    Big Red vs. Toronto
    Mooney vs. Edison
    Iggy vs. Buckreye
Poland vs. Creek(If the flu doesn't hit)Weirton is on standby.

If it's Creek's goal to make the playoffs (even if it's one and done), getting rid of an automatic loss is probably a good idea. If they can't beat Weir High, they can't beat anybody.

Who are we going to drop? Massillon? We shut them down this past year.

Seriously, who have we ever dropped? The last time I know of was back in 1968. We beat Toledo Scott. After the game, the Big Red football mothers provided a spaghetti dinner for the Scott team. The players had a food fight and tore the cafeteria apart. We dropped them in all sports and have never played them since. Other than that, I cannot remember a time that we ever dropped anyone.

The funny thing is that when you ask that question "who has Big Red ever dropped?" Its a mixed answer depending on who you ask. I know for a fact that Big Red asked a team a few years back "if they really wanted to continue this" meaning the games were getting out of hand. The school replied by agreement that the games were not going to get better over the remainder of the contract, so who dropped who??? Thats a pretty open-ended way of dropping a team if you ask me. It showed that Big Red had no interest in keeping them on the schedule... I think I would have to hear from school officials before I really made a guess at how many teams Big Red has dropped, or left an open-ended option displaying Big Red's lack of interest to keep that particular team on the schedule.

Woods, I never give up as long as the shots keep coming. Just because I didn't go to Big Red does not mean I am a quitter. Let me go back to wondering how many teams Big Red will drop this year... Why not play Woodland Hills again? Big Red looked pretty solid with zero points when Macon was on the sideline. Massillon? Yep, not gonna happen this year. Poland still on the schedule??? I bet they are licking their chops this year. East Liverpool might even find a blind nut this year, just like they almost did last year...

So who is Mr. everything at QB this year? The transfer from Weir? Edison? Or will it be the Steubenville Boy that lives in IC's district? Any Insight?

Just because we gave Edison the option of cancelling their contract because they weren't competitive doesn't mean we dropped them. You don't know Reno very well. He is dead set against dropping anyone, no matter what the circumstances. If Edison had wanted to continue playing us, the series would have gone on.

Why drop Woodland Hills? We never really scheduled them in the first place. They were part of a package deal for us to play in the Friends of Coal Classic last year. There was no actual contract in the usual sense, so neither team dropped the other. I would be in favor of playing them at their place. They have one of the ten best stadiums in the country according to ESPN, so it might be nice to go there. They have an ax to grind with us since we played them three times and beat them three times, including a shut-out and one of the worst defeats in their school's history. If we played them every year, we might actually get a good rivalry out of it. That's something Creek could never give us.

As far as Poland is concerned, they dropped us, we didn't drop them and I don't know why. I have asked Poland people several times on their threads but no one has given me an answer. They dropped us before they played us in Harding Stadium this past year, so I know their decision was not based on anything that happened in that game.

East Liverpool is either dropping us this year or next year, and again I don't know why. Over the past dozen years they are one of the few schools to give us any competition.

And finally, I don't know who our quarterback will be this year but I do know one thing: he will be playing at Big Red because he wants to be here. Whoever it is, he obviously does not want to play for Creek or Weir or any other team. We have put our last two qb's into Div. I college along with some other players. It is much easier to get a college scholarship by playing for Big Red than to play for any other team in the OVAC. If you don't believe me, ask the kid from Union Local who was such a big star in the Buckeye 8 two years ago. To my knowledge he never got an offer anywhere.

Big Red is going to have another exciting season this year. I'm looking forward to it.

I agree SOS! If the tables were turned it would be "Edison dropped us".
    Can't fix stupid

I honestly refuse to read past that point... Wrong choice of words fairwood, you just solidified my point.
  • FairwoodKing
I didn't solidify anything. If Edison wants to play us, they know our AD's number.

Big Red is not in a conference and we have difficulty getting a full schedule every year. For practical reasons, we are not in much of a position to drop anybody. But over the past five years, the following teams have dropped us for one reason or another: Creek, Poland, Watterson, Canton CC, Akron SVSM, Ursuline (although I hear that we may play them this year), and Buffalo St. Joe's. I don't know of one team that we have dropped.

Maybe you should read what I have posted. You might learn something.

First you attack us because we're not playing Mooney in the regular season, then you attack us because Edison didn't want to continue our contract.

If Creek wants to play Mooney and Edison, you play them.

I have never attacked Big Red for not playing Mooney in the regular season!

It was Reno himself that came to Edison and wanted to end the deal. So keep trying to paint the picture that it was Edison.

    Please don't distort the facts.

p.s. Edison and Creek play every year.
  • FairwoodKing
Reno may have offered Edison the chance to get out of the contract, but I am sure he didn't pressure them. I'm sure if Edison wanted to play Big Red, they could do it.
  • Darkon
If the roles were reversed would you say that Edison dropped Big Red?
    Damn right you would!
  • FairwoodKing
Damn right I wouldn't. Allowing a team to get out of a contract is not the same as dropping them. Big Red did not cancel this contract, it was agreed to by mutual consent. If Edison had wanted to keep the contract, I'm sure they could have.

Under any circumstance, what does Edison have to do with anything? Big Red has one of the best reputations in the state for not dropping teams, and that's a fact. It's none of Creek's business what we do.

The picture you are trying to paint is you did Edison a favor. When Edison had no intention of not completing the contract. It was Big Red that wished to end it.
    So don't say:
    "Edison didn't want"
    "We gave Edison the option"
    "Offered Edison the chance"
"Allowed a team to get out"

These are the terms Edison should be using.

I know we dropped Wintersville back in 87...first they dropped us from their football schedule, then we responded by saying we weren't going to play them in any sport....and that lasted until a few years ago (besides OHSAA mandated contests).
  • FairwoodKing
I was at that game in '87. That was the weirdest ending to a game that I have ever seen. I could not believe it when Sammy took a tape of the game to Columbus the following week and tried to get the OHSAA to reverse the outcome of the game. They told him to get lost.
