Steubenville Big Red 2010

  Big Red not just survives, but thrives financially, there is a difference (see Massillon).

  Big Red has some of the very best facilities and staffs in the country. No matter what Big Red wants, Big Red gets. Not all of the money comes from football, of course, but the football revenue does help.

  I would say the 99% of the money taken in is from Football, or football related things. Basketball draws a few hundred per game, baseball under a 100, and all the other sports even less.

  Inkster is a much tougher opener than playing Creek. We should learn early how good a team we have. Of course, Inkster won't have Gardner, so this will be a learning experience for them, too.
  
  You are quoting me out of context. I was referring to the fact that Big Red needs a rival. Even though we play Park every year, it is no rivalry because Park is never competitive against us. After losing nine times in a row, St. Joe's finally gave up on us I guess. After a few more losses, O'Hara will be on their way, too. On the other hand, Inkster has proven that they can be competitive against us. But the rivalry will suffer because they don't bring many fans and we will never play in their woeful stadium.

  All I know is that Reno said two months ago that week 4 was open. I suppose we could play St. Joe's at a different time, but I just didn't think that was likely. I assumed they got tired of their annual beating.

  I guess legends grow as time moves on. I have the game tape somewhere of that contest, and I don't remember Reno running onto the field crying to the refs. The play was in the west endzone..more towards the south corner. After the forward lateral, the refs huddled and made the right call. The whole thing took maybe 10 seconds. I remember a few Big Red players like Del Vinson being next to the refs huddle while they conferenced, and they were making their point.
  
  Also, contrary to popular belief, this was not a playoff game, it was week 7 of the regular season. The playoff game was in 1985.

  Reno sprinted on the field after the refs made the wrong call. Reno knew that play was in Sammy's playbook and once he told the refs the rule on that play they made the right call. By the way, WHINERSville appealed to the OHSAA they looked at the play and upheld the call.

  Are you going to start that open enrollment again? Creek has the same open enrollment policy as Big Red, as do Buckeye, Toronto, and Edison. Why doesn't Creek draw players from Big Red? I'll tell you why. Big Red's program is one of the best in the state and Creek's program isn't worth a hill of beans. You need to actually beat somebody before you criticize us.

  What rule says we have to beat anyone before I can voice an opinion? I'll tell you what, give our players back, edisons back, weirs back, and the rest of the valleys back and then I will quit talking. Beat someone with your OWN players and then you can say whatever you want. Why so defensive?? You have everything you want and you are a so called "Top Program" so why not just ignore my posts and live happy? My comments shouldn't be "worth a hill of beans" right?

  Speaking of OWN. Big Red OWN's creek. And our players jersey's say BIG RED on them. So they are our players. We were beating teams before open enrollment...listen to how stupid you sound.

  OK, I'll post it as soon as I find out for sure. I talked with a player today who said we also have Brooke, and a strong Catholic School from the Washington D.C. area. The Brooke game may be in the fourth spot. You probably know we signed a home and home with the Morgantown Mowhawks. I heard the complete schedule but will wait and confirm it later.

  If we do play Brooke, I assume the first game will be in Wellsburg since we only have away games scheduled at Massillon and Morgantown.

  I think I know what Big Red's schedule will look like this year, but I'm not going to post it because I am not absolutely certain. It should be slightly less demanding than last year's schedule.
