My thoughts exactly so far on the identity of Orrville football. For one I am extremely disappointed with the big identity revealing!..... With all the hype I was hoping to have a dominant football team like the Packers!...........and all we get is 4-3!.......REALLY?!?! What a big let down!Rider2252;929040 wrote:I for one am extremely disappointed with the big identity revealing!.....With all the hype I was hoping he was going to announce that he was BATMAN!.....and all we get is JEREMY RANDLES!....REALLY?!?!What a big let down! -

GtownCometLooks to me like Orrville needs a game with Genoa. We'll have you holding hands and singing kumbaya together in no time

We are in need of that "common enemy," something we can all get behind.GtownComet;929917 wrote:Looks to me like Orrville needs a game with Genoa. We'll have you holding hands and singing kumbaya together in no time
I'd say losing a 4th game and missing the playoffs is something we should all be rooting against. -
CCRollyAfter all the trash talking, it would be very ironic if the McCreary's actually found a way and knocked you guys from the playoffs. That would truly be terrible, because then he'd definitely keep that job.

THE4RINGZIf Wooster beats Orrville this year, it will be in spite of the coaching not because of it.

RedRider1This statistic just boggles my mind and is indicative of our season so far.
Average points per game scored in 4 wins: 39 (41 vs. Northwest, 52 vs. Triway, 35 vs. Lex, 28 vs WH)
Average points per game scored in 3 losses: 7 (7 vs. Copley, 14 vs. Senior, 0 vs. Ashland)
Defense has allowed just 15.42 ppg all season, and has only allowed more than 20 twice (27 to NW and 21 to WH).
In my opinion, when your defense is allowing just a shade over 2 TD's per game, you should be better than 4-3.

And 2 of those losses were against what I would call potentially "high octane" offenses in Copley and Ashland. When you hold those 2 teams to 2 td's a piece, you should win those games!RedRider1;930240 wrote:This statistic just boggles my mind and is indicative of our season so far.

Copley has been held to 13 or less points twice this year. Once to us and then last week they were held to 3 in a loss to 7-0 Wadsworth.
Ashland's 14 points last week was their lowest output of the season! -
OQBWe have to get that offense up off the the ground! We can't win games if we don't score and it just defeats the purpose of having a really good defense.
-
riders12010 Red Riders averaged 25.57 pts. per game and allowed 20.07 per game, record 10-4
2011 Red Riders averaging 25.29 pts. per game and allowing 16.43 per game, record 4-3
We also could say last year with 2 games with 33 and 28 points scored ( both in losses ) that we should have been 9-1, so it's all in a matter off perception and how you want to look at numbers.
I would be curious as to the number of penalties last year compared to this year, if anyone has that info. I think penalties have hurt us both on offense and defense this year, much more than last year. -
OQBPERK strikes again!!
The penalties have to be significantly higher... -
OQBI think we need an offensive coordinator so Davault can stick to being the guy in charge, overseeing, discipline, etc....When he has all of his focus on trying to get this offense on the tracks, I think a lot of the other little things get put on the backburner..ie penalties, turnovers, discipline. I just think he has too much on his plate right now, and when Slaughter was the OC and Davault was simply the head coach, we saw a disciplined football team.
-
rrfanThe defense has not been the problem all year. How has the offense been this bad? I have watched the games and the issues I see are bad decisions by the QB, bad play calling, not using weapons we have and penalties. Orrville better find a way to win this Friday if they want to do anything in the playoffs. If we do and make the playoff this team better not get beat by Norwayne because they are rooting for that match up. It will be their super bowl and you better believe the entire county will be rooting against the Red Riders.

Upon further review.OQB;930514 wrote:The penalties have to be significantly higher...
2010 penalties Orrville 59 for 445 yds. playoffs 25 for 219 yds. Season Avg 5.9-44.5 yds, Playoffs 6.25- 54.75 yds.
2010 opponent penalties 51 for 476 yds., playoffs 24 for 200 yds. Season avg 5.1-47.6 yds., Playoffs 6-50 yds.
2011 penalties Orrville 53 for 496 yds. Season avg. 7.57 - 70.85 yds.
2011 opponents penalties 36 for 316 yds. Season avg 5.14 - 45.14 yds. -
Old Rider^^^ Thats just unacceptable!
Giving a team an average of 70 yards a game is almost like spotting them a TD every game. Its amazing that our defense is keeping opponents to under 14/game after seeing that stat!
Whats our penalty numbers look like in just the 3 losses? I know our turnovers have to lead the area if not the entire state! -
RedRider1Dang. I wanted post #2000 on this thread. Thanks a lot rrfan. Jerk.
-
riders1Penalties in 3 losses
Orrville 23 for 169 yds, avg 7.66 - 56.33 yds , ( penalties around avg, yardage lower )
Opponents 20 for 165 yds , avg 6.66 for 55 yds.
There is a 25 yard advantage for opponents in yardage per game which could mean a difference in field position, drive duration, and time of possession, which all affect the outcome of games. -

Red Rider81Hello Rider fans , hopefully we have a good game tomorrow. I have a couple observations i'd like to share hope they don't make to many angry. First i think our qb is our weak link, he should be far better then he is at this point in his playing. It's almost as if he has gotten worse as the season has gone on. I feel it is not his fault however, i don't think we have a qb coach teaching him the position. It seems every team we play has a qb far ahead of ours in technique and fundamentals. Ashlands was a first year starter yet looked like a senior out there. All the qbs we have faced seem to throw under pressure, make better reads, look off defenders, make better plays. Just flat out play the position better. I think it is a position that has to be taught and maybe our qb coach just isn't doing the job. Does everyone else have a better qb coach ? do we even have a qb coach ? Next would it kill the head coaches ego to bring a true offensive coach in to design an offense and call it. Davaults offense is old and predictable everyone knows our plays and when we run them. Same plays out of same formations week after week, year after year. Wish list for next season, new playbook and a good qb coach. Lastly if we would line up under center instead of running everything out of the shotgun maybe our O line could learn to pass block better. Blocking schemes instead of zone blocking. Good luck tomorrow Riders, hope the defense throws a shutout because that may be what it takes to win if our offense doesn't show up.
