O-Trap10 minutes to go. Wynford up 33-0.
Turnovers and the inability to defend the pass, as well as an odd game plan, killed the Smithies tonight.
The Royals were a very sharp team. They were fast and swarmed well. Good rush from the D-line.
The field was in really good shape, it looked like. The fans were nice and hospitable, and the ribeye was tasty.
Good luck to the Royals next week.
Now, good luck to the Norwayne team and the Orrville team! -
1_beast33-7 Final, I guess the guy on here telling us how good Wynford is wasnt kidding. Glad he scared me off and convinced me not to go to the game!
Good season Smithville! -
OQBScore is misleading.....
Wynford is a good football team, but is very beatable. Odd play calling cost the smithies and pass defense which is their weakness really showed tonight. Wynford never really did shut the run game down, but they kept calling drive killing pass plays.
I think the game turned when smithville threw a pass on 2nd down on the 15 yard line and just couldn't get it in yhe endzone.
My gut tells me godfather will be back....
CONGRATS SMITHIES ON A GREAT SEASON!! -
THE4RINGZNice run by the Smithies.

Red RumJust rolled in from Bucyrus,
I don't think the score was misleading at all. Smithville got handled by a better team.
Congrats to the Royals
also, very nice fans.
The really interesting thing about Wynford is you can pretty much stand anywhere you want. Miyagi was actually standing on the Smithville sideline for awhile. I've never seen anything quite like it. On the scoreboard side of the field, fans pretty much followed the action from the 30 yard line to the endzone right beside and behind the chain gang. Very different viewing experience. I actually kind of like it.
and finally, really cool wind turbines near stadium, I just wish they had outside ladder access because Miyagi was gonna attempt the climb while we waited for the traffic jam to clear up.
Nice season Smithville and good luck to Wynford next week. -
thePITman^^ You didn't mention the manure smell being blown over to the stadium from the field across the road. Mmm...

OQBWas Wynford the Royals or the Lions, or were they trying to be like the lion king? I was pretty impressed with their facilities...very nice!

I love the smell of manure in the morning.

OQBRed Rum;958594 wrote:I don't think the score was misleading at all.
See I think it was....here is my reasoning.
It was scoreless after 1 quarter.
Smithville goes for it on 4th down at the Wynford 40 yard line and doesnt get it. The Royals got the ball back and used a 30 yard screen pass to get the ball inside the 15 and ended up taking the lead 6-0 at the beginning of the first qtr.
Smithville gets the ball back and drives the length of the field....running the ball at will. They get to about the 12 yard line and call a pass play on 2nd down, and made it 3 and 9, but couldn't get into the endzone. After a Wynford 1st down, they throw a 70 yard pass to get the ball inside the 5 yard line and take a 14-0 lead heading into the half.
Royals get the ball after half and 2nd play was a 64 yard run to go up 20-0
They then drove the length of the field for their 4th score, which was the only nice long drive they had.
Wynford then returned an interception 40 yards for their final score.
This game was all about the big play, and Wynford definately had all of them. No doubt they are a good team and will give the region trouble, I just think if Smithville could've punched it in in the 2nd qtr to go up 7-6 it might've been a very different ball game. The game got out of reach pretty quickly, and after they scored on the second play of the 2nd half, I knew it would be hard for Smithville to come back down 3 scores knowing the offense they run.
Ok, that's my reason I thought the score was misleading.....either way Wynford won and Smithville lost. Good luck to the Royals, and Smithies you had a great season, Congrats! -
Mr Miyagi
Was that manure ? Miyagi thought that that smell was the result of Red Rum's new medication he was taking.....and standing where ever you want ? Chairs in the end zone? Miyagi was surprised there wasn't any tents set up out there.....and why go for it on 4th and 5 from mid field? and call a pass play ? Cmon Man .........and yes Miyagi rode with Red Rum, had to listen to Peabo Bryson the whole waythePITman;958596 wrote:^^ You didn't mention the manure smell being blown over to the stadium from the field across the road. We'll have to agree to disagree on this one. I saw a well balanced team expose a one dimensional team. I understand you're a Smithville fan, but watch the game a few days from now after the emotion has subsided.
Wynford was well prepared for Smithvilles running game and they were able to stop it from being effective. Smithville was not prepared for Wynfords passing game and it showed.
Saying if this happened or that happened would have changed the game doesn't matter because it didn't happen. IMO, it came down to Wynford executed their offense while Smithville was unable too.
Still, Smithville had a nice year.
any other opinions on this? -

No, I agree with you....Wynford had a very good team and executed well. No excuses, show up or go home that is what playoff football is about.Red Rum;958658 wrote:OrrQB-

This game just reminded me a lot of the Orr/Woo game last saturday, it was pretty close for awhile and then Wynford just ran away with it with the big plays. I just tried to give a recap and how I thought Smithville had it's chances but couldn't get it done....Wynford has a great program.
ps: I'm an Orrville fan who just happens to support and root for the wcal teams...the only connection I have is my dad went to Smithville. No emotions to subside, just like to watch football and see the local teams do well. -

And you think the score was misleading? What more do you want Wynford to do? Smithville had 2 good drives in the first half, and Wynford's D forced them to stall (I thought the 2nd down pass was odd, too, and I had just asked a Smithville fan beside me right before that play if Smithville ever used the play-action. Haha). In the 2nd half, the Smithies couldn't get anything going at all while Wynford piled it on.OQB;958632 wrote:The game got out of reach pretty quickly, and after they scored on the second play of the 2nd half, I knew it would be hard for Smithville to come back down 3 scores knowing the offense they run.
Fair enough. Like in the Norwayne/Smithville game, Norwayne couldn't score if they didn't have the ball... and Wynford didn't get the ball in the first half much, "only" leading 14-0 at the break.OQB;958661 wrote:This game just reminded me a lot of the Orr/Woo game last saturday, it was pretty close for awhile and then Wynford just ran away with it with the big plays. 1486wdi kept wondering if the smithie d had some issues with the pass (we saw it against tuslaw, hillsdale, and last night) and that they needed to throw at least a tiny bit - the smithie faithful said no problems, move on (just not to the second round of the playoffs). In any case, it was still a nice season for the smithie program - getting back to the postseason after a few yrs is good for the wcl. In the paper this morning, it sounded like shrock wasn't going anywhere.

Yeah, I agree with that. After the "Quick kick" went bad he was holding the hot potato without a plan against a Wynford pass rush which was pretty darn good.Go Falcons;958717 wrote:It looked to me and my companions that he actually was backing up to boot it but the snap was bad. -

Sounds like Royal Football to me. Their team speed is what impressed me the two years I was privileged to watch our BULLDOGS there. We were fortunate enough last year to jump on them early and take them out of their comfort zone.Red Rum;958658 wrote:OrrQB-

Great job by the Smithies this year making it to week 11. Thanks for shaking up the league this year!!
Good luck to the BOBCATS & RED RIDERS tonite!! -
