Orrville Red Rider Football 2011
-
Riderwannabewill all of Orrvilles coaches be back next year,or are some of them hanging it up.
-
OQBThe only one I think would be a question mark is Coach McGrew. He has said the past 4 years this is my last year, but then comes back. Time will tell.
-
Riderwannabei heard coach haley is having surgery, will he come back after that ? will mc cully (work)and shrock(family time) come back.with hoops will slaughter be back. If we loose those coaches we might be in trouble.please coaches dont give it up
-
OQBHaley will be back for sure....he still has #25 haha. I could see coach slaughter taking a step back and still help out but not be a coordinator. Shrock has coaching in his blood...I can't see him stepping away until his sons are playing on friday nights.
-
RiderwannabeIf im not mistaking Shrocks kids i think go to Kidron cc so no football,so he could leave. Haleys kids are gett older now, and i cold also see Slaughter not being a Cord.As i look at the Roster for Orrville the linebacking group looks to be good for a long time to come with Summers and Zook coming up, just hope the guy coaching stays around.the Rider D could be real good next yr and same with thr O (NEED LINEMAN)
-
Mr. RussellOld Rider, or anybody else who would know, do Haley or Schrock ever want to be head coaches? Or are they content with being lifetime assitants/coordinators. Sometimes it is not better being a head coach, but I know many think it is worth the try if possible.
-
RiderwannabeMr. Russell,do you think thet should be head coaches, would hate to lose any of them.
-
OQBI think they are content with being assistants/Coordinators.....plus they are Red Riders.
In Haley's case, he made the move to D-Coordinator from LB/RB coach 2 years ago, while also having young kids that are growing up. He is also the Orrville JV Basketball coach this year. I couldn't see him leaving Orrville to be a head coach, but anything is possible. Old Rider should have the inside scoop on that.
In Coach Shrock's case, he has slowly been working his way down (on purpose).....started out as position coach, then moved up to D-Coordinator, and now more of a defensive assistant (eyes in the pressbox) for Coach Haley. His kids are older than Haley's, so I definately think he is happy where he is at as well.
The great thing about Orrville Football is how we graduate great football players, they go on to college and do well, start their life, and then give back to the community by coming back to Orrville and coaching. I believe our entire staff played high school football in Orrville, and that is such a key part to our tradition and its success. -
Riderwannabei can see Haley leaving if the right job opens
-
5knotsI have not heard of any changes.....and that's and answer to my prayers!
-
OQBI just can't see Haley leaving Orrville......
-
Mr. RussellAs an assistant at another school, whose coach is most likely leaving after this year, yes I would love Haley, or Schrock to be the next coach. Also, and ORRQB could vouche for this too, Slaughter is a great football coach. I honestly think any of those three would make great head coaches, along with Tommy Brenner someday.
-
OQBDefinately Mr. Russell.....All four of those guys have great qualities and could be successful head coaches.
All have been great assistant coaches, and just think of all the great players they have coached. Along with Brenner I would say Hiller would be a great HC someday as well. Orrville has been able to produce good QB's because of Slaughter and what he is able to do with inexperienced players. Most schools are down when they graduate a senior quarterback, but we have been able to just find the next guy and keep on winning. I loved playing for our coaching staff.
I just can't see any of them leaving Orrville....lol but stranger things have happened. -
RedRider1Can we get Tim Hiller a job at Smuckers so he could come back and be our QB coach?
I think the talk above about Haley is true. Coach D really made an effort to mention Haley and Shrock A LOT during post-game interviews. Thought maybe he was trying to get them some attention to be a head coach, but I was told it was to show them how important they are to the program so they'd stick around. -
5knotsIMO hanging around these guys, it is more about being a part of Red Rider success on the football field than anything else. That may be hard for some not entrenched in Red Rider football to understand....but it is very real for a lot of these coaches. And I for one am very very thankful.
-
Old RiderAs we all know coaching High School football is about the love for the game and the enjoyment of seeing young men grow and succeed in life. Winning games helps keep coaches coming back and Coach D has certainly done that.
Coach Haley is a Red Rider and I would betray him if he left....LOL.
He enjoys doing what he does, but the time commitment can be a strain on the family when you have little ones growing up.
That being said...as long as we Red Rider fans/Dads can keep producing good linebackers than maybe we can keep him around for a long time. Get to work men! -
OQBThere you have it....Like I said before, these guys love coaching Orrville Football and it is because of them that our tradition and success continues.
-
Riderwannabejust from what i heard.it doesnt look good for the linebackers at OHS.
-
OQBWhat is it that you heard?
-
RiderwannabeThat Haley is going to give it up,but he can always be replaced.Brenner played some lb in college he can take over.
-
OQBA guy like him is hard to replace.....he brings so much to the coaching staff and team itself. I think we will be good for a few more years (when his boy starts playing)

So, according to you, the basketball team "isn't that good" and now it "doesn't look good" for Haley coming back?
Kind of turning into our resident Negative Nancy, aren't you? -
5knotsLast conversation I had with Coach Haley he is planning on being back, Let us all keep him and his family in our prayers this spring as he will undergo a long awaited hip replacement. Barring some unforeseen problem, I look for coach Haley to lead the Red Rider defense once again.
A very good point made on the time commitment all these coaches give. Any time you have the opportunity to say thanks don't pass it up. I wish we could do more for these guys. -
Riderwannabe5k,i didnt know that about Haley, will keep him in our prayers.I guess thats why he walks with such a bad limp.
