Agreed. Fun to watch, always played the game hard.
That TV game was fun. Their fans talked A LOT leading up to that one. I simply said that we weren't getting beat by a PAC-7 school. Got called cocky and the like....but we backed it up.
If not for Mooney, we probably get to the state finals that year. -

I said the same thing the week the Riders lost to Mooney that year!RedRider1;583070 wrote:... If not for Mooney, we probably get to the state finals that year. -
OQBStill ticks me off to this day, we could've beaten all of the other division IV schools, but such is life....to be the best you have to play the best, just wish that game would've beenfor the whole thing....region 14 is nothing compared to 13....especially when stueby was in that region in 07/08.

AllOhioThanks for the kind comments QB and Red Rider 1...not sure who the latter is but I can say I thoroughly enjoyed coaching QB way back when he was a frosh - great attitude and a leader! Glad to hear your doing great with schooling, work, etc.!
-
5knotsGood news on a Mooney thread.....talk is that their 9th and 10th grade classes are pretty good size and since they were only 1 boy into DIII this session I would like them to stay there. I gues a new count comes out this May. I kinda hope we stay in region 14. It's been too fun playing Genoa.
I noticed on the Video the that V Monheim made for the team he put the punt return from Genoa '09 as the last play.....that was fun to watch....bodies all over the field. -
OQBThanks AllOhio, I always enjoyed playing for you.
That punt return was awesome....and #10 from this years Genoa team got his clock cleaned! I guarantee he has never been hit that hard EVER! -
Red Rider Nation5knots - i hope mooney does go D4 and ursuline too. If a great team in Orrville cant beat those teams than how great are you? orrvilles team next year as Im sure you know will be special.

our genoa buddy clickclickboom needs to see that video....he claims #10 got blocked in the back. Pretty clear that it was a clean hit (that he just didn't see coming) -

Mr. RussellNo doubt we win state that year if we don't run into Mooney. Haha I remember driving down the field the first drive, scoring, and thinking we were gonna have a lot of success, dang they were huge though!

I'm gonna have to agree with that statement.
Mr. Russell: I think you are mistaken on that scoring on the first drive business. But, beside that.....how the heck are you? I miss ya! -
OQBWow this Hartley/Chagrin Falls game is killing me......hartley is running the ball and play action passes and our now up 14-0 in the first.
-
OQBHartley is having their way in the outside running game....sounds very similar to our game, only difference is they are sticking with the run.
-
RedRider120-6 at half. All 3 Hartley scores have come via big runs.
It's almost like they saw something on film that said Chagrin was susceptible to the run. -
OQB
Makes you frustrated......we could've matched up well with hartley.RedRider1;586297 wrote:20-6 at half. All 3 Hartley scores have come via big runs.

RedRider134-13 Hartley wins.
I'm not going to get into the "couldas and wouldas." Chagrin beat us and we didn't get the chance to see how we matched up. -
OQBI totally agree with you RR1, just know for a fact we would've matched up well with the hawks.

No we would not have matched up because we do not have offensive play calling individuals that know how to run an offense here. I've been helping my son edit tape for a scouting ohio cd and our offense stinks in every game. Defense won us the region. -

Received and responding! But you didn't answer my question on the Mooney game. I am pretty sure we did not score on our first drive. -
RiderfanAgree with Go Riders. Defense carried us all year. We got farther than I thought we would. If we could manage to score 14 we had a shot in every game. And I think it will be a little tougher next year losing our offensive line. Still thought it would have been a good idea to run a Wildcat with Mason at qb and Tre and Matt in the backfield. Once we got this deep in the playoffs I think we needed to hit the other team with something they haven't seen on film.

Cmon man. take off the rose colored glasses. We couldn't even score a point against Clear Fork.OrrvilleQB;586358 wrote:Makes you frustrated......we could've matched up well with hartley. -
BRFInteresting thoughts there, Riderfan! I said from the git go that I would have liked to seen Brenner at QB. BUT, the points are moot.....or "mute" as some like to say!
-
OQBhaha wow you guys are really crackin some of my ribs over here.
Go Riders...yes our defense was our strength nobody is denying that. The offense, when we established the run were very efficient and scored points. We stick to our strengths during week 14 we are playing today. Hartley was an athletic Genoa....simple as that, and I know we have the defense to stop that.
Riderfan, take off your blinders because we were a completely different team after that loss to Clear Fork. None of us would've predicted a final 4 trip after that game. -
OQB
Agree on the Wildcat...only with Turner running it! If you were at the game you would've seen us trying to "hit the other team with something they haven't seen on film" We were 4-5 wide passing the ball...we hadn't done that all year long (on a consistent basis). We tried to bring the 2004 offense back and it didn't work obviously.Riderfan;586798 wrote:Still thought it would have been a good idea to run a Wildcat with Mason at qb and Tre and Matt in the backfield.
