Absolutely, we both have to take care of business Saturday night first! Good luck to the bobcats, they sure do have an excellent team.

This was a great event for Wayne County, and what a money maker for Orrville to host.....I would think IF the two schools met up next week the game would be at Medina (turf field) but wish it didn't have to leave Wayne County. But I would rather play on turf than a bad grass field.

yea, that was a great thing for the county. Unfortunately, this yr, there is no way its not on a turf field.
  • RedRider1
Hope it happens...we'll know about 36 hours from now.

I've already told a few people "No, I can't do anything Saturday, November 12" so as to reserve my evening if Orrville and Norwayne both win this week. Good luck to all the Wayne County schools!

Like RR1 said, less than 36 hours away from knowing!

I've blocked out the next 5 weeks of Saturday nights...just in case, you know?

How about the Emerald Town ?
Umm ... because that wasn't a place mentioned in the Judy Garland musical, or anywhere else I know of?

Well yeah, your team is in the playoffs.

What exactly does Smithville have to do with the Wizard of Oz?

I've never seen a yellow brick road there. No drunken midgets either.
Wicked witches?....nope, Bobcatmom lives in Creston.
Flying Monkeys?....can't be, Miyagi killed and served all the airborne primate flesh years ago.
    Why the comparison?

Is it the green thing?..... if so...

most algae is green, why not Algaeville. I'm sure some can be found in the creek that runs through town.

or how about Grassburg, grass is green and Smithville is home to the JOINT vocational school.

    forget playoff football,
this incredibly important issue should merit the formation of a committee,
to study the possibility of creating a focus group,
to decide whether it would be prudent to hire a consultant,
to make recommendations on the viability of forming another committee,
    to discuss the village nickname.

Schrock = The wizard behind the curtain.

    Hope this helps.

    Fair enough.

There's a wizard and a land of emerald green.
Red Rum;957727 wrote:No drunken midgets either.
You've obviously never been to the Smithville barber shop on a Friday.
Red Rum;957727 wrote:Wicked witches?....nope, Bobcatmom lives in Creston.
EVERY locale has a Wicked witch or two. ;)
Red Rum;957727 wrote: Flying Monkeys?....can't be, Miyagi killed and served all the airborne primate flesh years ago.
Yeah, the rest migrated away once Miyagi started that phase.

You find me a well-known reference to a place called Algaeville, and we'll talk about it.

    See above.

Actually, the green of the jerseys is emerald green, so that makes even more sense, but I digress ...

Nobody in Smithville seems to think so.

Pay no attention to the Schrock behind that curtain.

    OTrap-
I can't believe you actually dissected and multiquoted my last post. You must be really, really bored:D
However, since you did, I will reply in classic Otrap fashion
O-Trap;957794 wrote:You've obviously never been to the Smithville barber shop on a Friday.
I actually have and they aren't midgets. They're just vertically challenged locals that mumble alot.

O-Trap;957794 wrote:You find me a well-known reference to a place called Algaeville, and we'll talk about it..
I called it Algaeville, there's your reference. Miyagi and Bloody know me, hence I'm well known and it seems to me we're already talking about it.

O-Trap;957794 wrote:Actually, the green of the jerseys is emerald green, so that makes even more sense
not really, Waynedales jerseys are Diarrhea Brown yet we don't call Apple Creek.....Diarrhea Creek.

O-Trap;957794 wrote:Nobody in Smithville seems to think so.
Have you asked EVERYONE in Smithville? I'm gonna need proof. (notarized affidavits from all 1333 citizens)

    Miyagi-
Bloody said to tell you "secret code 286". How cute it is you two have developed a message system. Do you guys have matching decoder rings too?

    Buckeye05-
Wynford has a fine looking team. Best of luck tonight.

    Luckydog-
Way to stir it up. You haven't ripped me a new one in awhile. I must be losing my touch.

THE MORE YOU KNOW SEGMENT......for BRF
Bucyrus is town of largely german heritage. It is home to the Bucyrus Bratwurst Festival.
The towns named is derived from the words "Beautiful" and "Cyrus" (as in Cyrus the Great, king of Persia)
It is also the center of the Bucyrus Micropolitan Statistical Area, whatever that is.
and finally, the population is about 13,000

What can I say? I'm on vacation this week.

Then why do they carry around Lollypop Guild business cards?
Red Rum;958099 wrote:I called it Algaeville, there's your reference.
You're not important, so it doesn't count. ;)

I'd be wary referencing THOSE two to lend you credibility.

    Maybe YOU don't ...

We had a town meeting. No objections.

    You weren't invited.

What a great night that was! There is always a great atmosphere around Wayne County football. Always great support. I remember when Smithville went to Strongsville to play Bedford Chanel and about 3000 fans showed up to cheer Smithville from all over Wayne County!

    Norwayne/Orrville would be huge!

Wayne County football... always a great place to be!
  • distantsmithie
Who needs television when I can just be entertained by you guys and your posts! I am thinking a reality show centered around Wayne County! From the diarreah creek to the flying monkeys to the thriving cat industry... sounds like a hit to me. Any ideas for a name? "The 'jives' of Wayne County"?
  • distantsmithie
Just checking out the Daily Record sports page on line and there are articles for Norwayne and Orrville but nothing about Smithville. Am I missing something or did they cover that yesterday?

Wow! You're last rep bumped me up to 6! You are frickin' amazing!

I will shut my mouth now and go back to reading........and waiting.......to hear from the "funny guys"!
  • distantsmithie
Wow!! Another pick! Is that 33-0? I think we should learn to pass in case we need it... I know it is not typical Smithie football, but you gotta be able to mix it up a bit early, but there has been no mix at all through this game. When you cannot get around the end you gotta do something to keep the DBs from playing so close!
