i figure both teams are graduating a ton of talent and will need the practice. -
Pescara71I don't think either team is worried about having quality returning.

FairwoodKingI know for certain that we are playing East Liverpool and Warren Harding at home and Massillon on the road. I also know that we are not playing Creek, St. Joe's, or Poland. Beyond that, it's all speculation.
Since we won't know the schedule for several more months, it might be fun to suggest teams that you would like to see on Big Red's schedule. I will start the ball rolling by saying that I would like for Big Red to be in another classic game against a WPIAL team. -
september63Steubenville might be losing Macon, and a few players. there is never any letdown, however. I expect them at or top 3 again in whichever diivision they are in next year. Id like to renew Dover series, but alot of ppl say it wont happen bc neither coach would wanna show much in the regular season.
-
Strapping Young LadWhat ya mean 'not show anything'???? Like plays, formations, or what???
-
september63yes. They certainly would play to win but many ppl are of the thinking if you are going to play someone in the playoffs it might not be wise to schedule them out of conference regular season? Dover should try to schedule this series. Big Red has a program we are trying to get. I dont see how playing them, and learning from these games, doesnt help our program in the long run.

bigredbaseball0I don't know what games are what weeks, but I believe it is something like:
Warren Harding
East Liverpool
Massillion
Cardinal O'Hara (Senior Night)
New Philadelphia (In the works, from what I hear...done deal)
Brooke
Some Out of state team (for homecoming week) (Still Fairview?)
Cleveland Glenville (Pure speculation, just a rumor)
Wheeling Park -
bridgeport2001Thought i heard they were playing ALLIANCE MARLINGTON the next 2 years.
-
ZalKathWhen will they announce next years schedule?
-
DarkonWho's the QB next year?
Big Red has been blessed at this position for a few years now. -
Strapping Young LadHopefully it will be Prather behind center next year....haven't really seen to much of him, but he's tall, w/ some mobility, and looks like he throws a pretty nice deep ball.
We'll need Pierro and Meyer at reciever....
As far as playing Dover, I thought I heard Dover is moving up to D2 next season....if so, there'd be no harm in a reg season game, and if that's the case i'd LOVE to see that happen...
Hell, even if Dover is still in our region, I don't see any problem with smokin' Dover two times in one season....
We could show 'em everything and they wouldn't be able to stop it...they made that apparent on all those third and fourth downs. -
bigredbaseball0Dover won't move up to D2 till at least 2011. They just redid the divisions this past season so they won't be done again till after next season.

Glenville would be nuts. You thought Mooney's line was huge?bigredbaseball0 wrote: I don't know what games are what weeks, but I believe it is something like:

New Philadelphia would be a good choice for getting computer points. NP is a surprisingly weak team considering how many games they win. This year they went 9-1 and failed to make the playoffs.bigredbaseball0 wrote: I don't know what games are what weeks, but I believe it is something like:

Brooke has never beaten Big Red and would not have done so this year despite the fact that they are undefeated and going to the WV state championship game this week. I would like to see this series resume. We need to play some local teams if only for the money involved. I'm sure Brooke would bring a big crowd. Having said that, I will guess that if the series resumes, the first game will be at Brooke because Big Red only has one away game definitely scheduled.
I don't see us playing Glenville, although stranger things have happened. For whatever it's worth, we are 1-0 against Ginn, and Glenville has never beaten us. -
SykotykYeah, Glenville is unreal. On team I think that rivals Mooney's line.
As for games, I agree with the logic about not scheduling OOC games against regional opponents you'll probably see in the playoffs. Two prime examples: Canton McKinley-Massillon and Iggy-Glenville. Two straight years, Iggy-Glenville had the loser win the rematch. This past year, McK lost the rematch after winning the regular season game. It's hard beating the same team twice in a season. So, why add the extra pressure?
At the Rally in the Valley, they were talking that North Allegheny (Wexford, PA) was going to host a Rally-type event next year involving North Allegheny, Pittsburgh Central Catholic, Woodland Hills, Penn-Trafford, and Thomas Jefferson against Ohio teams. Would love to see an NA-Big Red or PCC-Big Red game. Size-wise, TJ-Big Red would be close (TJ is a AAA PIAA team). That would be Week 2, again.
Also, any word on weather Buchtel will be back on the schedule? I liked the games in '05 and '06, but it's not interesting anymore.
As for Fairview, being a District 10 school, my guess is this was a one-off 'fix' for their schedule having an open date in it. My old high school every once and a while will find a non-district or out-of-state team to fill a one or two year gap in their schedule, but generally schedule only within their district whenever possible to both boost rivalries (PIAA D10 teams travel well amongst themselves) and only their Region standings matter for the playoffs, so who they play doesn't matter in the long run.
If it were up to me:
Warren Harding
@ Massillon
vs. Thomas Jefferson (@ Wexford, PA)
Wheeling Park
East Liverpool
Cardinal O'Hara
@ New Philadelphia (need a road game for a home game next year when WGH and WP are road games)
Brooke
Inkster (I'd love a rematch)
Martins Ferry
Last one is my personal 'I'd like to see that' game, even though I don't think MF stands a chance.

Glenville's line is not as big as Mooney's. Take a look at the numbers.mlisi39 wrote: Glenville would be nuts. You thought Mooney's line was huge? -
Strapping Young LadHaha!!! You're scared of pusheDover.....
I say schedule them....the more times we can beat them down the better!!! -

pitt1980rumors of black helmets next year?

sonofsamI know it means nothing to anyone on here, but I would have loved for the Big Red/IC match-up to have lasted one or two more years... Would have been a little more interesting match-up and I think that IC still needs this game. We picked up FREAKIN' Weir instead... Not so happy about that one.
