralLMAO......SOG.
Big Red Football has helped so many more people then you'll know. It has helped more people to stay off the block, stay out of trouble and your solution is less football. Those supporters of the program show up through wins, losses, heat, snow, rain. Through the good times and the bad.
Lets look at t he improvements that SCS has made OTHER THEN FOOTBALL to help the community. We are graded out by the state higher then any other Jefferson County school. When we receive any state funds we accomplish the goals and use the funds to the fullest (unlike Creek and other systems) Our operational expertise is held up as a model for ALL in the state(we operate in the BLACK rather then the RED), and that's from an outside study. We give our students new buildings, new classrooms, new equipment, positive role models in educators that thrive to challenge our students to achieve higher goals.
So I would say Steubenville City Schools are doing a major part in developing and nurturing our Steubenville youth.
I Am Ahab, SOS is not the least bit interested in solving the problem. He is interested in two things and two things only: making you afraid of it and telling you who's to blame for it. He is Senator Bob Rumson
I can still remember his rant on the now defunct Chop site about Little Leaguers from Steubenville tagging in what he called HIS cit....errr Village. What was the advice you gave them then....go stand where, go drink what, what NAME did you call those Little Leaguers?????
So you see I Am Ahab SOS is not JUST a jealous hater. It runs much deeper then jealousy.... -
ManO'WarYou guys have to remember who you are dealing with here.
Someone who puts out the same garbage over and over, without any facts, just what he "hears".
Deep down he thinks that if he puts down Big Red enough that some of the players will want to go to Indian Creek, in which then he would welcome these "transfers" with open arms. But he fails to realize that number one, nobody wants to go to school in trailers, number two, nobody wants to play in a pathetic program, and number three, it takes a lot more than a player or two to build a program.
What is funny is all this talk about Open Enrollment and recruiting when Indian Creek was the first and biggest offender back when they started stealing all of CCHS's players in the late 90's. -

MoW, you know I have the facts. I can name every source and every things that has happened. Why I don't? Because these are people. They are people that could be punished for talking. They are people that could "lose" their "Big Red Insider Sausage Party Card".
I do not want ANY of your players from down there. Keep them. I am not fond of the ones that go to Big Red, find out that the promises are not real, and come back. I highly DOUBT their loyalty.
As for War Admiral, How many times do I have to ask you to refrain from posting the absolute most off the wall idiotic things that run through your mind? YOU my friend need the MH evaluation. You ever been my patient before? You sound a lot like MOST of them. -

Good points. Then maybe if everyone in the world stopped going to football games and just gave that money to the city it would solve all the worlds problems. Now get out there and make that idea work.
When was the last time you went to a council meeting in the city where you are employed? How much time and money have you spent improving the streets you and your co-workers have to work on? Are you talking the talk or walking the walk?
Do some google searches real quick and find some of IC's troubled former athletes. Rape, drugs, arson, cheerleaders and sexting scandals. Are those isolated incidents or are they problems with young people that have been part of humanity since civilization began?
Where were you when these kids were headed down the wrong path? Maybe if the Creekers weren't so concerned with what the band is playing or what Big Reds football team is doing you could devote more time to making sure this stuff doesn't happen. Or wait you can't because it's all part of the human condition. And areas with a higher population and more poverty will continue to see more of the types of things I mentioned above that I found out about IC students. And Steubenville will continue to have problems associated with poverty because it's an area depressed economically.
So why do such things happen at IC and why aren't you out there crusading to stop these things from happening again at your Alma mater? Perhaps if you spent less time on a football message board you would have more time to involve yourself in making sure not one more Redskin heads down the wrong path. It's bow d to happen again and again because IC's students are human too. Better get to work smart guy. -

One person can make a difference, when it comes to Steubenville, myself alone cannot do it. I don't want those issues spreading here, so send me a PM when you are available to attend a council meeting and we will go together. I will hold up my end of the bargin.I Am Ahab;864774 wrote:When was the last time you went to a council meeting in the city where you are employed? Lets see... All those huh? got names? Arson yes... Seditz. A kid with mental problems that was in IC's special ed classes. Drugs? Bonecutter. He is deceased now. Drug overdose. He was the same age as I and I offered my support and help. I guess you got me on that one, but how many drug dealers/users are there at Big Red? I am guessing (No I am positive) MORE than one since 1997. Got names on the rape??? News to me... Would love to hear about this as well ast the "sexting scandal"I Am Ahab;864774 wrote:Do some google searches real quick and find some of IC's troubled former athletes. Walk around my block, look at the yards and talk to the people. There are more Big Red supports than anything else. I do not live in Steubenville or a "poverty area" Like I said before, do you really consider these people "true" to Big Red since they choose to pay IC taxes and not live your "poverty conditions"?I Am Ahab;864774 wrote:Where were you when these kids were headed down the wrong path? I am very active in the IC community and very willing to help those I can along with a good portion of the IC community. You can put us down, call us names, but all you are doing is making us stronger. Your history is beginning to prove that.I Am Ahab;864774 wrote:So why do such things happen at IC and why aren't you out there crusading to stop these things from happening again at your Alma mater? The facts hurt. I love how you just call me idiotic and mental.lol See...what I tell ya, SOS can't argue FACTS he calls them names....is that what they are teaching out at Creek now in Debate Club. WOW.
FACT 1:
Steubenville ranked among most efficient in Ohio
in providing non-instructional services, study says
Ohio Education Matters honors district as part of Ohio Smart Schools initiative
CINCINNATI– (MAY 24, 2011) – The Steubenville City School District is one of the most efficient school districts in the state in providing non-instructional services, outpacing other similar districts in operational costs, Ohio Education Matters announced today.
“Steubenville has shown that it can deliver quality services at a lower cost than most other districts in the state,” said Andrew Benson, Executive Director of Ohio Education Matters. “The taxpayers and residents of this community should be proud that their district takes seriously the best use of resources to benefit children.”
The rating stems from a report issued by Ohio Education Matters this year as part of its nine-month study of K-12 education called Ohio Smart Schools. That report, titled Benchmarking Ohio’s School Districts: Identifying districts that get more for their money in non-instructional spending, identified 135 school districts across Ohio that seem to get more for their money in central-office administration, school-level administration, food service, student transportation, and building maintenance and operations than other similar districts.
“School districts that are not as efficient as this best-in-class district should look to them to learn how they are doing more with less,” said Mr. Benson. “By spending less in these non-instructional areas and yet still meeting minimal quality standards, these districts are ensuring that more dollars are getting into its classrooms to help support students.”
I can post the funding numbers as well...even where the state took back funding from creek because they FAILED to implement and achieve certain standards regarding certain areas of test scores....or something IDIOTIC like that

war_admiralJust sit back while the clock strikes twelve on Creek and the state steps in and shuts ya down. It's only a matter of time before you'll find yourself thinking back to the good ol' ...errr below .500 days of coach Connor. Wishing you still had a school to support. Oh yeah that's right, the wolves have already been at the doorstep........"WARRIORRRRRRS COME OUT TO PLAYYYYYYY".

I Am AhabI'm not sure of this, since I don't live in the area, but I know one man personally who lives in the IC school district but chooses to send his kids to SHS. One of his kids has autism and he has his needs better met at SHS than he would IC. I'm sure that this couple isnt the only one like that.
I wonder how people who live closer to SHS send their kids to IC.
I'm sorry, i didn't mean rape. The title of the article is Cadet Sexually Assaults 13 yr-old girl. Apparently one of the upstanding citizens, a product of the IC football program sexually assaulted a girl at a camp where he was a counselor. Where were you SOS when this guy was headed down that path?
Maybe now you can get it through your thick head that every school has it's screw ups. I dont remember this guy getting alot of news coverage for this even though it's 20x's more sickening than what Busick did. The reason is because no one cares about IC football. People actually recognize the name Steubenville Big Red.
I'm not going to give names but I think you can find these articles on the jackasses from Indian Creek. They are just like every other school and everyone but you knows it SOS. -
2002sunsetI have a little perspective on this. I moved to Steubenville about 8 years ago and have three daughters. They started in Steubenville City Schools at that time. I had heard some of the issues that go on in the city (as any city has). It has become somewhat of a depressed AREA. I moved to Wintersville 4 years ago and at that time, checked out every school ranking and rating I could get my hands on. My daughters had no interest in switching schools. I did mainly due to our proximity to IC and the transportation thing. After the research that I did, I could not justify making them switch schools. I have 3 girls going to 3 different SCS buildings and it is a burden, but the point is, it is well worth it. I am not going to do the research again for the fools bashing SCS on here. Do it yourself. 26 out of 26 academic indicators as stated last night at the back to school rally (3rd year in a row, at least). I know my daughters are getting a good education and I don't doubt that could be done at IC also. The passion that I see from most of the teachers and coaches lets me know that I made the right decision. The awesome football program is just a bonus and my family smiling most Friday nights walking out of a stadium is just another bonus. If you are happy with your school and your location, why is there a need to try to convince someone how terrible your big brother is. Go be happy.

GoChiefsAlright boys, if you wanna talk about the city of Stuebenville or whoever's crime, problems, issues, whatever, go create a thread about it in the Serious Business forum. This is the High School football forum. Let's stick to football before the thread gets out of hand any more than it already is. None of this has anything to do with football.

In your dreams ... Thats what you want less focus on football. Reno and his staff are paid to keep the football team where it is at . It is a positive influence in our community . In the times that we are living in and the unemployment rate the way it is . it is a joy to have something positive to watch on friday . it brings the community together . It gives us all something to be proud about .. ths Steubenville public school system is doing a fine job . It is part of the community ,but it isnt city and county government . Thank god . If you want to start an issue on those entities then the political forum is for your rants .. You only wish our football program would start to fail like so many other things .. Heck its one of the only positive things we have today and you would like to see it go away .. no thankssonofsam;864263 wrote:You want the answer, here it is... Also how come all our levies have passed and thats for the schools and the city. Steubenville is on the uprise again . Indian Ccrrek needs the mill in Mingo to save its district . i hope the mills gets up and running again ,but dont count on it . Sooner or later your school district will become part of Steubenville's . I just hope if Im alive to see it we dont dare change our colors or let 5 teenagers decide they want purple and orange .. -
